  1. It’s just a very quick test on how it would look like and how easy it would be to change things. It’s more like a prototype and not intended to be really used. Just wanted to share the idea :) And to be honest I only understand maybe the half of what I’ve actually done, it was a lot of trial and error Embarassed I have finals in a few weeks and I don’t think that I would have the time and mood to learn XAML before August. So if someone wants to jump in and make a great view out of the idea with additional game info, etc you’re more than welcome. I think in combination with the planned background video feature (which could be used for HS widescreen themes) it could really look quite awesome. Especially if BigBox could automatically change between the video background and the 4:3 theme view based on the aspect ratio of the videos. Maybe Jason could even add a new folder for video themes so that we don’t have to replace the normal EmuMovies gameplay videos with the video themes. On this way it would be pretty easy to switch between the clean and flashy views without any hassle. Also I need to mention that theme recording is VERY time consuming. It took me almost two hours to record, edit and render the 16 themes. So helping hands on that matter would be more than appreciated and if someone needs to know what program and settings I used to edit and render the videos let me know.
  2. I’ve changed the Wheel view for the games to show gameplay videos with an 4:3 aspect ratio in fullscreen. The view is intended to play recorded standard HyperSpin themes as videos and it seems to work pretty good so far.     That's exactly the method that I'm using, so I'm pretty sure it's still happening on your side because those are the old files created with a previous version of Lightspeed. Try to sort by size and look at the dates, so you can spot the old files more easily. If you double click any of them and you still get an error, that means they are the old files. If you remove them and let Lightspeed re-create them your problem should be gone.
    You’re absolutely right: Sorry but I thought I had deleted all the dummy .zip files after each test run. I must’ve forgotten it after my last test. It works completely fine now!

    They are not actual duplicates. They are different versions. If you uncheck the options to remove tags you will notice that their names are different. Two things about what you are seeing as a problem: 1) since Naomi is unsupported (or barely supported ) by MAME at this point, a lot of those should be considered clones, I believe, but they are not (open the listxml.xml file and take a look at some of those entries). 2) Some of those entries have two versions, one of them being the GD-ROM version. So the game name should be the same, but they are in fact different, technically speaking. I could add another option to parse only regular, GD-ROM or both, but this is another thing. What Lightspeed is reporting at this point seem correct in relation to MAME xml.
    Yeah, I said that they were different versions, but if it’s basically the same game (no matter the version) it’s a duplicate for me, sorry for the confusion. I also thought that it wasn’t a problem of your tool because they all miss the clone tags, so no worries. But I wondered that all the non-supported systems like Model 2, Model 3, Atomiswave, hadn’t such “problems” and I thought I should mention it. It’s no biggie at all.
  4. I can confirm that. I saw the movie last week and it’s not a masterpiece but still a pretty enjoyable movie. I’m a huge WarCraft 3 fan and it was definitely the movie I’ve wanted for so long. If you like WarCraft you will most likely the movie too. Also I want to say thanks for your work on this @Antropus. The CGI is top notch! You CGI guys definitely get not the appreciation you deserve!

  6. I guess that you are very proud that your tool works literally with lightspeed and I must admit that it impresses me every time. But what prevents you to just make this optional? A checkbox with a little note that it will slow down the import would completely work for me. Of course there are some people who don’t really care about the notes and love the speed of the program but on the other hand there exists people like me who want proper and accurate metadata and don’t mind to wait a little bit longer. To be honest I don’ really care if the import takes a few seconds or a few minutes as long as the result is good. Your tool could probably take an hour I would still love it :)
  7. So I just tested the new version and I just love it! But I also noticed a few things: 1. When I try to start a CHD game with a companion ROM that was created through Lightspeed I get this error message: error.jpg It doesn’t matter if I try to start the game through LaunchBox or within MAMEUIFX itself. I always get the same error. Well, the game starts anyway but before I can play I have to confirm 4 times the same error message. 2. Like you said is the fix for export releases not perfectly working. So I did go through every game of the “All Killer, No Filler” filter and created a list of all games which only refer to another game version in the notes, because I think that the games which are considered as the best what MAME offers should have proper notes :) Note: Some games were imported multiple times in different versions, so I’ve ignored them if one version had the notes of the parent. If a game had detailed notes for its export release or updated version I ignored it as well.

  8. It’s normal that the value has changed back to true. Otherwise LB would try to reorganize the images every time when you start it. Have you refreshed your images in LB? Tools -> Refresh All Images

  10. Actually this was just added with 6.0. Just put your fanart/background image for your platform in “\LaunchBox\Images\Platforms\AnyPlatformYouWant\Fanart”. Every game which hasn’t its own fanart will automatically use the fanart folder from the system which it is assigned to.

So it happened that I just watched the newest clips from the Complete Unnecessary Podcast of Pat “the NES Punk” Contri and Ian Ferguson and couldn’t believe my eyes as I saw that there was little sponsoring clip for the LaunchBox database at the beginning of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zn0ckiI4HUA Awesome to see that LaunchBox Premium seems to sell so well that there’s some advertising budget to sponsor one the best gaming podcasts. I also applaud you @Jason for the great choice you did on where to advertise LaunchBox. Is it the only project you sponsor or there are some others I don’t know of? :)
  12. Hi @bmonomad MEAGRE supports mass export to LaunchBox including all Images and most of the Metadata. But only in the newest version (which comes only with the Win3xO collection and unfortunately not with eXoDOS itself). But you can easily download the newest version from their site and update your MEAGRE version. Here’s a quick tutorial which I wrote: 1. Close LaunchBox and MEAGRE 2. Download the newest MEAGRE .exe file from here: https://sites.google.com/site/meagrefrontend/download 3. Replace the old MEAGRE.exe with the new one 4. Open MEAGRE –> Edit –> Export to LaunchBox -> choose your LaunchBox.xml and wait until everything is done 5. Open your LaunchBox.xml and search for the line which starts with:

    6. Change the value in the middle from “true” to “false” 7. Save and close the LaunchBox.xml 8. Open LaunchBox and wait until everything is finished and have fun with your newly imported eXoDOS and/or Win3xO set :)
  13. Jason Carr said as well as hopeful fixes for @CriticalCid's LaunchBox VLC crash on opening Big Box and the issue where switching views wasn't working properly for non-platform games list views.
    Just tested it, both bugs are gone. Thanks Jason :)
  14. You can do this in two different ways. Either you just point LB to your HyperSpin image folders or you just copy all your artwork into the image folders of LaunchBox. If the filenames of the images are matching to the rom names you won’t have any problems.
