  1. Ah, thank you @CADScott. Did it work for you in 5.9 or in any previous 5.10 betas?
  2. Gonna hold off on the official release for a day or two. I did make a few minor changes that could use some translations to the AboutForm and the Strings files, so if you guys are available to patch those up that'd be awesome. :)

Yeah, this is why I stick with coding. ;)
  4. Hey all, I agree that that would be the best solution. Probably won't make it into the next version but I'll keep that in mind for long term. A ticket for it would be good if there isn't one already. I just put out another beta...planned on putting out the official today but got into development and decided I'd rather take my time and get 5.10 as stable as possible so that we can hunker down on the 6.0 release. Here's the changelog so far for 5.10: - Improvement: MAME metadata and import functionality has been greatly improved which should help to reduce gaps from the get-go. Also included a link to Antropus's Lightspeed MAME importer for users who need even more options. - Improvement: Spanish and French translations have been updated (including release notes in the Welcome dialog) - Improvement: Startup time has been reduced a bit by separating out the MAME metdata to a separate file - Improvement: VLC videos in LaunchBox and Big Box now loop and resume from pausing properly instead of starting over I fixed a bunch of translation issues today as well as the latter two items, and some obscure bugs that aren't really worth mentioning. Oh, and I added a VLC tab to the About dialog. Still plan to put 5.10 out this week.
  5. Hi @Lenny, thanks for reminding me of that. I have it fixed and the beta is uploading now so it should be out in a bit. :)
  6. kmoney2315 said @Jason The new changes to the mame importer are waaaaay better than they were before! I imported with it last night and it got rid of 95% of the junk that it used to leave before. I can also tell that the quality and quanity of the flyers improved also. There are still some games that either don't have flyers or are displaying "hyperspin" game theme screenshots for the flyer or is showing a screenshot that has nothing to do with the game. I am sure that is because there are no quality flyers out there for certain games or something to that effect. I am sure us as a community can work together to fill in some of the missing flyers or wrong ones and get it corrected. Me for one,I do not like to see an empty space with the launchbox logo. Even if there is not a flyer for the game I would rather see maybe a pic of the actual arcade cabinet or maybe a nice screenshot of the game. Thanks for the update! Thank you much @kmoney2315. Yeah, the images really bug me too. I went through the effort to add in and replace every single available flyer, but was disappointed to see that many just don't exist at this point. I'm gonna look to see what types of images we might be able to use to fill in the blanks.
  7. Brad and I worked it out; looks like it was just due to games from a previous import. I'm gonna go ahead with the official release. :)

Ugh, sounds like it's way out of my league. Kind of what I was afraid of. Hrmf.
  9. It's probably busy caching images to disk. It does this in the background when new games are added or if you refresh all images. Give it a while to finish up and CPU and disk usage should go back down.
  10. Hi @jking3, I'm not aware of anything I'm doing in the code to restrict that. Not sure anyone has tried anything like that before though...

The Xtension top is plexiglass. You think a hand drill will work for that?
  12. 5.10-beta-2 is out with some major fixes for the built-in MAME importer and a link out to Antropus's MAME importer. The French and Spanish translations have been fixed up as well. Per the MAME importer, I filled in all the gaps for the MAME metadata, so importing MAME full sets should no longer result in any games without titles or metadata. I also added some additional filtering options for various types of games. Also populated a bunch of flyers for the front art on the LaunchBox Games Database. Planning to put the official 5.10 release out tomorrow, assuming no one runs into any glaring bugs. :)
  13. Hi guys, the new beta is out; I plan to put out the official release tomorrow so let me know if you see any issues. Thanks!
  14. You're seeing the WMP videos continue playing after launching a game? Ugh, that was fixed eons ago. I haven't heard about anyone having that issue in a very long time. Puzzling. Man, this whole thread is baffling lol. I have no idea why you're hitting so many issues with that hardware, especially after reinstalling Windows and everything. My only thought is it could be that you have some bad RAM that just causing random issues all over the place. I'm not really a hardware guy but if you're seeing a bunch of random stability issues, my first guess would be bad RAM. Maybe try downloading a Linux ram checker bootdisk?

This has been posted before, but if anyone hasn't seen this series yet, you're in for a treat (and a lot of wasted time). ;) It's Retroware's "The Video Game Years" and covers 1977-1989. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N3ZvG3JUTg&list=PLC2468FB35ED2DAC2
  16. Very nice! The wizard looks really great. I think LaunchBox is well on its way to having the best available support for MAME (if it doesn't already). I just put out 5.10-beta-2, with the above changes. I plan to put out the 5.10 official tomorrow assuming no one runs into any nasty bugs. Pushing this one out quickly because of some missing translations in 5.9. Brad is going to put out a video on MAME very soon to cover both options (was planning on this week but we could put it off until next week). Do you think we should wait a week @Antropus so the wizard is available?
  17. I do agree though that it would be good to get VLC support for music files as well. Support is much better with VLC than it is with WMP for various formats, etc. Planned. :)

Very nice @Drybonz, the bezel looks great too. I have the Rec Room Masters Xtension: http://www.recroommasters.com/Xtension_Two_Player_Control_Board_Emulator_Edition_p/rm-xt-sd-board-ee.htm I'd like to add a spinner to it but I'm sort of afraid, because I'm horrible at that kind of stuff.
  19. Thank you @CliveBarker and @Wattoo; I have the translations and the release notes in a beta. I'll be putting out the beta tomorrow once I'm done testing some stuff with MAME. Per the quotes, I guess my preference would be to mimic whatever the English version is doing, unless it translates badly for some reason.

Wow, I'm jealous guys. My time really only goes back to the Atari 2600. But I've always sort of wished I was around since the beginning.
  21. Forgot to mention, the beta for this stuff isn't out yet (I'm testing) but should be out sometime tomorrow (ugh, today). ;)
  22. Very nice, Kris. I've fixed some of the MAME issues we had built-in to LaunchBox, because I felt like we still needed an overly simple solution. So this is what I have: I think we'll probably stick with this approach going forward, though we may choose to further integrate it at some point. For the LaunchBox importer I basically fixed all the gaps in the MAME metadata and added some likely important filtering options. At least users won't get files that aren't recognized anymore with the built-in MAME import. I also took the MAME metadata and cross-referenced it to the LaunchBox Games Database, and added any missing games. There are some duplicates that will need to be cleaned up but there should be metadata now in the database for pretty much the whole set. Finally, I used the Progretto flyers images database to populate front images for as many games as possible, so things are looking a lot better in that department. Does anyone know where to get more of those flyers?
  23. AWESOME! So glad to hear and glad there's a solution. :D
  24. Hmm, okay. See if you can get into the "set up USB game controllers" control panel applet. Should be able to get to it just by searching in the Start menu (typing to search). My thought is that lots of people who use emulation have virtualized controllers enabled on their system. How many controllers do you see showing up in the list?
  25. Hi @Mermsky, in the release notes for 5.9 I mention that multiple controller support for AutoHotkey was causing crashes in a bunch of people's systems because Microsoft screwed up the DirectInput drivers through Windows Update. The temporary solution until Microsoft fixes it is for AutoHotkey to support only the first controller attached to the system. Otherwise it was crashing constantly on many peoples' systems and was causing all kinds of problems. So I'm guessing that what's happening is that you're using a controller that isn't the only attached controller on your system?
