  1. Agreed @kmoney2315. :) Folks we're actually 100% maxing out a 100 mbps ethernet port right now. That is the cause of the slowness. Pretty incredible really if you think about it. I will be upgrading this to a gigabit ethernet port soon which will bring the speed back up, assuming this amount of traffic continues. I will have to schedule some short down time to upgrade the hardware, but I'll let everyone know.
  2. Thanks guys. I have this fixed for 6.2, which I should be putting out shortly. I've fixed a bunch of bugs in the last few hours that I think merit yet another release lol. ;)
  3. There are jerks everywhere, that's for sure. We're just good at weeding them out and sending them packing. :P
  4. No worries @Zeromod and sorry if I was harsh myself in my response. Just been getting TONS of feedback since the release (which is GREAT) so I'm rushing out responses. Glad to have you here, and I'm in agreement that there is such thing as too much flash. ;)
  5. Yup, we're sponsoring Pat and Ian now. We've sponsored three videos so far. So far we've only sponsored Pat and Ian, but might be open to sponsoring more folks in the future. Indeed we are doing very well lately. :)
  6. That's correct; that won't overwrite any of your personal data. It's only the metadata that is used on imports and such. I think what might be happening is that the Metadata.xml that I'm distributing with 6.0 and 6.1 isn't the most up to date. It should automatically update anyways but I think it might be delayed a day actually, this is starting to make sense. I might have to put out 6.2 to fix that.
  7. Awesome, glad to have you back @Zombeaver. What's basically happening I think is that you Metadata.xml file is out of date. When you add a new game and hit the search button, are you prompted to update the local metadata? The immediate solution if for some reason that's not working is to download this zip file from here: http://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/Metadata.zip And then extract it into your LaunchBox\Metadata folder. It should overwrite the Metadata.xml and MAME.xml files. That shouldn't be necessary, but it seems like maybe the metadata downloads aren't working for you.
  8. Hi @Styphelus, they should go under Windows. Sounds like we might have a glitch though...nothing should be showing up under PC. What process are you using that is making them be PC? Thanks! :)
  9. Thank you guys. @Rastan101 I know it's not a perfect solution, but Big Box *should* open up on the monitor from which it is opened from. If you put a shortcut to it on one monitor, it will open up on that monitor. That said, I know that's probably not much help for the Kodi issue. Hopefully I can get to this soon. :)
  10. Hi Leigh, probably the best solution would be to mark the games that you don't want to see in Big Box as "hidden". Then you can configure LaunchBox to show your hidden games and configure Big Box to hide them. :)
  11. Thanks again @Bedwyr. I'll look at this on Monday at the latest.
  12. Thanks for all that testing @Bedwyr. I will look to address that issue and any other additional issues that come up before we start tackling any new features. Thanks everyone. :)
  13. wallmachine, I'm done here. I'm happy to offer you a refund but I'm tired of arguing with you. No, the majority of our user base are not on Windows 7. Please let me know if you would like a refund.
  14. sergeb and @Zeromod, I can certainly bring that view back in a beta here soon. There are significant problems with the image caching and I didn't expect that anyone would prefer it over the other new views. My apologies for that oversight. @Zeromod, I would appreciate if you could keep your feedback and communication positive in this thread; I really am out to make everyone happy and I will listen to feedback so there's no need to be harsh. As always, thank you @nyny77 and @kmoney2315. Can't wait for Monday so we can keep going. :) @Zombeaver, it sounds like your Metadata.xml is not up to date and is not updating from the LaunchBox Games Database. It should automatically update when you import games, or it should prompt you to update when you search for metadata. Is it not?
  15. wallmachine Unfortunately there's only so much I can do to improve performance, especially with an operating system that's 7 years old and isn't optimized like more modern versions of Windows. If I knew how to improve the performance for you I certainly would, but like I said, I very much expect that Windows 7 is your issue. I've also put lots and lots of work into the latest version to improve performance as much as possible, and for the moment I'm not convinced there's a whole lot more I can do to make it much faster. That said, I'm always working on performance, so maybe I will find something sooner or later that will help, but it's hard to say. I'm still baffled about the loading time taking 30 seconds. Big Box loads in about 6 seconds on all four of my test machines with various i5 and i7 CPUs, and I have around the same number of games as you (6,095 to be exact). I'm very curious what the bottleneck might be, but it's really hard to tell without having access to the machine (and even then might be difficult to identify). It definitely seems like something isn't functioning up to par though with those numbers. I guess one thing to try might be to close out of all running processes on the machine (especially anti-virus and similar programs), and then run Big Box to see if another application might be significantly hurting the performance. Other than that, I'm at a loss.

Ah, I see. Are any of the games marked as "hidden" or "broken"? There are options in Big Box to hide or show hidden and/or broken games, so that could be it.
  17. I'm really sorry, @anyany. Kept meaning to look at this but also was constantly trying to prep for the 6.0 release. I think I figured it out; there's a glitch with the Brazilian Portuguese translation (it's not @AFaustini's fault, it's mine) where the custom filters apparently are not working for that translation. I'll do my best to get a fix for this out in a beta soon. Thanks for bearing with me on this, and following up.

tibic If you press Enter (or whatever key is assigned to Enter in Big Box), it should take you to the complete games list.
  19. Hey all, just so everyone knows what's going on, I just put out 6.1 to fix a bug that was plaguing a small minority of people, only people who had not previously upgraded to 5.10. Basically, their Metadata.xml file was outdated and wasn't being immediately updated on installation, and so we were running into conflicts. The new metadata updates were designed to download from the LaunchBox Games Database, but we were mistakenly not updating the old file on startup if it was out of date from previous versions.
  20. That's true. Good to hear. Yeah, hopefully running with WPF will continue to be a good decision for years. Either way, we'll figure out one way or another to keep on top.
  21. Whoops! Perhaps I should change that, eh? Sorry for that @Zuckerton and thanks for the tickets. We'll definitely add those platforms soon. Adding platforms is very easy for me to do so I should be able to get that going next week. Shout out to me if I forget. :)
  22. That is KILLER. And great to hear since WPF gets a bad rap so often lately. I still feel like I made the right decision using it for Big Box, especially since it's also going to enable us to have custom views and themes without a ton of additional effort.
  23. Well that's cool; sounds like we might get an automatic performance upgrade when we move to .NET 4.6 then. Unfortunately we were forced into the obfuscation when pirates and crackers started running wild with 5.7 and earlier versions, so unfortunately there's not much I can do about that. That said, I've run many performance tests and performance has not been negatively affected by the obfuscation in this case; I'm confident in that. However, yes, some of the anti-virus false positives may be partially due to the obfuscation. I recently changed some of the Big Box obfuscation to help prevent this for 6.0 though.
  24. Oh yeah, dang, I totally forgot about that. Thanks, @CliveBarker. I can get a new package out for everyone with that soon. It's actually in a separate control so you're right, there's no way to translate it for the moment. Whoops. Glad everything is working well though. :)
