    Is there really no option to turn off the 3D models? It shouldn't be mandatory to have them...I feel like its extra taxing on my PC and made the scrolling slower.

    I just prefer the nice 2D images (its how I've always had my emulators)

    Please with a future update, have an option to turn them off

    This is just a quick solution, but if you're using BigBox, you can use an older theme and they should be turned off in most cases. For example, I'm using the "Unified Lives" theme and the 3D models aren't appearing on the screen

  2. For all of you Atari Jaguar fans, a new Atari Jaguar emulator has been released, named "BigPEmu". Supposedly it's the program-emulator used in the Atari 50th Anniversary Collection and has a 100% compatibility rate, including CD games (updated 2/10/23). Can't really confirm that just yet, but so far, I've got it working fine and it's running smoothly with no extra parameters in LaunchBox. Here's the link to the author's homepage:

    Someone on YouTube recently posted a video about it too earlier today. Here's the link:

    Beta 2 is out now with the following changes:

    • New Premium Feature: LaunchBox now supports 3D models for boxes as well; they are available in most existing themes in the Game Details panel and can be rotated with a mouse or a controller
    • New Feature: 3D model settings are now available as platform-specific settings under Tools > Manage > Platforms in LaunchBox. Each platform now has a new "3D Model Settings" tab that lets you customize everything from what type of box to use to the sizing and coloring of the boxes.
    • Fixed: The Big Box Theme Manager should once again be accessible (introduced in 13.0 beta 1)

    Wow! Very cool feature! It's a lot of fun playing around with the 3D models in Launchbox. Thanks a lot for adding this.

    @faeran @Jason Carr I'm not sure if I missed this somewhere, but is it possible to reorganize the order of the images on the right panel? For example, the 3D model (box) is the first image, but I'd rather have the screenshot there first instead, like it was before this release

    Something else is going on then and it is not solely related to the AHK script. The Process, Close may be working because it is a force shutdown (akin to using Force Close in Task Manager) and is not allowing the errors to show.

    My recommendation to use that version was as a general rule. Using the Process, Close is a force shutdown as mentioned and the more users spread that script in their settings eventually they will use it with an emulator that does save on shutdown (Higan was the example we first identified this with as it saves game save data when it closes. Can also affect Cemu).  We have been trying to get users away from that but unfortunately new users keep passing that script along in posts.

    Yep, unfortunately this has been an ongoing issue for quite some time between Teknoparrot and Launchbox, and I've seen it reported in various places, including other forums. But thanks a lot for the advice/info. In the meantime, I'll only use this script with Teknoparrot and keep it away from any other emulator's configuration.

    Recommend anywhere you use the script below to get rid of it:

    It will prevent a program or emulator from saving data on exit. Use the below version instead.

    Esc::
    {
        WinClose, ahk_exe {{{StartupEXE}}}
    }

    Unfortunately though, that script doesn't solve the Teknoparrot issue within Launchbox/BigBox. I just tried that script now and a bunch of errors appear after closing Teknoparrot. Besides, I don't think Teknoparrot needs to save any data while exiting?

    Figured it out on my end, after trial and error and many 4 letter words lol.  The "$" causes the error.  Add this to the running script for the emulator, EXACTLY:

    Esc::
    {
        Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}}
    }

    Wow, this worked for me too! Thanks a lot for sharing this quick-fix! On the down-side of things, however, LaunchBox's shutdown screen doesn't work with this, unless I'm doing something wrong?

    I think all the themes work on every platform including Minimis. I'm using it on Windows. Pegasus has few options and it even feels too simple, but I found out that I don't really need a feature creep frontend. I love Launchbox for keeping my data up to date, but I'm not fan of BigBox. For me it's too sluggish and I really hate xaml 🙂

    To each his/her own I guess. I've tried pretty much every frontend out there, and in terms of simplicity, I like EmulationStation the best (the build used in Batocera, not the original version) and for a  much more feature-rich and full experience I'll stick with Launchbox/BigBox

    Going to put this theme on hold indefinitely. Found Pegasus Fe + Minimis. That theme is just perfect for me. So bye for now.

    Does this mean that you'll be developing themes for Pegasus also? I've tried it myself and wasn't all that impressed, although could certainly see some potential. My biggest gripes are that Pegasus is very user-unfriendly and the themes I've seen for it all look like duplicates of AttractMode and EmulationStation themes. As for "Minimis", isn't that only an Android-based theme?

  9. @faeran this is an excellent update, and includes a feature that I've been hoping to see for quite a long time! Thanks so much again, as always! I have one question, however. In the platform details, how can I change the code so that the .png image (of the system) doesn't have the black box around it? For a more clear explanation, please check the image-example below

    Untitled.jpg

    Update: Never mind! I found the answer :) Just change the word "black" to "transparent" and the issue is solved

    You can't alter default in it's folder, you need to copy the folder (and rename it) and then change files there or your changes will get overwritten on startup

    Okay, that makes sense. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks again for the help!

  11. 12 hours ago, C-Beats said:

    That behavior IS the solution, we aren't adding that functionality to the Default theme. Were you altering files in the default folder or did you copy the files to a different folder first?

    I was just trying to alter the TextListView.xaml in the original "Default" theme folder, just to see if I could get that functionality to work, without any success as mentioned before. Maybe it can't be applied to this theme?

    The document WAS updated, I just forgot we had a modified date at the top when I added my bits to it. You need to run Big Box once for it to appear, but after that you should see the change. The new doc is something like 16 pages longer than the old one so there definitely PLENTY of good stuff in there to be had.

    @bundangdon The behavior your looking for is listed on the last page of the doc

    Thanks a lot @C-Beats I was able to find the information on pages 36-37 regarding the ability to center the selected item in the text list view. However, I wasn't able to get it to work with the default theme. Since I'm no expert in coding (far from it too), this was no surprise to me. For now, I'll just wait until a solution comes along

    Hey guys, in the new update, 12.14. It says we have new theme documentation, located in the Themes folder where the old one was. Looking over it, I don't really see any new info? I did only do a quick Tab vs Tab comparison in Adobe Reader, so I didn't read too deep into the pages. Has the info changed?

    +1 on this. I was looking for info on how to keep the selected item centered in textlistview (among others) but couldn't find anything there. It says "Last Updated March, 2021" so that was either an error or it hasn't been updated yet

    The new default theme won't be doing this, but this is possible without a plugin. If you are wanting to learn how to do this you can make a post in one of the theme sections and I can reply there.

    Okay, thanks for the response. Actually, I tried to use Grilla's original plugin and followed his instructions but I don't think it applies to this theme. The code looked a lot different than his examples and instructions

  15. Really liking this new "Default" theme with the latest beta update. But as much as I like the newer version, @faeran is there any possibility that the selected items in platforms and games (text) list can be centered? Or, is there a way to use the existing plugin (that is often used with other themes) in this one, so that the selected platform/game can be centered?

    Beta 2 is out with the following changes:

    • Improvement: Some Big Box popups will now work across more resolutions and aspect ratios
    • Fixed: Corrected a navigation issue when backing out from one view to another
    • Fixed: Navigation issue within the Favorites and Recent Games thumbnails on some platform views
    • Fixed: Big Box controller navigation issues in certain configuration setups

    @Fursphere@bundangdon@TheNewClassics Can you download beta 2 and let us know if the navigation issues you were facing have been fixed.

    Thanks everyone for helping test the beta.

    Can also confirm that the 'esc' key is working again and the "navigation issue" has been resolved :) Thanks a lot for the latest beta-fix and the new default theme in BigBox looks very nice!
