Hi @slashguns04, I changed up the views a bit as well in the latest betas. So maybe try starting with a fresh copy of the view from the Default folder?
-
I'll have to build you a package yet @AVissie. If you don't mind it would be better to wait until after the official 6.3 release, because I'm a bit swamped right now with wrapping everything up for the release. Then I can get a package ready for you. :)
-
Sorry for that @AVissie! I missed it too. :)

Hi @slashguns04, I just changed this up slightly in the latest beta. Go to Options > Game Images and check the box to enable background videos. Let me know if that works. :)

We're extremely excited to announce that Kirsten Marie has joined the LaunchBox team! She's a long-time gamer and we think she'll be a perfect fit for the LaunchBox community. She's starting out by helping us with all the customer service stuff, from the forums, to Bitbucket, emails, and everything else. Going forward she'll be doing more social networking and marketing stuff as well, including eventually doing videos and the like. She's a lot more fun (and nicer) than I am, so I think the community will benefit from her involvement tremendously. I'm also excited to be able to spend a little bit more time developing, and a little bit less time with customer service. I'll always be available to the community directly with the development live streams, email, forums, and everything else, but it will be good to focus our efforts here in order to make the team more productive than ever. So say hi to Kirsten, ask her anything, and thanks for being an important part of the LaunchBox community! :)

Hey @CliveBarker @AFaustini @Wattoo @cyanjiang, now's the time to work on the translations for 6.3 if you are available. Hoping to put out the official release in the next few days. :)
-
Opaklopper said Hey @Jason I discovered some new translation errors where i was quite sure i couldn't make such a huge mistake. For example, "Launchbox is downloading..." was translated to "We are asking our Community... Would you like to vote now". So i checked the old files and and compared them to the updated ones and found out that there went something wrong with files that aren't used anymore. Like the voting stuff. So before i just edit it i wanted to let you know, maybe this helps you somehow. Thanks @Opaklopper. I actually still haven't gone through and fixed stuff up yet, so I haven't made any changes to the translations yet. Was planning on hitting that up today, but if you found issues that need fixed, it would probably be better for you to fix them up and send over a new version, and then I can go from there. :)
-
Hi @dukeemu, while you're working on creating the initial translations, don't worry about any updates. I won't be working on changing anything with the Italian translation, so there's no worries about me overwriting any of your work. After your translation is completed, you can email me a zip of all of the files (or post it here) and then I can integrate it into LaunchBox. Once it's integrated there will be a new translation package available for you with all of your changes, and you can then go through and update the translations for the latest changes. :)

A new beta is out; still have more bugs to fix but this gets us farther. There have also been some important changes/additions: - Video backgrounds are now supported for the games views. Rather than add new views, I enabled them for all the existing views. You can turn them on under Options > Game Images > Use Background Videos. - I removed the new Platforms Wheel with Video Backgrounds view. Instead, I've added an option similar to the games views above. You can now turn on video backgrounds under Options > Filters Images > Use Background Videos. This should now work for all the platforms views sans for the boring text list view. Thanks all.

Hi guys, unfortunately I think we're going to have to wait until after the 6.3 release to tackle these Rocket Launcher issues. I'm hoping to put out 6.3 before the end of the week and still have a number of other bugs to resolve. That said, I do want to tackle this stuff. The issue is that Big Box waits for the EXE that it's running to close, and then expects that the game is closed when that EXE returns. It looks like Rocket Launcher doesn't work that way; I'm not really sure yet how I'll solve that but we'll figure it out one way or another.

Just received an email from Clavius with these six sound sets. They're really quite amazing and 100% original; he wants to remain anonymous so I'm posting them here. He's done over 15 years professionally working on video game sound effects, and it shows. Enjoy! https://www.dropbox.com/s/gv8b8m7cf0e5auj/LaunchBox_SciFi_SoundSets_by_Clavius.zip?dl=0 I'll be adding proper support for sound sets to Big Box soon; we'll probably make one of these the default here soon enough. :)

Awesome, thanks @Opaklopper. I'll get the issues fixed in the dev live stream tomorrow morning. :)

Alright, new beta is out (again). My apologies if anyone had to update more than once here (I put out several new versions). I was fixing some issues with the setup program, as well as making it download and install .NET 4.6.1 if it didn't exist. This beta just has bugfixes in it primarily (mostly just the bugfixes I mentioned above). I cleaned a number of things up on the backend as well but nothing you'll notice when using the app. I don't think we're too far off from a release at this point, so we might target the end of the week.

No problem @shinra358, thanks for clarifying. :) @kmoney2315, that's odd. In the video it looks like window focus isn't properly returning to Big Box after the game exits. The start menu is showing up over top of Big Box which isn't typical and should be avoidable if focus is properly returned. It probably does have something to do with Rocket Launcher; I'm gonna have to get a good setup of RL going in order to address that. Are you using the latest version of RL now with the LaunchBox plugin?
-
shinra358 said so why can't those new folders go into the folders that we customize? If I have a folder that says sony playstation portable, why can't all the folders go in sony playstation portable? Why does it have to go in a brand new folder called sony psp? Isn't our custom fields tied to some kind of variable (or the folders themselves so everything can find its way to the right place instead of create a new place? I could "guess" at parsing it out, yes. But generally, that's not at all a good idea because some people have folders all over the place without guessable uniformity. At least I think that's what you're suggesting. Unfortunately I can't make guesses here, so for the new folders (which are going to be empty anyways when you first load up the next version of LaunchBox), we're going to have to deal with the defaults.

m3TTwUrsT That issue with the sidebar text is just because it's changeable in the options, so I can't always just overwrite it on language changes. It doesn't ever happen except when people are playing switching between languages for testing purposes. So it's a known issue that I probably won't be fixing (there's not really a good solution). @Opaklopper I need to go through and fix the issues with the forms, but we can't both be working on the translation at the same time, or we'll overwrite each other's changes. Let me know if you have any outstanding changes and send them over if you can. Then we'll need to wait for me to make my fixes before you make any more changes. Thanks!

FYI, just fixed the bug in the last beta where the WMP videos weren't keeping their aspect ratios. New beta will be out soon.
-
It should be fixed where possible, @shinra358. Folders are still going to be created because we have a lot more image types now. So of course we need more folders, and folders like Box - 3D that don't match up to anything previously will get created and default to the new folders inside of the LaunchBox folder.
-
Figured out the image folder migration bug. We were storing absolute instead of relative paths in the XML. So if you moved your folder, then the issues were popping up. At least, that's what it seems like was happening. I have this fixed for the next beta, though of course it won't go back and correct folders that were previously set incorrectly. Not sure if this is the same thing that anyone was running into, but glad I caught it before the official release. Unfortunately beta testers may need to use a search and replace to fix the platform folders in their XML. For example, many of my platform folders were set like this: D:\Dropbox (Personal)\LaunchBox\Images\Nintendo Entertainment System\Advertisement Flyer - Front When they should be like this: Images\Nintendo Entertainment System\Advertisement Flyer - Front
-
By the way, I forgot to mention it earlier but I upgraded the .NET versions for LaunchBox and Big Box to .NET 4.6.1. I'm surprised nobody's noticed or run into an issue with that with the betas; apparently everyone already had it. That's good news. I know once we put out the official release we might get some complaints, but I've observed that both performance and stability is improved so I don't think I'll be reverting.

IlhanK said Jason Carr said Alright, new beta is out guys. You can now download platform videos from EmuMovies with either the import processes or the metadata update wizard. If all you want to do is download the platform videos, you can select all your games, run the download images and metadata wizard, and just uncheck everything except for the Video_System_Intro_MP4 box for EmuMovies. Do I need a premium EmuMovies subscription for this to work? Yes, a premium subscription is required in order to download any types of videos from EmuMovies. Looks like I do need to fix this so it doesn't error for non-paying EmuMovies members.
-
Thanks all. @ALIE, do you have a premium EmuMovies subscription? A paid subscription is required in order to download the videos from EmuMovies. I may need to fix things up so they don't error out for non-paying members.
-
ALIE I'd like to but to be honest I still have a lot to learn with Rocket Launcher, and so does Brad. I'm hoping Simply Austin can put out a tutorial soon.

kmoney2315 said I found a new bug in the newest beta: In BigBox with Windows Media Player chosen, the platform videos show the correct aspect ratios for 4:3 and 16:9 but the game videos do not. They stay the same aspect ratio and do not change for vertical and horizontal game videos in for instance the "Arcade" platform games list. However I tried out the VLC option and the aspect ratios seem to be correct for vertical and horizontal games. Also I created a ticket in Bitbucket. I do see this now @kmoney2315, good eye. On my list. :)
