Naming convention is correct. Let's get past this part and figure out what else the issue might be. The bezel project packs work in Rocketlauncher. I'm at work now but if you doubt what I'm saying l will attach a screen shot of my CHD for GameCube and the names in the Bezel Project. The core name is also correct. There has to be something else causing the problem.

    Thanks

I may have cracked it. It appears the dolphin dev team changed the internal name to dolphin-emu. Rename the dolphin directory in the config directory to dolphin-emu and see if that fixes your issues.

The bezels for Retroarch cut off quite a chunk of the visible play-area. It there an option in Retroarch to just push the bezels one layer behind the video to ensure no video gets overruled by the bezels? I know I can resize the scaling but that would drag the bezels out of the edges hiding some of the artwork.

An other option would be to cut off the TV-rounding-portion of each artwork - is there an easy way to to this via batch-file to get those in a clean 4:3 format?

Yes, you can batch process the png files to remove the TV surround. We have a document in our Facebook Group that details the process.

It appears the Themed bezels for 32X were created some time ago before we had the settings we use now. You can manually change the viewport size and save a game override. I will add a request to rework the 32X bezels to a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The 'Themed' bezel pack for Sega 32X has been reworked to match 4:3 aspect ratio.

What is the core name for Dolphin? I'm just not sure what's wrong. Yes the roms/CHD/iso are named correctly because they work when I use rocketlauncher. I tried to delete anything related with Nintendo GameCube and Dolphin and nothing seems to work unless I use Rocketlauncher as my emulator in Launchbox. Scratching head.

    Default core name is dolphin_libretro.

Just because things work in RocketLauncher doesn't mean your naming convention works with the bezel packs.

  5. If you are positive the rom names match the cfg file names under the \\retroarch\config\<core name>\ directory, the only thing I can think of is the directory for the core you are using just isn't supported by our bezel repo. If this is the case, it is easy to change though. Just rename one of the Dolphin directories that were installed to match the core you are using.

I wonder how it can be done in either Launchbox or Mame itself?

LaunchBox currently has no way to disable a bezel. For MAME, just remove the bezel from the artwork folder. Different versions of MAME have an ability to swap bezels, change bezel attributes, etc., and save certain settings, but it is just easier to clean-up the mentioned artwork directory directly.

I just downloaded the new update 12.12. And I downloaded the the new border themes for my Genesis games for RetroArch. And now when I open a game I get no sound and it lags very badly. This now happens to every game I play through RetroArch, Nintendo ect. Could someone please give me some pointers on this. It was working perfectly fine until did that border theme download.

What video driver are you using in Retroarch, e.g. gl, glcore, DX11, Vulkan? What video card do you have on that machine?

  8. Missing bezels happen for two reasons, either the installed directories under \\retroarch\config don't match the core name you are using, or your rom names don't match the cfg file names under the config directory location. If the latter, you can either rename your roms, or rename the cfg files. We also try to use the No-Intro naming standard, so downloading and using a No-Intro set of roms can also fix this.

Thank you for the quick response! Would 20gb be sufficient? That's the only last step I can think of. I've uninstalled them using the windows app and reinstalled them, each time receiving the same error.

You didn't say which area has the 20GB free, %temp%, or the retroarch install directory, or are those both on the same drive?

20GB should be enough, but just barely.

Most of my installation went smoothly. I'm having trouble with DS and 3DS. Both packs seems to stop around halfway, leaving me with missing bezels for half the games of each. I've tried downloading these packs multiple times over multiple days. I've tried downloading the .zip that was linked, but that file is truncated as well. Are there full sets for the DS and 3DS that I can download? If necessary, I'll write the configurations myself, but I hate having those two sets being incomplete. Also, if anybody knows a place to get PS2 bezels, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I am a member of the Project team and I am at a loss for your difficulty. The archives for DS and 3DS are some of the largest we have, so make sure you have plenty of space disk space in your %temp% area and the final installation destination.

I can install using the Windows app we have, and can manually download the zip files for both those systems without issue. The zips test out as ok, and I have verified the output as correct.

Note: we have not started work on 'Themed' bezels for PS2 yet, but the 'System Art' set for PS2 is ready for use.

  11. Two things to check. First, the core name expected in retroarch\config must match what the Project installed. Example, for SNES, the following should have been installed for you:
    Beetle Supafaust
    bsnes
    bsnes-hd beta
    bsnes-mercury
    bsnes2014
    Mesen-S
    Snes9x
    Snes9x 2002
    Snes9x 2005
    Snes9x 2005 Plus
    Snes9x 2010

    What core are you using?

Second, the rom names you have must match the names of the cfg files in retroarch\config\Snex9x, for example. If this is the issue, you can rename the cfg files to match your rom set. Note, you only need to rename the cfg files under config, not the ones that live under overlay\GameBezels.

  12. I have been receiving a number of personal messages to make my Nostalgia addition video sets available again. Apologies for the long delay. I have had Covid related illness for a number of months.

As a short explanation, I added a couple of new videos per a user request some months ago, and as they were uploading, something happened to the backend process and the files were nuked. I was ill at the time and didn't have the wherewithal to organize everything and re-upload here. I recently performed a quick, mass upload to the EmuMovies ftp so people can access my files again. You can find them via this ftp path: /Upload Here/_Other/dragon57/Nostalgia

    Eventually I will re-upload here.

    Thanks for the requests.

My Steam Deck will arrived this week and the FIRST thought I had, was to use it for my arcade cabinet. I could easily 3D print something so I can add a dock on top of the arcade - just drop in the Steam Deck and voila, the screen, iPac, etc. are connected. It seems like a good marriage to me.

However ... Valve has said many times it won't give Windows support, probably because they want to push developers to add support for Linux or to make it work properly using Proteus. Frankly I think they WILL add Windows support because they'll find the demand for dual booting will become quite big and they may find that Proteus won't offer enough compatibility compared to Windows. ETA seemed to get Windows to work rather well compared to LTT who basically said it was an incredibly rough experience.

So yeah, it's a bit of a gamble - do you develop for Linux and then find out the Steam Deck will get proper Windows support after all? Or do you just develop regardless of the Steam Deck, knowing you'll at least have a Linux alternative? Maybe a poll asking if people would pay for an extra Linux version would shed some light but even then ...

There is a native linux build of Emulation Station you could use in the mean time. ETA Prime has a video on it. Hopefully a native LB will arrive one day.

I didn't name any of the roms, and surely i can't see 3 of the 7 systems i have testing the random games i did would match. can you give me a location of where the bezels would be, so that i can compare and try testing one if i rename it, but wouldn't the config have to be edited as well? and  i didn't look over the github but would they have a recommendation on which "romset" to use with proper naming?

No, I know that is what the thread is for, and i even mentioned that in my post but since it was sort of related and albeit the wrong place I figured I would ask just incase someone else did have an issue that had it resolved.

sLpFhaWK, let's take this to another thread, or Personal message so we don't clutter this one.
