No other player installed all codec installed videos play in pc no problem havnt tried another file in BBM just one to try and get it working before i download any as testing to get working so i can link ones for my daughter games. All youtube videos play with potplayer its a fantastic player launch all my videos through shortcuts in another version of LaunchBox 4.9 and they all work flawlessly. Thanks anyway will wait for Jason to answer maybe its the format mp4.

Hi garbanzo you can then make a shortcut to that version of Launchbox and put it in present LaunchBox say under platforms, and you'll be able to click on that shortcut and go to that instance of LaunchBox (works really well if its a previous version of LaunckBox).

Hi can confirm @Jason that BigBox is no longer freezing or locking up, fast and very very smooth, but however i still cannot get video to play the video clip in question is in mp4 format, it is in the videos folder of LaunchBox, it shows and goes straight to where video is in platform video browse, also populated itself in other tab under right click on game edit, but still refuses to play. My Default player is Daum Potplayer all my movies play with it, the video clip in question works outside of LaunchBox and Bigbox, it is named same as game also, Popplayer is set to automatically play video when an mp4 is clicked on, also video clip was downloaded from youtube. So dont know what im doing wrong, or that Potplayer isnt compatible with BigBox? I can see the link in BigBox for playing video, when i click on this all i get is a blank black screen, how ever clip doesnt show under the boxart.

@Jason hi another problem has cropped in LaunchBox itself. Went back and put the video into the New Video folder the one for Gamecube, then went into LaunchBox Right clicked on Game James Bond Everything or Nothing went to other, video and pointed to where the video is then pressed ok. Now Game boxart for that game disappeared for that game see screenshot Right clicked on game again went to edit it shows the Boxart in the edit but the video field has now de-populated itself see screenshot Pressed ok Boxart is still missing from LaunchBox, the Artwork is still in the images folder i checked it is showing perfectly in BigBox i checked, but for some strange reason it will not show in LaunchBox its invisible will try and deleted the images through edit again and re-add them and see will that fix the problem? Right just now tried that same result as first screenshot invisible in Launchbox only thing is to delete game and re-install and see if that will fix probleb be back in mo. Sorry for delaying there, deleted the game then went to clean images couldnt clean the images got this message see screenshot Went into Task Manager went to processes tab to check what processes were running, it was BigBox it is not closing itself down even though i had exited out of it nearly an hour ago see screenshot Closed down the process went back into LaunchBox re-installed the Game added the Images and okayed it, hey presto images are back game is working. Id safetly say Jason that something is wrong with BigBox when it is not exiting and closing down process BigBox as you can see from supplied screenshot and maybe this is having the adverse effect on freezing as maybe there is a vica versa going on when using BigBox maybe LaunchBox process is not closing down but no way to check as when you close bigBox LaunchBox closes as well. Lucky the Image problem happened or wouldnt have caught that BigBox process wasnt closing. Hopefully the information supplied will put you on the right track to fixing the minor niggling problems and maybe its related to video not working properly, knowing that you as always will sort out the problems in time

Hi @Jason latest beta cause frequent lockups in BigBox when you scroll down your emulators go over to games last played click on a game instead of launching a video associated with that game all i get is a black screen pressing esc shows the name of game as if BigBox is looking for it but it finds nothing. Pressing esc again rings you back to the games played updated when you try and move across to list of emulators o left hand side BigBox totally freezes only pressing ctrl alt del numerous times will get you out of this freeze or power button press to reboot computer. Also clicking on any recently played game in amy emulator list that has no video associated with it will cause a freeze up. Tried what @Kriven suggested above "The latest beta build includes the option to associate a video file with your games. You can find this option by going to a game in the LaunchBox Manager view (not its official name...) and right clicking any game. Click "Edit" and select the "Other" tab. You will see options for Game Manual, Game Music, Game Video, and Sort Title. Associated videos will play automatically when browsing games in Big Box" but that doesnt work either no video plays although it plays fine outside of LaunchBox BigBox in mp4 format. Also tried with putting video in new video folder that is now in LaunchBox still no go, also not all video folders for all emulators are populating on 11 out of the 28 i have have populated into that video folder. Also tried putting the video into the roms folder (i have all games in each emulator in each emulators folder) ie dolphin emulator folder inside dolphin called gameCube Roms etc). Also tried the Platform option in LaunchBox and pointed t where my roms are and my videos still cannot get video to work. I only have one video it for gamecube game James Bond 007 Everything or Nothing, even named video exactly the same as game still no video plays, dont know what im doing wrong think you need to do a video tutorial for this LOL, well that all the information hope it helps you sort thhings out. apart from that freezing which is associated to clicking on a recently played game Bigbox if you dont touch that recently played game list across bottom of BigBox works fine and fast even with different controllers have a generic usb one called uxp bought from china years ago and it works in every emulator perfectly as well as LaunchBox, BigBox also bought one of the usb converters the cheap blue ones and ps2 controllers work of the bat with it without having to install any drivers they are seen in win7 x64 as dual usb gamepads ant the d pad works amazing even wth both ps2 controllers plugged into blue usb adapter of one usb port.

Yes SentaiBrad is right making a shortcut of anything in windows under LaunchBox will open anything you want once you point to the shortcut, even another instance of Launchboxthat is how i watch films listen to music having the player open up through a shortcut open my computers dvd even the internet or word processors

hi ps4 why not get more memory and create a ramdisk for a particular game you have problems running some gamers swear it boost game speed by 50% plus

@ZedSpot tried the above method you described but unfortunately it wouldnt work for me as it wouldnt allow the full command line to be put into the properties target of the shortcut (if you notice in the example it gives, the paths to the emulator, games and inis as fairly short, however my paths to emulator, game and inis were longer and windows 7 wouldnt allow my longer path names to fully go into the properties target in the shortcut). That is why i did the above script in order to get my individual games to work and each have their own configuration. So afraid i dont know any other way, as for the unique memory cards i dont know either, hopefully someone else here on the forum might be able to help as my game saves save to the individual inis in each of the games folders.

Totally agree @DOS76 it fars surpasses anything else as an all round easily navigateable frontend even tried software and internet shortcuts through what i call my media centre ver 4.9 and they all launch perfect as well. the reason i numbered the media, films, tv series is to have them in alphabetical order which works really nice, so in my opinion for Jason to incorporate media into LaunchBox is to have a previous no frills version of LaunchBox rename it what he wants, without the emulators, incorporated into the latest version of LaunchBox, with the platform settings and most of the sidebar settings kept intact for it as well and hes there.

Agree @Jason keep the desktop mode for all installations of emu's platforms art etc as its quick to do all the maintenance tasks needed. Only thing i need is to be able to uninstall DosBox, ScummVm and CDRDAO from version 4.9 as i use that for movie collection with a shortcut in latest LaunchBox and it works flawlessly in conjunction with BigBox making Films and music readily accessible, but no need for those three items in it. Media LaunchBox 4.9

Another one would be re-applying thermal paste on cpu and graphics card evey year to 18 months a good quality paste like artic mx-4 just small blob in middle of cpu/gpu and pressure of reseating fan will spread it evenly for you. Also keeping drivers up to date.

Already have added to exceptions on more than one occasion ps4, but same with avast tried it few months back and it slowed computer down really bad so uninstalled and went straight back to avg, but saying that nor being able to report false positives to them is a bummer.

Looks really nice will try out over the next few days, love the controller support in BigBox working really well at moment can't find any bugs thus far in it, smooth and fast now scrolling through and starting emulation, seem to be using BigBox mode more so than LaunchBox itself.

Watched video looks cool but says something for amd processors when they use an intel core i7 instead of their own latest cpu, tells everyone their chips are below par with intel ones.

Hi KyaeroSaber the only thing i can suggest is to use something like AutoHotkey and AutoScriptWriter which could help in launching individual games with the emulator you use. Google both there are loads of tutorials in their use online.

Your right jason tried to contact them myself the link on their homepage to report such things as false positives guess what? brings you to their homepage go figure. When you finally get onto a page for support and fill in form for to report issues such as false positives, after filling in form giving your email address etc you get something similar to a catcha a game basket, you have to pick and put cosmetics into a purse to prove your a human, when you click on continue when your done, which is supposed to finish the reporting nothing happens, even an hour later its still sending the damn report. Looks like ill have to find another antivirus programme but have been with avg since they came out and have never gotten a virus on any computer. So no wonder avg cannot tell good software from bad as they cannot get their own reporting software to work.

Hi @jasoncarr AVG's newest virus defination updates is showing LaunchBox yet again as a virus, i would advise anyone who uses AVG not to have it set to remove virus's immediately as it will just delete the LaunchBox exe and the shortcut but not touch anything else folders backups etc, it shows it as IDP.ALEXA.42. This is a false positive yet again from AVG only its new update definations tonight Whilst having this version of LaunchBox on computer since last beta update and avg only showing it now weeks later GO FIGURE they seem to like to do this for LaunchBox every few weeks (Do they dislike it or something) , i think you should contact them and ask why they seem to be targeting LaunchBox every so often, i did a full system scan with Malwarebytes with the latest version and updates and LaunchBox is like always as CLEAN AS A WHISTLE See below results from Malwarebytes So for anyone with AVG antivirus make sure they have it set to ask before removing threats otherwise they will lose their Launchbox exe and shortcut.
