  1. It looks like your issue is mismatched system names. The error is looking for settings using a system name of "CPS3" and the system you have setup in RLUI is named "Capcom Play System 3". You're also not using the LB plugin in RLUI which would autopopulate the system list in RLUI for you based on your existing LB systems.
  2. Metalzoic's Unified Bezel pack is a pack of RocketLauncher bezels, they will not work through MAME. It looks like Circo or whoever uploaded the packs messed up. The instructions about where to place them are for normal MAME bezels (not the RL bezels included in the pack) and the screenshots are not from the bezels in his pack either since the game area is not maximized.
  3. That's why I mentioned the games which are ranked well across multiple lists are good in the eyes of most and that I include some of those lists as playlists. I probably should've been more clear that my comments about lists were geared towards my personal lists. I keep full collections on my machine, use brolly's HS database standards for what I actually import into my frontend, and make playlists for personal lists and other random things.
  4. I was waiting for someone to call me out on that I'm sure there are some that I would enjoy, but at the same time I wouldn't lose any sleep if I got rid of them. Don't worry though, like I said, I still have them on-hand so I may get around to them someday. It's a matter of opportunity cost. We only have a finite amount of gaming time and there are many other games in my huge Steam backlog, current-ish gen systems backlog, and of course retro/emulated backlogs that I would probably enjoy more than text adventures. Yup, I agree completely. That's why unlike a fair bit of people who have trimmed sets I don't really put any stock in those "Top xxxx" game lists that are a dime a dozen. Obviously some of the top games that you see in every list are pretty universal in terms of appeal but if you can't stand a certain genre or main mechanics that negates the ranking. That being said, I think I still have some lists like that as playlists and started working on including others just because. Nostalgia is also a huge factor in determining essential games for people. There are some systems that I probably wouldn't touch at all or only even consider a small handful of games because they simply don't stand the test of time quality wise or appeal wise unless you played them back in the day.
  5. For most cart and computer systems I have all the games on my PC but don't have all of them added to my frontend. Yes, some people like to have every game just to boast but for me it's a "what if?" thing. Like damage mentioned when having friends over to play some of them like games I don't so being able to quickly add them is great since I already have the game. The main thing for me is unless you've sat down and played every single one of the hundreds of thousands of games there's bound to be some games you'll really like that you've overlooked and I'd like the ability to stumble upon them. There are some things I could safely delete and have no worries about missing (text adventures for example) but drives are relatively cheap.
  6. Adding chd as an extension is required like kmoney mentioned and should get Saturn working. PCE-CD has a file type check within the module so you will need to add chd to that. I made the necessary change to the attached module. Note that I don't use RA and this module is the last one posted in the RA thread on RL. If it works for you let me know so I can post it there too. RetroArch.ahk
  7. You can't launch a game via command line for Phoenix, not even a hotkey to start a game once the gui is open. You need to have added the game through the emu UI already, select it, and click play to start it. The current RL module sets the game as selected in the emu's xml file then automates the UI selections to load a game, but only works for 3DO. I modified that RL module to work with the other supported systems but I still need to clean some things up and test functionality with stuff like bezels and I have other things taking priority so no ETA on that. The emulation itself is good, especially for Jaguar, but it definitely seems like the devs wanted to force you to use their GUI based on the lack of basic command line support and other design choices but it's still doable.
  8. Yeah, that probably would've been a good question to ask, but hindsight is 20/20. You could always throw it on a separate poll in the future to see if a majority of the interest is on desktop/laptop vs Pi and other SOCs.
  9. Those numbers are definitely not what I expected. I attribute it to 3 main things that others have also mentioned: People thinking LaunchBox == BigBox People expecting BB to run on a Pi or other weak SOCs People who wouldn't actually put $ towards it when the time comes I just can't imagine there are that many existing LB users that would run LB on a Linux desktop when they currently have it running on Windows. My initial thought when seeing the thread title and nothing else was "I wonder how many people think this means BigBox on a Pi". Maybe I'm just underestimating the amount of Linux users currently using LB but I think the positive feedback makes a lot more sense if it were a bunch of current users who want to run BB on a Pi. I don't think anyone would want to run LB on it since people that use those want a flashy frontend, not a desktop oriented K+M interface. I don't have a Pi and don't know much about them but I've seen plenty of people on other frontend forums mention having to use pretty minimalistic themes, lower quality media, etc and those frontends are typically less resource intensive than BB IMO. I also find it hard to believe the share of dev priority peopls said Linux should get. Maybe that's because a lot of the posts here are about feature requests or complaining about features not being implemented that I read and they're just a vocal minority. The only true gauge of interest will be a kickstarter. Once people have to back their opinion with money that's when you'll get an accurate determination of viability. You'll see a lot of those people on the fence or gung-ho about it disappear when it comes down to it. All that being said, there is probably still a market for LB on Linux, although I have no idea what size. Assuming the Pi isn't a viable option there goes a huge chunk of potential users, people who only want BigBox, and some FOSS fanatics that won't back a closed source app. I'm sure there are still plenty of people who would want LB as a rom management/launcher in a desktop K+M interface though. I personally have zero interest in a Linux version and think Windows should be the sole or at least main focus. I dual boot but see no reason to do any sort of gaming when everything is better on Windows and I couldn't care less about the gimmicky Pi boards and whatnot for the same reason.
  10. It's basically gamerscore if you're familiar with Xbox achievements at all. Each achievement has a value which contributes to the user's overall total.
  11. That thread was one I always found useless, it was pretty much a designated spam post. There used to be (maybe still is?) a requirement where you had to post on the forum before downloading HS so it's pretty much been a thread full of posts like "yes" for years. Over the past year or so it turned into the complaining like bundangdon mentioned (which is obviously pointless) and the "I switched to LB" ranging from logical comparisons to "HS sukz, LB rulez" and all degrees in between. That was another thread I stopped paying attention to so not sure if more crap posts were posted there in the last few months or not but it never served much of a purpose anyway.
  12. I don't mean to make it sound like numerous people from here were going into the thread and trying to bait people or stir stuff up on a daily or even weekly basis because that wasn't the case. It wasn't only LB users either, there were plenty of times that HS members took it too far and I think one of the dumb insult wars was between two HS guys that didn't even use LB afaik. Sometimes it wasn't even really related to LB it was just where someone decided to be an ass. There were enough incidents in that thread though that when I saw there were new posts I assumed it was a 50/50 shot of being a legit post or a post with the potential to devolve into something stupid or disrespectful. It started off being very productive for you guys since the suggestions for many of the current features in BigBox were made there. Just like most discussions involving things people are passionate about no matter how civil and respectful they start out there's always a few people that take it too far or just want to be dicks. I'm sure some of the things were just misinterpreted and some people may have just gone into an overly defensive stance like it was some attack or invasion on their home turf. Someone asked in the thread why it was even allow it there and I said I didn't care as long as the discussion remained civil and people were respectful, just like I tell people it's fine to disagree and debate along the same rules. Once seeing new posts in that thread went from "let me see what's new" to "let me check to make sure this isn't anything bad" I was over it. The last time I remember having to remove a stupid rant was on Christmas morning of all days, but I pretty much stopped checking the thread after that so I'm not sure if more crap was posted after that or not. It's possible there were more incidents or they may have removed it for other reasons, I don't know.
  13. Again, I don't know why the LB thread was deleted. I'm not saying it's because they didn't want LB promoted or mentioned on the site, that theory was already alluded to and I just tossed my $.02 about it. It would also only be a double standard if that was the sole reason it was deleted and all of the flame posts, arguments and conflicts in the LB thread weren't taken into account. If they were then it would make perfect sense because the LB thread had a ton and the other threads haven't had a single one (at least to my knowledge).
  14. The fact the thread was often the center of toxic stuff is just one potential reason it may have been removed, but I can't say one way or the other because I haven't been on the HS forum much recently due to lack of free time and other priorities. Yeah, of course some people may not have heard about LB as soon as they did if it weren't for that thread, especially if it was a while ago before BB really took off and the LB forum got up and running. Now though there's plenty of coverage on YouTube, reddit and other emu related sites that anyone just starting to look for a frontend or anyone looking at options to switch from an existing one isn't going to have any problem at all discovering LB.
  15. Let me preface this by saying I don't know if/why the thread was deleted nor am I speaking in any sort of "official" capacity for HS or the HS staff, this is just my own personal opinion. I also don't use HS or LB as my primary frontend (although I do have a lifetime LB license) so I'm not playing favorites or taking sides and I don't have any bias towards one or the other. I couldn't care less what frontend people use. I browse these forums several times a week along with a few other frontends. That being said, I can't say I'm sad at all to see that thread gone if has been removed. For those who don't know I'm a moderator on HS and that thread was the biggest source of trouble and drama on the site for the most part, although it had been quiet for the past few months. That thread seemed to attract all of the "your frontend sucks, mine's better" people from both camps and several people received warnings and bans due to crappy posts in that thread. It was almost locked several times due to that stuff, and I think at one point it was locked but at Jason's request it was reopened. All that stuff aside, the sole purpose of that thread was to advertise a competing product (convert/steal the user base) so in that regard alone I could understand removing it. You wouldn't see Coke allowing Pepsi advertisements on their site or Chevy allowing Toyota etc. If people want to find out about LB/BB updates they know to come here or your YT or whatever so exposure certainly isn't a problem. Plus when it comes down to it the frontend speaks for itself and that's what will ultimately determine whether people use it or not. Just to reiterate, this is just my opinion on the matter (if there is one) and I'm certainly not trying to invite or contribute to the "rivalry" or troll posts over which frontend is better because there's already enough of that which is beyond dumb.
