  1. Thanks, when I imported my roms and connected to emumovies (lifetime subscription) it only found a pretty small handful. I do have them named properly. For the 2600 packs, are these intended to download and place manually (i.e. they won't normally be found when searching in Launchbox)?
  2. Hey all, by chance, does anyone have a good set of Gameplay videos and image media for Atari 2600 Prototypes and Homebrew games? If you would be willing to share these at all, I would be interested. Thanks!
  3. Hey @pattonthompson - I did not, I kind of left this here hoping an admin or someone on the Launchbox dev team might look into the Launchbox DB play mode issue... I didn't see any response yet, does anyone know who might be best to ask for issues like this?
  4. It looks like you are right, I just spot checked a handful of 'Multiplayer' Play Mode games from various console systems and computers, and the Launchbox DB entries are all showing Max Players with specific values the same as any of the Arcade systems, but appear in Launchbox as Multiplayer. For instance Barbarian for the Amiga in Launchbox under edit mode: Clicking on the Launchbox DB ID on the top right, it shows Max Players = 2: The Arcade games appear to be the only ones that show the Max Players properly. Checking Aero Fighter for instance in Launchbox DB ID Page, it shows Max Players = 2 just like the Amiga game: But in Launchbox it shows as 2-Player Simultaneous: Curious if anyone in Launchbox development might possibly be able to take a look at this issue? In my opinion I think this would make a lot of sense to have the other consoles and systems show the proper Play Mode and number of players, rather than Multiplayer. It would be prettty awesome to have all systems/consoles etc display this way. Also thanks for pointing that out @Junky B
  5. Hey all, I have been compiling some 'best of' lists for 2-4 player simultaneous gameplay games for a number of systems. I started with Amiga and am moving to others, which made me think - maybe I shouldn't reinvent the wheel and might ask around here if anyone has put together a decent list themselves for multiple systems? I guess I mean specifically games that 2 or more players can play simultaneously or at once (possibly cooperatively too), rather than 2-4 player alternating taking turns (that could be another list). It's kind of easy for systems like Arcade, most games have the 2-3-4 player simultaneous tags filled in, which is awesome to use to filter when I have several people over. I've found some great games I never knew about this way that were fun to play. But for systems like Amiga, if you open Launchbox box click on Amiga, then arrange by 'Play Mode', it shows None, Cooperative, Multiplayer, Single Player. It's kinda sorta helpful but doesn't narrow it down quite enough, and have to play through them or run through a manual or look up info online to see ahead of time etc. This was a pretty good start for Amiga games that support 4 joysticks at this link: https://ftp.fau.de/aminet/docs/misc/FourPlayerGames_EN.pdf - but after an hour or so of manually scraping information online on which games were specifically 2 player or 3 or 4 etc, it just felt like this would be a massive undertaking for multiple systems. I also kind of sort of have a life too, regardless of how much I'd love to have my games arranged like it makes sense to have them in my mind. I think most other consoles and such categorize games into single player/ coop / multiplayer if I'm not mistaken (I just spot checked a number and it seems to be the case). Well anyways just thought I'd start a thread for any discussion on this, if anyone cares to add. Once I get my Amiga games sorted out into some tried and true lists I will do my best to contribute some playlists here. That is, unless someone already did this and I haven't come across it yet.
  6. Thanks @harryoke - I'm already seeing a few things on that page that help, I appreciate it.
  7. Thank you @harryoke and @neil9000 , I appreciate the help! I'm getting the hang of this system and using Retroarch currently, the information you guys shared helps a bunch. I think I may have just been running into issues with individual roms not working properly. For instance, the game Atic Atak - I have a couple romsets and collections I found, and added the game to Launchbox and tried it using Retroarch core. The first version I used wouldn't get past an opening gray screen with some text just stating Copyright xxxx Sinclair or something similar, no buttons would advance it. I then found another rom which I imported, this one got into the main game but with no sound, and everything was running at like 1000% speed and unplayable. I then found a few other collections that had the game, and I think I honestly spent maybe 45 minutes or so getting this one game imported and working (time spent searching / downloading and testing etc). I've been having similar issues with other games that are reference as some of the best for Sinclair. For instance the game R-Type has a ton of versions out there and I've only found 1 out of maybe 16 or more that will play properly, plus it takes 1 minute 25 seconds to get to the gameplay screen! Luckily I'm pretty used to this kind of waiting being a C64 nut. Aside from some aggravation getting solid playing versions of games, I'm actually really loving the Sinclair ZX right now. I grew up with a C64 and remember hearing about the Sinclair / ZX Spectrum but never knew anyone that had one. There are a lot of similar titles, but graphically the systems are pretty different and am loving the weird color schemes in the Spectrum. Just wish that the process of getting the games in and getting them to run properly wasn't as painful as some of the other retro systems, this one has been much more time consuming for some reason. I've been putting off getting this system in Launchbox, and also the X68000, Apple II, and Acorn systems primarily because they're all a bit on the harder side to get up and running and playing games quickly. At least, that's been my experience so far!
  8. Hi All, I have so far only been able to get the game Jetpak to play on ZX Spectrum using Fuse core in Retroarch. Are there any tips from anyone out there to get the majority of the ZX Spectrum games to play easily using a joystick? I've tried a number of alternative emulators but not getting anything to work well. If someone might have a list of games they've been able to run well, or an emulator that they've had good success with more ZX roms (and which rom extension or extension(s) in particular) I'd be happy to learn more. Thanks
  9. The Genesis one would be great too! I'm tempted to get more, but I can understand the hesitance, the price is not exactly affordable.
  10. Awesome, I came across those two days ago too, they look great! I just bought a Cirka brand N64 controller for $15, the place I bought them from had a whole rack of TTX brand N64 controllers NIB for $8.99 apiece, they apparently knocked them down in price due to some reliability issues. I just bought one controller to test out and use for 2-player stuff while I'm waiting for the Everdrive 64 to show up. The only cart I own at the moment is Wave Racer, which is pretty limited in the fun category. I used to own a boatload a while ago but sold them off years back thinking I'd never play them again, but soon to have them all more or less in one cart which will be nice.
  11. Hey all, I just ordered one of these carts and am waiting to receive it. Anyone have any experience using this or anything to share with pros or cons? From what I've read online it's a pretty great setup and am looking forward to it. I've been frustrated with getting several N64 games to emulate well and also not getting 4 player controls to work well at all, so it seems this would resolve more or less all my N64 issues at a sorta premium price though. But definitely cheaper than buying a handful of carts. Now to track down a few more controllers that work well, at the moment I just have my one original gray N64 controller that suffers from the loose center stick issue. There's a game place in my town that has some knockoffs new in package for $8.99, I can't recall the brand though.
  12. Just wanted to share a scenario I ran into and what fixed it, in case it helps anyone else. I bought a new Samsung TV over the weekend and hooked up my PC running Launchbox via HDMI, and everything was working fine. I launched into my Windows games folder and played some, everything was working great. Then I launched a few games from other emulators that use Retroarch and everything was performing super slow and choppy, audio was stuttering at 1/2 speed. Since I had been playing other games without any issues, I initially thought there was something wrong with Retroarch so I installed a clean version, but this didn't fix anything. I then thought maybe I have some system issues and began uninstalling any recent software to check it again but no change. I also noticed this was happening with a few other emulators, but strangely not with Mame or Windows games and a few other emulators. Anyways to make a long story short, I wasted a few hours pulling out my hair and going backwards in config on several portions of the system only to find that the refresh rate on my PC had changed when connecting to the new TV...... I'm on Windows 10, I just right clicked on the desktop and went to Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties > Monitor tab, and noticed the refresh rate was set to 29 Hertz (?). Setting this to 60 Hertz resolved the problem. It must have been that my previous TV had this refresh rate? I'm really not sure honestly. Glad it's resolved, but feeling silly I didn't think of it *before* going down a rabbit hole that led me to screw up all my Retroarch settings.
  13. I just started using the Custom Filters option in Big Box with my Arcade/Mame collection and am really liking it. I was trying to think of a way to find 3-4 player games a little easier and the filter of Play Mode contains 4 appears to pull anything up that has the that assigned to it. Just helps when there are a few friends over and we're looking for something new to play for multiple people. I think I saw in either a video, or a thread somewhere that it was being discussed to add a 'Save Filter' function so we can add a few custom filters to pull up. Just curious if there is any plan for this? Also wondering if there are any limits to the amount of filters that can be combined in a single go? I was thinking of how you might be able to use a custom filter to add a list of games in Arcade/Mame that fit some random criteria (stuff I like or that my group of friends liked) and then add each game individually with a filter... this of course would be saved and then accessed via the Custom Filter search in Big Box to pull up that list. Just would be helpful for some of the systems that have so many games to go through. I'm already using favorites to have starred items show up first, but saved filters seem like they'd be pretty useful for me.

  14. From what I understand there are a number that have been converted to cart format by various people over the years that were only available on disk or tape, and some custom multi-carts with several games to choose from. I found a pretty big collection of these just a few days ago, which is where I posted the list above from (those were just the ones I was having trouble with, there are many others). I am not sure I can post any links, but after some bread crumbs looking for Commodore 64 CRT and some other terms I ended up stumbling across them.
  15. Hmm... that's a great idea, I never thought of using save states. I'll try that out for the handful that drive me crazy and load from those instead. Thanks for the suggestion!
  16. I found the carts listed above in the C64-Love_1.1 collection somewhere out there. I was able to get the files you mentioned to work after removing the commas, but it didn't seem to help renaming a number of the others. I think that CCS64 doesn't like Easyflash stuff, I recall reading that on their forums (or somewhere). One thing that's always bugged me on the c64 are the crack screens and prompts. It's taken me a long time to track down versions that load without all the unnecessary prompts, and some I still haven't found any better options. Having to first press enter or the spacebar to skip the crack team intro, then hitting escape to exit following pages or Y/N on the trainer screens etc. Anyways, enough griping from me, this isn't even my thread and I'm not helping out here it seems (other than confirming I'm having trouble with carts in CCS64) I did track down a version of Lode Runner that loads straight up and also skips those ridiculous fade in and out circle animations every time you die and come back to life. Those animations took something like 30 seconds to play every time you died! Someone obviously thought the same out there...
  17. I was just wrestling with this issue myself in CCS64, since I wanted to run all of the cart files I've found for the 64. These load much faster than their .d64 counterparts, and run just fine in VICE, but are not running in CCS64. I made a list of all of the files that wouldn't run for me. I tested removing bracket characters and such, but still wasn't able to run these. I sent this list to the developer of CCS64 as well, but no reply just yet. Anyways here's the ones I found that will not load in CCS64 (at least not for me): There are a bunch of others that will run, but from what I've found, any Easyflash games will not run in CCS64, and a few others that didn't appear to be Easyflash. I've been setting up Vice to run as a secondary emulator for C64 to run the carts that won't in CCS64, but have been wrestling with getting it to be fullscreen nicely, and also not finding a good script to use my Xbox One controller to interact with Vice and exit and such.
  18. Thank you , I appreciate it. I compiled the joystick detection script, after running it it is showing: This is with my Xbox One (wired) controller plugged in to my PC. Moving the joystick doesn't appear to change anything with this. Does this seem to indicate any issue? Also is the NoMousey.exe required for this script? I ran a game testing this out for 1Joy# (whatever the number was in your script) and wasn't able to get anything to control. Also I couldn't control my mouse when I tried to exit, is there a trick to exiting nomousey when it's running? *Edit* I originally wrote Xbox 360, I meant Xbox One Wireless (but connected wired) controller
  19. Quick question @Zombeaver - how should I use this script in Launchbox or how do you have it configured? I just compiled it, just wanted to check how you have it configured to run. Also, any tips on how I determine my Xbox One controller ID? I'm only using one at the moment.
  20. I can't recall, does that work for all game types? I remember still seeing long load times with that enabled, it might have been that I was using a tape game or .TAP possibly. Does the setting only work with certain types like .d64 or .t64 etc?
  21. Same here, that looks pretty cool too. Hopefully they can polish the mini into something with a better collection of games. I bought one of the C64x (Extreme) cases last year and built a PC into it, it's been fun using that as a side PC for other projects. It's of course not a C64 in any way but love that I'm looking at what for all intents and purposes is a C64 in front of me Yeah I'm looking forward to the evolution of emulation getting to the point of completely skipping the loading stages on the 64 somehow. That and the Amiga. I love playing the game Dark Castle on the Amiga for instance but it's a pretty hard game and having to wait a terribly long time for things to load every time you die is not something I want to kick back and relax doing. The C64 is chock full of game examples like this, and having to swap disks etc makes it less appealing. But I did this stuff for years when it was a new computer and just accepted that's what you had to do, even though I hated it then. It's just harder waiting that long now with how instantaneous everything is. Those scripts should help a lot so thanks again.
  22. As someone who grew up playing the 2600 as a kid from its heyday, its hard for me to believe there would be little interest in it. There's a handful of games that are still really fun despite the machines limitations. But I have had a hard time convincing my 20 and early 30 something friends that the 2600 is cool or worth playing, I guess the experience is not quite the same for those who weren't there when it happened. Also this is cool regarding the two button solution, thanks for this!
  23. Heck yes, this is great! Thank you zombeaver for adding these scripts. I will be working on this over the next week once I have some free time, once these are setup I imagine I'll probably want to play C64 games more often again I've been keeping my eye out for the C64 mini release, seems pretty cool to have a machine that launches into the game directly. https://thec64.com/ It's not a complete list of games by any stretch, but seems like a pretty cool machine! Will be cool if they continue developing for the machine and new games can be added. But really, it's not so hard using an emulator and Launchbox, I just wish the C64 were more instantaneous like a purely cartridge based system.
  24. Hi all, I've been trying to find a way to automatically swap the joystick ports when loading a C64 rom. Many games use Port 1 as the default for Joystick 1, however a number of games have Port 2 assigned as the default controller. In CCS64 I believe Alt+F10 will swap ports when you launch the application, but does anyone know of a way to send this to CC64 on load or a way to configure per game? Just would rather not have to mess with hitting Alt+F10 whenever I load a ROM that has the joystick swapped to the other port. I am guessing I could map that combination someone to my Xbox One controller someone with a third party app each time I launch, but not sure I'm that committed to this idea. Just curious if anyone has come across any easier way to do this.
  25. I deleted all the Daphne games from Launchbox and added them in using the tutorial instructions from scratch once again, and still experiencing the same issue. I completely deleted my previous Daphne folder (local files downloaded and installed through the Daphne Loader) and am still having the issue. This is with the standard games from Daphne, and none of the others that aren't included like Dragon's Lair etc added. I can't think of anywhere else that information might be getting cached in Launchbox, or anywhere else I should look to clear out information or delete settings or something. I can play the games through the Daphne front end just fine, but when I import the games into Launchbox for some reason only Badlands and Roadblasters imports, and are not playable through Launchbox (error above). Hoping someone in Launchbox development here might have some suggestions? Again this worked just fine the first time I imported everything using the steps in the video tutorial, this all went wrong when I attempted importing the remaining games that are not included in the standard daphne installer.
