Are you referring to the official release or the betas?
-
Yes, this is something I am considering for the future. Certainly possible, and probably likely, considering the trouble we've been through with the Steam API lately. Did you test it out with games that for certain had a Steam ID connected to them?
-
In all honesty, this makes zero sense lol. What betas are you referring to specifically? I think you must just be comparing the situation of images having been already cached vs. images that still need cached.
-
This has honestly been beaten to death. I have options coming to make the boxes more similar to the old LaunchBox, yes. But once again, the old LaunchBox had the exact same issue with different image sizes; the main difference is the fact that regular LaunchBox does not have the surrounding box, and the boxes were centered. Regardless, I will be adding these options in soon.
-
Is this only in .Next? Yeah, we would probably need a new volume control option for it, since people will likely want it at a separate volume anyways. I would consider this a new feature request. The box image slider doesn't really make it easy to get to an exact particular size, not to mention the cache folder would grow to take up a ridiculous amount of space if we kept all the previous sizes. Currently, the cache is emptied and rebuilt as needed when the size of the boxes is changed. However, the cache will keep all the various image types as they are populated (so it won't need to re-cache when switching between boxes and 3D boxes, for example).

Just chiming in to say that 3D boxes are still something I would like to do at some point.

I see; it looks like this is specific to the right-click Show Details menu option. I was testing with View > Game Details. I'll get it fixed.
-
Okay, still can't seem to replicate it. Do you start LaunchBox with game details open or closed? Can you go through specific steps of everything you do?

Beta 4 is out now with a handful of the items knocked out: Here's what's left: Custom spacing options (with # of text lines too) Controller support Music playback Sidebar resizing randomly Box customization options (colors, placement, visibility, etc.) Mouse cursor popup options Jump to new game after game is added Adding to playlist requiring a restart? Occasional multi-select issues (games are not unselected on rare occasions) Defaulting to system language in some cases/places?
-
Oddly I haven't been able to replicate this. When pressing Ctrl+T to show or hide the details panel, the same game remains selected for me, and the proper details show. Is anyone able to replicate this?

This was definitely caused by images with different DPIs, as predicted. I have it fixed for the next beta. Edit: For clarity, if you open up the images in Photoshop, and select "Print Size" from the View menu, you'll notice that some images show as much smaller than others, due to the differing DPIs. I think this is just caused by different people's image editors or whatever. WPF takes the DPI into account when it displays the images, so I had to override it by setting the size of the image to match the pixel width of the image.

Thanks all, I have the Big Box issue fixed for the next beta.
-
Yeah, it's also complicated by the fact that the LaunchBox logo works as the menu when the side bar is hidden. Well that makes no sense at all lol. I'll look into it.
-
Does LaunchBox.Next exit? Does it close the process?
-
Hmm, I'm guessing it's the format/DPI of the images, ugh. Not sure if that's gonna be an easy thing to fix or not.

Display only games with specific missing media for audit
Jason Carr replied to Kondorito's topic in Noobs
Yeah, I feel you, though what I don't understand is that it seems to me when you initially download a No Intro romset, for example, you already know that you have a full set. If you've been piecemailing things, then you might as well just start over and grab a full set, if you're concerned about missing games. -
Hey all, beta 3 is out now with the following: Improvement: LaunchBox.Next now obeys the default background settings properly Improvement: LaunchBox.Next now resets to the default background when changing to a new platform/filter Improvement: LaunchBox.Next now works with clear logo backgrounds Fixed: LaunchBox.Next exiting issues while switching to Big Box See the LaunchBox.Next missing features thread for details on what's left for .Next:

Hello all, the performance issues have all been addressed in the latest beta. If you were having performance issues, please download the beta and let me know if you're still seeing any issues. There have been some major improvements in betas 1 and 2, and I think we should be all set in that area. Now that I'm moving on from performance, I've gone through this thread and compiled a list of everything left to tackle. Keep in mind that this does not include anything that is not in regular LaunchBox; if you have a feature request in this thread that is not in regular LaunchBox, that feature request will need to go elsewhere as this thread is strictly for missing features in LaunchBox.Next. After going through the thread, this is what I still have left on my plate: Show version Custom spacing options (with # of text lines too) Controller support Music playback List view resorting on edit and repop Sidebar resizing randomly Box customization options (colors, placement, visibility, etc.) Randomize color theme on startup Playlist sorting not working Mouse cursor popup options Jump to new game after game is added Adding to playlist requiring a restart? Occasional multi-select issues (games are not unselected on rare occasions) Defaulting to system language in some cases/places? Fix default background settings (fixed for beta 3, to be out later today) Reset to default background when changing to a new platform/filter (fixed for beta 3, to be out later today) Clear logo backgrounds (added for beta 3, to be out later today) Fix exiting issues (fixed for beta 3, to be out later today) Thanks all for all the great feedback; I'll keep pumping on these items and hopefully we can knock many of them out this week.

@jetbootjack Nothing has changed with the sound engine or the sound code so I'm betting it's a coincidence of some sort or related to something else.
-
This is fixed for the next beta.
-
Nope, custom spacing code has not been added yet.
-
@MancVandal Custom spacing actually still hasn't been implemented yet for LaunchBox.Next.

Thank you all; all noted. Beta 2 is out now with some more significant performance improvements, especially for during the initial caching. That was definitely something I was aware of and still planned to tackle. I'm hoping this version proves to be much better. I'm headed back from camp tomorrow morning so my availability will be back to normal again very soon.

Hello all, the first 8.4 beta is out. I'm at family camp this week, but I've been working in the mornings. However unfortunately I have zero reception out here so once I head back to camp in a few minutes, so I won't be able to check up on anything until tomorrow morning. If you're skiddish about betas, you might want to hold off on this one just because I won't be available for a day. Anyways, the focus for this beta so far has been to attempt to improve performance with the box images and the caching for .Next. The app will automatically cache images in the background for the active view (the currently displayed games). In addition, there's a small progress bar that shows at the top while images are being cached in the background. If you want to precache all images, just go to All Games, set the image group you want, and wait for the progress bar to complete. It's still a work in progress, and I haven't been able to test anywhere but on this laptop, but I'm hoping it's a significant improvement.
