    I can't attest to manually adding PSVita games, but if using the Vita3k emulator you should be able to just add the games in the emulator itself (thus creating its virtual hard drive [which I believe is key to having them work in the emulator]) then add the emulator to LaunchBox.  The auto import feature (if enabled) should then scan the emulator and auto import "its" games.  Originally implemented in version 13.15 and "fixed" in 13.19.

    Appreciate the prompt reply, but I don't use the auto import feature and don't plan on using it. I love a lot of the features that LB has but I found that particular feature more frustrating than helpful after trying it out for a few months. @Jason Carr @faeran Manually adding games for the PS Vita should definitely be addressed as it was a relatively simple process with previous versions of LaunchBox but now it simply isn't working.

  2. Not sure what happened, but I once used this method several times before for PS Vita without any issues and now it doesn't work. My guess is that the new PSVita importing feature that was recently implemented has messed this up somehow. Can anyone help because every time I try to import multiple .txt files, it comes up empty, as shown in the screenshot below. I've also tried importing the game folders, the individual eboot.bin files and none of these methods worked either.

    Another update: Can confirm that this is an issue related with the latest versions of LaunchBox. I just tried an older version (13.18) and the importing method for PSVita games works fine, but there's basically no way to manually import PSVita games with the latest versions of the program

  3. After trying it out and several other frontends over the past 10 - 20 years, I have to say NeoStation is an interesting project and it's definitely nice to have some friendly competition with other frontends like this one, but it's nowhere near what Launchbox/BigBox is or was. And I have a feeling that once it becomes more developed and adopts many of the same features that are used in Launchbox, it will likely become "increasingly heavy" too. As for the Android version of Launchbox, that's a completely different story as there are definitely better options available such as Daijisho, EmulationStation, Beacon, etc. Although, it's nice to have Launchbox as an available option, and I certainly hope that NeoStation will become a popular frontend of choice for Android in the near future as well.

    EDIT: Tested and works great with the settings i post above.

    Had the same issue here trying to run fullscreen but I downloaded the latest version from their Discord and it seems to be fixed now. Thanks a lot for the tip!

    Improvement: The Edit Game window now includes Next/Previous buttons, allowing you to quickly navigate through the list you opened it from

    This is an excellent addition in the latest beta, and something I've been wanting for quite a while! Thanks a lot for adding this feature in there

    Could someone share this theme because as you can see it has been deleted 😕

    Good news: I was able to find that theme stashed away in one of my backup drives. However, upon testing earlier today I found that it crashes and shuts BigBox down completely. It was originally from 2018 or 2019 and I can imagine a lot of the BigBox programming-code has changed since then, if not all of it. If you want though, I'll upload it here. You can take a look at the files and maybe fix it somehow if you know how to code with XAML, or another option is try rebuilding it with the images that are included in there with the Community Theme Creator (check the downloads section)

    Unfortunately, the person who originally created and uploaded this theme hasn't been here in quite a while. Also, I had this theme installed and I recall that it would no longer work after some of the recent updates made to BigBox. It would crash as soon as I started up BigBox, and would only work with much older versions of the program, and that happened around 2 to 3 years ago. However, I'll check and see if I still have this theme somewhere on my computer and will upload it here a little later.

    This theme is clean and responsive. I've been using it as my favorite.
    @bundangdon could you tell me how I can change the font below the game's clean logo?

    If possible, I wanted to leave the same font as the game details, or a softer one.

    image.thumb.png.6fdb62ade49dfbffc2f07f07fa2df4c9.png

    Thanks!

    Thanks a lot! Not sure if I can help out since I didn't make/write any of the code for this theme. I basically just did a lot of copying and pasting with some help from folks like @faeran and a few other very helpful people in the LB community. I really liked this theme and wanted to put the new features that had been added over the past 4-5 years in there, as the original LBPlex theme hadn't been updated in so long while also being given permission to share this modified version by the original coder @Grila. However, I looked at some of the code now in the file "GameDetailsView.xaml" (in the "Views" folder) and noticed that the font being used there is "Segoe UI" (check line 58) and the code for that particular location you mentioned is here: (line 207)

                  <panel:OutlinedTextBlock Text="{Binding PlatformReleaseDate}" Fill="{Binding ForegroundBrush}" TextWrapping="Wrap"

    If anyone else with some coding knowledge can decipher that area, then maybe you might be able to find a way to change the font in that area of the xaml file.

    After further testing, I have noticed a similar issue in LB (Win 11). Difficult to reproduce, does not happen consistently, but seems like selecting another game or right clicking another game while playing video, it will briefly hang and then a quick hard crash of the app.

    Yep, this is pretty much an accurate description of the bug I came across as well.

  10. With the latest beta-update, LaunchBox is crashing whenever a video plays and then I navigate to anything else in the program, using the new FFMPEG video engine. Never had this issue happen before with VLC

  11. The new "Platform Hybrid" view is nice and smooth, but I did notice one problem. It may only be on my end, but I'm not able to go back to the Platform Categories menu while using this particular view. From a games menu, the ESC keys works fine, but it won't work when I want to go back to the (first) Platform Categories menu. I have to use another method like changing a view with a hotkey to get out of the Platforms and get back to the Platform Categories menu.

  12. As @Suhrvivor mentioned, I'd get rid of Rocketlauncher as it's pretty much obsolete and Launchbox can provide most of its functions, or you can use the Bezel Project and other plugins to get the job done. However, if you still need to use Rocketlauncher, here's an old but still relevant method-tutorial on how to use the two programs together.

    Any idea what the command line would be to get them to run in launchbox?

    Altirra doesn't require any special command line in Launchbox and should just run the games directly even if they're compressed. As an option though, you can add "/f" (remove the quotes) to the default command-line parameters if you want the games to open full screen.

    Thank you. Stupid question, does AppleWin need to be in the Launchbox\Emulators folder or can it be anywhere? I assume it doesn't auto install like RetroArch did when importing ROMS.

    It really shouldn't matter where it's located, as long as you set up Launchbox properly and put the proper location in the "Application Path" within the emulator configuration

    Looking for settings to setup AppleWin. The link at the beginning of the topic is dead.

    Hopefully this will help you out. The following setup works for me, using AppleWin with disk-based games.

    In "Default Command Line Parameters" use: -f -d1

    Also, if you want to use the 'esc' key to exit, enter the following in "Running Script"

    ; This section closes AppleWin when pressing Escape
     $Esc::
     {
         Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}}
     }

    In 7+ years of updates the one thing LB has never resolved is speed.

    Put 1 system on it and you will be flying ...

    Put 200+ systems on like a Hyperspin setup and it's literally unusable.

    Hyperspin 2.0 is literally using the same processes as LB is now and let's just say it's woeful in comparison to Hyperspin 1.5

    Hyperspin/RocketLauncher literally had it all, yet for some insane reason they decided to go another way for 2.0.

    I'm certainly not a 'techie' who can back up this theory, but in my opinion there's only 1 reason why the original Hyperspin runs so fast/smooth. It's because HS is such an old program with very few features which is now running on (mostly) modern day machines. I'm sure if you ran an older version of Launchbox from 2015, you'd get much faster results too. That's a theory that probably needs to be tested though.

    Know Fact HS runs faster.. Tons of post topics on it.. Still staying positive it come's around..

    HS only runs faster because it has a very limited amount of features and looks like a windows program from 20 years ago (which it basically is). Anyone could search the internet for weeks and not find "tons of post topics" about HS running faster. Having said all of that, I do hope its new version does perform well because it's nice to see HS making progress and it's nice to see some competition happening.

    And depending on how long ago that was, ffmpeg also gets their own updates, so you never know these days.

    Good observation. Are you still crashing in beta 4? I'm not crashing when using your theme but it brought up a good point that the old star rating elements (which were just text and didn't ever perform well), were replaced with new elements that play a lot nicer. Looks like the old element still needs the binding refresh treatment in order for them to properly show the correct user rating. We'll get that done before release.

    @faeran Yep, still having the same issue unfortunately with beta 4. It happens randomly after the 4th or 5th time I change a star rating in LaunchBox

    Good deal. Not sure exactly what the issue was. If it was with the theme itself everyone would be getting the error, but since I wasn't, I can only assume it was a combination of some theme code and another factor on your machine.

    @faeran Thanks again for the quick follow up. I did a little more observing and investigating recently. I may have found out exactly where and how it's crashing with this particular "LBPlex 2023" theme. Whenever I go to change the star-rating in the right hand side (games detail) panel, LaunchBox crashes immediately afterwards. However, it doesn't crash like this with other LB themes. I guess that might help clear things up a bit, as it's another issue related to the stars ratings and LB custom themes.

    Something you can do as a good way to test attract mode.

    • Make sure you are using the default theme and mark down which platform and game views you are using
    • Make sure you are using VLC as the playback engine (WMP has known long term memory leak issues)
    • Make sure you aren't using any third party integrations that could impact the test, LEDBlinky and things like that

    Test long term and see if you are seeing the same results. If you are:

    • Remove both your Images and Videos folder

    Test long term and see if you are seeing the same results. If not, bring back either the Images or Videos folder and test again. If you crash, then you know it's something in one of those folders.

    After that, you can PM me your results, along with your system specs.

    The good news is that this has been a thing for a while. Remove your current games from the Vita platform, make sure Vita3k is configured and working and add it to LaunchBox. We scrape the emulator itself and import games directly from it during the auto-import process.

    Thanks for the report.

    First guess is that this could be an unintended side-effect of the .NET 9 update. We will see what we uncover and see if there's anything we can do about it.

    That's too bad. I downloaded your theme, but am not seeing what you are seeing, so it's probably not related to the theme itself. It could be related to your data files in some way. You could send me a PM of your data files and I may have some time to look into this later this week.

    You can also test whether it's a theme specific issue just by changing your theme and seeing if that stops the crashing for you.

    @faeran Thanks again for getting back to me on this error/issue. I tried out another theme, the newly released "Frogg" LB theme and haven't had any issues happen in the past few days of testing. So, it's probably safe to assume there's something in the latest beta code that's causing issues with the older custom themes?

    Did some testing, but not seeing this unfortunately. It could possibly be related to an additional app launching or a specific hardware configuration. Might be worth opening its own troubleshooting thread on it.

    Thanks. This is a known issue with the beta and will be fixed before release.

    Star rating is a known issue with the beta and will be fixed before release.

    It definitely could be an issue with your theme, although the entire crash report is being cut off. Do you have a special version of the theme that's not up on the forums?

    Thanks a lot for the quick reply. This theme is available in the forums and can be found here:

    @faeran I've been using this custom theme for the past 3 years or so, and this is the first time I've come across these frequent errors/crashes. My guess is that the latest changes caused some issues with some of the custom LB themes

  22. @faeran @Jason Carr I've reported this error on bitbucket about a week ago, but with the latest beta, Launchbox is doing a lot of random crashing on me. I'm assuming it's an issue with the theme I'm using (LBPlex 2023), although I've never had any crashes like this before the recent betas were released. Also, there's a weird issue with the star ratings, as they're showing inaccurate/wrong stars on the screen - for example the game has a community rating of 4.3 but there are 2.5 stars there. My somewhat educated guess is that this custom theme was messed up by the recent changes in the latest beta? Hope you guys can help out somehow

    I've been playing with the HyperSpin 2.0 beta for a few hours now.  Unfortunately, the beta is super buggy, and doesn't work most of the time.

    Same here. I haven't used HS for several years but I'm a "Platinum" member and tried out their latest 2.0 release a few days ago. It's pretty buggy and disappointing from what I've noticed, and actually I was looking forward to trying it out with a pretty open mind at the same time. The HyperHQ program is decent enough but it just seems like a very scaled down version of LaunchBox or PlayNite. I give the creators/programmers credit for trying to 'revive' Hyperspin, but I think it may have become something worse than what it originally was. It's still early in the game, though.
