  1. Honestly, the easiest way would be just to download a complete set for the newest version. The regularly way would be to download all Romupdates from your current MAME version till the newest one and then use a Rommanager like Clrmamepro to rebuild your Romset to the newest version. At the beginning it’s a little tricky to learn how Clrmamepro works because it’s not really self-explanatory. But with the right tutorials and little help from here it should be no problem to get it the job done.
  2. The only real downside is that only one person at the same time can use the game library. If one of your friends or family members plays a game of yours and you want to play yourself (it doesn’t matter if it’s the same game or a completely different one) they would have to exit the game. And of course games which need a second launcher (like Uplay) won’t work either without sharing your account information’s.
  3. 480p is for these old games more than enough. They look crystal clear in full screen and a higher resolution would just be a waste of space on the hard drive because they wouldn’t add any quality to it. Especially when you watch the snaps most of the time in a little video frame anyway. And btw. I have fullspeed at the EmuMovies FTP (12 MB/s) if I download 10 files at the same time. And I guess you don’t really know for what FTP is really used for and what benefits it has (because you said you used FTP only once), so just take it as it is or use the EmuMovies Download Tool.

  4. You could use the EmuMovies download tool if you don’t want to use FTP. Just point it on your MAME roms folder and if you have a complete rom set you will get every video snap they offer (atm nearly 4700). If you don’t care about quality you can get the 240p versions even for free. But the EmuMovies FTP would still be the fastest way. You could download their whole archive with over 100.000 videos for nearly every system with just one drag and drop.
  5. Do you use Austin’s game versions and follow all his steps in his tutorials? Because the launcher files he provides rotate the screen for horizontal monitors automatically. I only use the versions of Taito Type X games which Austin shares because they all working perfectly fine for me and I don’t have to struggle to get the games to work. And of course the games don't have much options. They were all designed to work in dedicated hardware so there was no need for the developers to make the games much configurable. That's why we have to deal with workarounds like launcher.
  6. Glad I could helpSmile Btw. there are two more games Austin has covered which are not in the playlist, I think he just forgot to update it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DELeUgi2yoY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvFJ4Ck64EY
  7. Taito Type X games are technically pc games, so there’s no emulator for them. You have to add every game with the correct configured bat, editet .exe or launcher. If you mean the platform itself than just type Taito Type X in the platform field and save the game. LaunchBox creates the platform automatically.
  8. @slashguns04: Just make a right click on the background in LaunchBox and choose add. As the application path you choose the .exe or .bat file you use to start the game. Then you can search for metatdata, download artwork, change the platform to Taito Type X, etc. You have to this for every game. @DOS76: Maybe you want to check out SimplyAustin’s tutorials for the TaitoType X games. In the video descriptions he offers working and preconfigured versions of the games and shows how to start the game, change controls/graphics, etc. Here’s the link to his playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLe424g_m2Z-GezoefTRd-aLe581kKsxMc
  9. That’s true, but maybe Jason knows about the current status of the API. Besides that it would be great to have a status update for the other announced scrapers like Giantbomb or Arcade-History. Right now I just play around with LaunchBox and don’t set up my entire game collection because I want to wait for the new scrapers (especially for the region based artwork scraping which could come with the Mobygames scraper), so for me that can’t happen fast enough. Smile
  10. Wow, indeed you're right. I never thought it would be so simple. Even if Daphne Loader doesn't recognize the analog sticks they work just fine in game. But now I noticed that the select and start button get recognized within Daphne Loader but do nothing in game. I know it isn’t a big flaw but it triggers my OCD because all of my other arcade emulators has Coin and Start on those 2 buttons.
  11. Just ignore the diff file. You only need it if you want to patch the official MAMEUIFX sourcecode with no-nag and compile it yourself. The 32 and 64 bit versions from this site are already patched so I would suggest you just download one of these and you’re good to go.
  12. What do you mean with script? I use the MAMEUIFX 64bit version from this website myself and it works perfectly fine for me in my LaunchBox setup. I didn't notice any difference between this version and the official one of MAMEUIFX besides the removed nag screens and the DirectInput support.
  13. I don't know which version of MAME you prefer so I just post some of the more popular builds. The website is in spanish but the MAME versions are completely in english. MAMEUIFX: http://insertmorecoins.es/mameuifx-0-170-1-3264-bits-nonag-dinput/ MAME & MAMEUI: http://insertmorecoins.es/mame-mameui-0-170-32-64-bits-no-nag-hiscores-y-directinput-including-mess/ MAME & MAMEUI without MESS: http://insertmorecoins.es/mamearcade-mameuiarcade-0-170-32-64-bits-no-nag-hiscores-y-directinput/
  14. In this case the regions wouldn’t be a problem because the Amiga XML is specifically designed for the WHDload set only. But I didn’t mean to scrap the metadata of the XML anyway. It should just take the WHDload names from it and use them for scraping Mobygames, TGDB, etc. Or a mix of both just like the scraper for MAME. Like mentioned in this thread before, the specific naming format of the WHDload set makes it really hard to get good or even any metadata right now.
  15. I think Mobygames would be enough as scraper because they just reached their goal to complete their Amiga Database two weeks ago. I think the bigger problem is to get the scraper to work with the WHDload naming format. The easiest way in my opinion would be to use the same mechanic as MAME. I don’t know if there's an official database with a WHDload names to correct game titles conversion like MAME has, but the HyperSpin XML would work really fine in this case. The XML has all games with their WHDload file names included but also features the real game title as description. Here’s the link to the current HyperSpin Amiga XML: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/8070-commodore-amiga-hyperbase-database-official/
  16. There's already ticket for it on BitBucket: https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/71/metacritic-ratings-community-based-ratings If you create an account there you can vote it up. Jason tries to implement the requests with the most votes first.
  17. If there’s music and video available then LaunchBox plays both at the same time which messes up the complete sound. And if I change the platform the sound of the video doesn't stop and plays in the background until the video ended.
