Every console is retroarch. Only arcade games are on mame. I’m going to get more light gun games eventually like house if the dead other time crisis on Saturn and psx but I wanna get what I have working first. All games launch and play correctly it’s just the bezels aren’t showing. All Roms are in 1 folder broken out into system’s

There is only two things that can cause bezels to not show, rom names not matching the cfg files in the bezel core directories (...\retroarch\config\<core name>), or the core related directory itself in the config directory doesn't exist.

So I got launch box installed and I have been using the Bezel Project to get bezels for all the systems, so far I have NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, NDS, and Sega CD and MAME, all work but Sega CD, GBA, NDS and MAME. I've done all the same thing to get the others working, and just by looking at the config I have no idea what to do to get them to work. Is it crucial, no, but I do like seeing the bezels.

The issue with MAME is there is so many different packs to get, and I don't know what games are which pack, i tried to get them all but one pack failed and it totally aborted the process. I will try again but if it happens then I don't know what more to do, I know this isn't the place for it, but I figured there might be people who are familiar or had a similar issue. I don't really wanna start a new topic for this since it's not launchbox related, but seeing one of the MAME packs aren't working I thought that might be ok here.

Lastly I have an Ultimarc IPAC ultimate board. I have it setup to be default MAME setup, so Player 1 is up down left right ctrl alt shift space z and x, but I noticed retroarch uses a different config. Would it make more sense to swap RetroArch to mame's config, or mame to retroarch? I'd like them to be the same on everything I use just to make it easier to remember.

    Thanks!

Are you trying to run those systems under MAME, and/or Retroarch?

Can I edit the naming in bezel project to odyssey2? Also can you edit cores that  bezel project doesn't support like duckstation?

Yes, sub-directories can be renamed to whatever you want, but be aware the names of the underlying cfg files MUST match the rom names being called, whether in MAME or Retroarch and the sub-directory names themselves must match whatever calling app expects.

Thanks. I have that command line already. I'm weening off RocketLauncher and only use it where I can't get the bezels to work in LB or MAME. MAME bezels work fine but when I use MAME as the emulator for systems like odyssey2 (software list) it doesn't switch automatically to the correct game bezel.

Are you referencing odyssey2 bezels under MAME from The Bezel Project? If so, Videopac is the system name configured for our MAME export, not odyssey2.

So I load Mame up, then load various versions of Darius, world, japan, etc.  None of them display the bezel.  The only way I found to get the bezel to display is by loading the game, hitting tab, load video options, select screen 0, and select bezel artwork instead of three by three.  This changes the game to only be one screen at 4:3 however, with the bezel covering the game.  This is a default install of the newest Mame.  Is there a setting I'm missing or is this only going to work in Retroarch Mame?

Which Darius game names are you running? The only two multi-monitor bezels included in the MAME pack is darius and darius2. Do you see these in your artwork directory? (See below)

How do you get the Darius/Darius 2 bezels to load in Mame?  I've tried searching a few forums and Google, but can't find an answer.  Other bezels work fine in Mame, but the triple monitor ones will not load.

They load fine here. Just like any other bezel file, naming is key. Have you used the Tab key in Mame when one of those games is running, then looked at the video options to see which file MAME is using? You can then go through all the options MAME allows for overlays/backdrops/etc. If you find one option that causes what you want to see, see if you can save a MAME over ride for that one game.

I don´t want the edges of the gameplay area curved, but that seems to be the case in every screenshot or video I saw. Is there any option in MAME, to override this and put the gameplay area one layer "above" the artwork, so that only the "black bars"-area is filled with an artwork as background?

One option is to batch process the files to remove the TV surround.

HI, I am trying to download the arcade Bezels in retroarch using the bezel project. All seems fine except the zip file it downloads says unexpected end of file and only has the png files up to the letter D. I tried the manual download and I get the message "file is missing from repository". |Any suggestions please

Not sure what your issue may be. I get no errors when I access and/or download using the Windows app. Could possibly be a temporary issue on Github's end. I would wait a few hours, then retry.

  9. Since Nestopia already has a directory for the NES cfg files under retroarch\config\Nestopia, the NES issue must be a naming issue. Even if you have a no-intro rom set, naming standards do change over time. Look in the Nestopia sub-directory and compare the names of those cfg files  with your rom names. They names must match 100% except for the suffix (cfg, zip, 7z).

For SNES, it appears you will just have to manually set the bezels for those games that don't already have cfg file. Actraiser, for example, only has cfg files for ActRaiser (Japan) (Translated En) and ActRaiser (USA).

  10. OK, so progress. Next step is to figure out why some bezels work and some don't.

When no bezels for a core work, generally the problem is the subdirectory name in the retroarch\config directory does not match what the core is expecting. What is the exact core name for NES you are using?

For SNES, since some bezels work and some don't, the problem must be a name mismatch between the cfg files for the core under retroarch\config. You mention Actraiser as not working. What is the exact name of the rom?

  11. Thanks for the cfg file. I reviewed it and see no issues with it.

    A few questions.

    1. Is your retroarch installed by the installer version of Retroarch, or a downloaded zip file?
    2. How much free space do you have on your c:\ drive?
    3. Have you tried to install more than one themed bezel set? Which have you tried?
    4. When you run the Bezel app, does the download operation seem to work, or does the app immediately return to the menu after selecting OK to start the install operations?

  12. I assume you have already started Retroarch to see if it runs? If not, do so, and try the bezel app again.

If you have run it, attach your retroarch.cfg file here and I'll look at it to see if I can discover anything.

I just sent an email about this as well but in case someone else is having the issue.. Where do we get the Betas from?  I go the initial (at least for me)  LaunchBox-Android-0.34-beta-4.apk but after that.. I've seen several iterations come up in conversation but no emails or links... Did I miss a post somewhere on a seperate frum link or something?  How do we get the links to upgrade the currently installed Betas?

You should be able to update from within the app itself. Make sure betas are enabled in options, then restart the app. It should see and ask for permission to download and install the beta.

  14. OK, my mobile network must have had an issue earlier. The app was probably silently failing like you mentioned. I just tried it again and it updated.

I still have random slow startups. Nothing in the log file. When it starts quick, it is almost instant. When it is slow, it takes between 10-15 seconds. I have a large amount of space on the internal memory. I'm stumped.

Running Android 10 on an LG G8.

  15. The last beta I got an email for was beta 2. When was the update code inserted into the betas? Beta 2 isn't seeing any upgrade out there. I made sure I turned on check for beta releases under options, then I restarted the app. Nothing seen.

Also, it takes a really long time for the app to start now, and this is with no media or roms imported. I have a totally clean system.

Just wondering if anything I am seeing abnormal?

To be honest, that's been unclear (seen different results on different devices). Can you test on your device and see if it works to install it without uninstalling the previous version? If the install errors, then you'll probably need to uninstall the previous version first. Make sure you do a backup because Android of course will delete the entire app folder, if your data is underneath the Android folder.

OK, tried to install over the top, but that didn't work. No real error message, just didn't seem to do it, although the install process seemed to finish as expected. After I uninstalled, the beta installed fine.

BTW, running Android 10 here on an LG G8.

  17. The rom names MUST match the cfg file names installed under the config directory in Retroarch. If only a few games don't work it is probably easier to do what you described, but if most, or all your roms don't match you are better off using a renaming utility. You can rename the cfg files, or your roms. Whichever works best for you.

Many people use FatMatch, but there are a number of rom renaming tools out there.

Finally, the Bezel Project tries to use No-Intro naming standards, so make sure you are using a rom set that is no-intro compliant.
