@Jason sorry havnt been on in a few days as had family visiting just updated to latest beta running very smooth no problems so far animations seem smooth love the new sound additions they seem to be working fine as well, games launching smoothly so far all seems well with the new beta no problems so far. ps:- for people who have lag problems i would advise them to have their boxart the same ie all nintendo box covers the same size, all arcade etc (doesnt have to be the same size in every platform but the same size per platform) Also have their fanart the same size (doesnt have to be the same size in every platform but the same size per fanart image in a platform)as i found that having different sizes (in a single platform) will cause lag in those platforms.

@Jason no stability issues here either last beta or this new one went through most platforms fast and their games in BigBox no slowdowns tiny bit of lag in nintendo 64 platform scrolling through the games but less than a second so overall very very good. Didnt notice the error in updating as i tend to update through LaunchBox and always do a clean images and cache before updating. No slowdown in games ran few dolphin and ps2 games briefly as they tend to be the most cpu and gpu intensive platforms and noticed no problems (and safetly say mine is one of the oldest computers 2006 model) with an intel motherboard.

@Jason new transitions are very smooth and are working good am more and more a BigBox user also my daughter loves it as well (and the animations transitions) and is getting better than me at manouevering around it. As for the direction of BigBox i wouldnt like it to change more like LaunchBox with borders etc, if there was then possibly there wouldnt need to be a BigBox mode, LaunchBox on its own would suffice. As for platform images if people dont like the images they can change them through LaunchBox platforms to images they'd prefer themselves personally i like the majority of the images supplied and any ones i wanted to change i have. Looking forward to the next release already. And thanks for such a wonderful frontend.

@Jason just thought of one thing before i go can you do a password for the options in BigBox as would be handy for when i do arcade machine to have the options locked.

@SentaiBrad mine are too clicking on libraries gives me the option to go to my documents through IrfanView and into Launchbox and into its Images folder.

From@Jason Martin, the fanart image size thing is really good to know. I suppose it makes sense that resizing the images might take a bit of time. I suppose LaunchBox could resize the images in a cache automatically, but that'd certainly take up a lot of hard drive space, and it'd take even longer on initial load. @Jason Its easy for people to do themselves. IrfanView is a free program you can download. install it. Open up IrfanView, Click on File, then click on Batch Conversion. Pick your output format either jpg or png, then click on advanced tab and set new size to what ever you want an click on ok. On the right hand side top use the up arrow till you get to desktop and pick Libraries, then documents, then LaunchBox and then images folder. Pick the Platform go into Fanart folder etc, and then click add all. On the left hand side set a directory for output files. In my case i used a folder on Desktop and called it Cover. Then click on Start Batch. It is very fast at converting and will take less than a minute for over 200 images. when finished close down IrfanView. Cut all the converted images from the Folder Cover and paste them into the folder in Launchbox Images you had selected to convert and paste them into that folder, they will overwrite the files in there with the same names as the files they are overwriting. do this for each platform, you will do 40 platforms + in less than an hour.

@Jason Love the new beta and the screen animations have set to random too. Have Net Framework 4.5.2 installed since it came out yonks ago always keep it up to date as well a the C++ Redistributable's both x64 and x86 from 2008 onwards. However the lag was still visible in the same platforms i mentioned in an earlier post. So i went into my fanart folder in those platforms and converted all the Fanart to the same sizes using the batch convert in Irfanview (took about 5 minutes per platform) as all my boxart are the same size, this has improved the animation transitions a hell of a lot lag now almost gone in those platforms. Think having all different size images in Fanart was causing most of the Lag.
-
@Jason dont know if this will help but the platforms that there are lag in transitions showing single image sometimes instead of animation are Atari 5200, Nintendo 64, Sega 32x, Super Nintendo Entertainment System and TurboGrafx the transitions through games seem fine very minor lag in the other 34 platforms. Used your zip from earlier post for BigBox, which sorted out same type lag in other platforms also have BigBox added to application settings in graphics card.
-
@Jason why not leave the animations on for scrolling through platforms in BigBox and just do a setting for turning on or off the animations in scrolling through the games, that way people who are having major lag problems can turn it off and people who want to keep the animations on can. Personally i like the animations. My images is 3.46gb and while there is some lag i find it acceptable.

@Jason just updated to new beta works really love the transitions animations in BigBox no problems still as fast and fluid my specs as Core 2 Duo E5200@2.5ghz 4MB RAM Graphics Card (replacement one fan kicked out on last one) Asus Radeon R7 250 1GB DDR5 memory might be a good ideal for people to post their specs, whether Dedicated Graphics Card, Onboard Graphics, make etc for troubleshooting purposes. My machine is a really old machine came out in 2006 and has no problems with newest update.(thus far lol)

Very nice i like the comic layout its something i have to get into futher for my daughter in time.

While the 32x was a peripheral it had its own processors Two Hitachi SH2 32-bit RISC processors with a clock speed of 23 MHz as well as 256kb ram. Although the Genesis and the MegaDrive are the same for most of the world it was called the Genesis but in Japan it was known as the Megadrive a name i think to go with what they were familiar with and appeal to them such as Mega Godzilla etc and so anyone using the Japanese games would probably like the inclusion of MegaDrive.
-
True but as long as they can be deleted even though they arent there lol, at least thats a workaround.
-
@Jason I noticed a few updates ago there was no metadata for Sammy Atomiswave, Sega 32x, Sega MegaDrive, Sega Model 2, Sega Model 3, Sega Naomi, Sega Naomi 2, Sega SG-1000, Sega system 16 and Sega System 32 i filled in those in Manage platform details can upload xml if you need those?

Well after a few hours later cleaning out phantom images LaunchBox is back up to fluidity and speed and after deleting all in the images cache folder in LaunchBox the thumbnail cache on computer seems to have done the trick (fingers crossed) will know with the next update lol.
