  1. Hi Chris, syncing data like this without overwriting user changes can be a particularly nasty/difficult problem to solve, and there might never be a perfect solution. So unfortunately it's not likely to be something that gets addressed in the near future.
  2. Glad you got it working. I remember researching that back when I implemented it only to discover that it wasn't ready yet (iirc). I'm sure if we switched it would at least cut down the size of the installer quite a bit. But Edge isn't included in Windows 7, is it?
  3. I think there's something else going on here. Even though it claims it's running out of RAM, it's using less than a gig of RAM, which is within normal limits. I've seen that error come up before even when it's not running out of RAM, so I think the error message is irrelevant. I know that doesn't really help us figure out what's going on though lol. I'm guessing it's some sort of odd driver bug at this point. Though figuring out exactly what the problem is is likely to be a royal pain. I would first try switching video playback methods and disabling any controllers to see if that helps.
  4. Hmm, I think the "out of memory" error is lying, but apparently somehow there's an overflow going on. Are you running Windows 7 or Windows 10? Are you all up to date on Windows updates, video drivers, etc.?
  5. Alright folks, new beta is out with lots of new options to handle how boxes are displayed: This should allow you to make .Next look a lot more like the OG LaunchBox if desired, line up the text on the bottom, make all the backgrounds the same color, etc.
  6. Alright, beta 7 is out now with a hopeful fix for the game details translation issues in .Next, as well as a new Options dialog: These options will allow you to configure .Next to look a lot more like the original LaunchBox, if desired. There are also additional options for a uniform background color and aligning the text at the bottom (which is also now the new default).
  7. We can review this at some point. I see, I'll take a look. Unfortunately I think maybe Steam changed the API or something here. I'll look into it.
  8. Do you recall what you were doing at the time of that error?
  9. I'm hoping I have the game details translation issues fixed for the beta that I just put out. However, I haven't done anything with the All, None, and Exists text. I'll have to look into that yet. If you can, please report that error to the plugin developer. I unfortunately don't maintain a list of plugins with compatibility issues. Good to know. I'm able to replicate it as well, so I'll look into it. Combining and expanding games hasn't been changed in ages; that said, we may still have a bug in there or two. I'll take a look at that sometime soon. I'm guessing the CPU usage is due to the caching happening in the background (assuming you're in .Next) which is by design, of course. If the progress bar is visible at the top of the window, then LaunchBox is caching images in the background.
  10. Some good suggestions for options here, but this thread is specifically for features that are not in .Next that *are* in OG LaunchBox. Our current focus is making sure that .Next is feature-complete. Wow, I didn't even know that was a thing. I'll see if there's anything I can do about it.
  11. Unfortunately I haven't seen this happen, but I don't have everyone's various different types of hardware to test with. My guess is that it's either related to using different DPI settings on the two different monitors or it's some sort of a driver bug, but I'm not certain. Do you have different DPIs between the two monitors @Abwezi?
  12. It's physically impossible for LaunchBox to cause any startup issues at all, because LaunchBox does not modify the Windows registry and does not add or change anything with the startup process. So whatever the issue is, it's guaranteed to be completely unrelated. The only thing LaunchBox does is put its files in the LaunchBox folder. DirectX is installed by the LaunchBox installer, but if DirectX is causing issues, then most likely the machine or Windows installation has some serious issues.
  13. Alright, well it appears the issue is not related to your data, since I tried your data on my machine and had no issues opening it. When you check Task Manager to see if LaunchBox is still running, keep in mind that LaunchBox will move to the Background Processes section if there's no window open. Can you check to see if LaunchBox is in the background processes after attempting to run it?
  14. I checked out your data @Bleu_Skie. When I loaded up .Next I noticed that the window settings were set fairly strangely: <FormLocationX>-32000</FormLocationX> <FormLocationY>-32000</FormLocationY> <FormMaximized>false</FormMaximized> <FormSizeX>199</FormSizeX> <FormSizeY>34</FormSizeY> These are located in the Settings.xml file. This resulted in the window showing up in the very top left corner of my screen, very small, though it did still show up. Not sure if that could be what's going on? You can try deleting those lines from your Settings.xml to see if that helps anything. If it's not showing up at all though, then it looks like I have a bug to fix.
  15. @Bleu_Skie Thanks for the report. If you can zip up and PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder, hopefully I can pinpoint the issue. Make sure you private message me the folder instead of posting it here in the post publicly. Thanks.
  16. Yes, that is by design. Previously there was no volume control for the videos. I didn't figure there's any reason to play music and the video at the same time, so no need for separate volume controls.
  17. Just put out another beta folks: Fixed a bunch of stuff and added music playback and a volume control. Down to five items left: Custom spacing options (with # of text lines too) Controller support Box customization options (colors, placement, visibility, etc.) Mouse cursor popup options Game details translations wrong language in some cases/places
  18. I've been monitoring RAM usage carefully and haven't been able to replicate this at all, but I haven't done much testing on Windows 7. I'll have to go back to that once we near the end of .Next development here soon.
  19. Alright all, beta 6 is out with the following changes/fixes/additions for .Next: Incorrect translation in the right-click menu has been fixed LaunchBox.Next no longer prioritizes cinematic videos Hopefully fixed the occasional issue with games not unselecting properly Set a maximum width on the side bar to prevent it from getting too large and then not being sizable Fixed playlist manual sorting Implemented music playback Added a volume control to the bottom right Per the side bar sizing, I still have never been able to replicate it changing randomly, and I believe I've only heard it from one person, so I'm hoping that just preventing it from growing too big will suffice for now. I'm betting it has something to do with changing resolutions or DPI settings on the fly (probably caused by an emulator). Per music playback, I believe everything has been implemented sans for the song name and the associated drop down list in the bottom bar. The song name can be seen via a tool tip, but you can't currently click it to select a different track. I was never much of a fan of this interface in OG LaunchBox, so I'm hoping to come up with a better interface for that when I do implement it. That may take a back seat for now unless I get too many gripes about it. Anyways, here's what's left on my list at current: Custom spacing options (with # of text lines too) Controller support Box customization options (colors, placement, visibility, etc.) Mouse cursor popup options Game details translations incorrect language in places Happy weekend everybody.
  20. The "All", "None", and "Exists" changing *should* only be happening when you change the language; it does automatically happen when the language is changed. If you can confirm that it is indeed happening every time though, I'll look into it, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Gotcha on the translations in the game details, I'll see if I can't patch that up.
  21. Generally the smartest way to spend your money on hard drives is to purchase a 250 GB or 500 GB SSD. The best way to do it is to put your OS as well as LaunchBox and all your media on the SSD, and then you keep the game files themselves on a slower mechanical drive since they take up much more space and won't slow down your browsing experience in Big Box. Maybe you could keep your existing drive for that? To be honest, this day and age you're really shooting yourself in the foot if you're not running at least the OS off of an SSD.
  22. That is correct; we will not be making any significant improvements to OG LaunchBox at this point. I have plans to add a bunch more configuration options to .Next here soon, so hopefully that will work for you @djFai.
  23. Thanks for noting that. I've changed the code for the next beta to stop prioritizing the cinematic videos.
  24. Gotcha, should be an easy fix. I just missed that spot.
