  1. Baker Classics

    View File

Videos from James Baker beginnings of the "Cinematic" project. A lot of these videos have been lost with time, so please ENJOY!

Thanks to Mr.Baker and Jason for giving me permission to upload these :)

Also Thanks to CriticalCid for hooking me up with a bunch more of Bakers old stuff.

Alright guys, new beta is out with the developments from the live stream this morning. We added proper multi-screen support to Big Box, as well as marquee screen support for arcade cabinets. I didn't plan on adding any more new features before 6.12, but this was relatively quick and easy and I needed something entertaining for the live stream. ;)

I'll be back to fixing bugs tomorrow. I need to put in some more work on the LaunchBox website; I'm streamlining the purchasing process a bit so that if somebody doesn't get the license email they can still download the license. We've had some issues lately with emails being blocked due to the XML attachment (or people putting in the wrong email address, etc.), so this should help people not to be pissed off if they purchase after hours and end up having to wait till the morning for support.

Awesome work as always Jason!  Thank you.

And I think that's a great idea. I'm sure it will cut down a lot on the support emails in the future.

  3. Just thought I'd give an update.

Did some Testing and more research. Crash Plan definitely seemed the way to go especially since they keep deleted files forever making it worth the extra $10. After doing some testing with it on my cabinet, it was taking up 1 GB of ram while running in the background. Contacted support and they forwarded me to an FAQ where they recommend having at least 1GB of ram for every 1TB of data being backed up.

    https://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/4/Troubleshooting/Adjusting_CrashPlan_Settings_For_Memory_Usage_With_Large_Backups

Thought that was pretty dumb, so it started trying out BackBlaze. It barely takes up any ram on my system and seems to run really well. Upload speeds seem to be the same as crashplan hitting the 10Mb mark which is my max (Live in NYC and upload speeds with Time Warner Cable blow!). Only thing is Backblaze keeps deleted files for up to 30 days only and retrieving files isn't as easy as crash plan since you have to go to their website and do it. Aside from that, it seems great!

Probably going to go with BackBlaze once my trial is over. seems to be the way to go for my setup. Have about 3-4TB of data to backup which is going to take forever lol (Shows maybe 4 months)

  4. Thanks Jason. That's good to hear! Didn't even realize crash plan will encrypt your files until you mentioned it just now. Back Blaze does this as well apparently. Now I feel much more confident that it wouldn't be a problem doing this.

I'm hesitant to pull the trigger though on Crash plan because Back Blaze is $50 compared to Crash plans $60.

  5. Was thinking of making a cloud backup of my arcade cabinet with something like Crash Plan or Back Blaze. Does anyone have any experience with this/currently doing this? Asking because I'm not sure what would happen since I have lots of roms.

Went ahead with the official 6.10 release guys because I needed to get it out before I leave for Retropalooza tomorrow. Thanks for that error report @Sithel; I expect that's mostly a fluke (it's the type of error that really should never happen and likely has more to do with a .NET glitch than anything else, but who knows). Let me know if you keep seeing that.

@ckp It's possible we have a remove image glitch, but it's not widespread. I've tested and can't seem to reproduce the problem. If you keep seeing it, let me know the file names of the images specifically so I can troubleshoot.

512 MB should be plenty big for the RAM cache setting. It is normal for images to pop in a split second after scrolling to them with the new version, at least the first time the images are loaded after restarting LaunchBox. It's a trade off for basically improving the responsiveness of everything in general. We can come back to this at some point, though. Things can always be improved.

Thanks guys; let me know if anyone sees any issues with the official release. :)

Thanks for the update Jason. Looking forward to trying it out when I get home :)

Have a great time a Retropalooza Jason! Please take some pics and share when you get back.

  7. Sounds like you didn't setup Rocket Launcher correctly.

Within rocket launcher, on the left side is the global setting. Click that and then the emulator tab. Now here you want to setup you emulator that genesis uses. So find it in the list there and set it up.

then on the left tab, now choose Sega genesis and select the emulator tab. Here choose the emulator for genesis and setup the location of your Roms. Within the roms tab you can audit and test your roms.

If you want to learn more about Rocket Launcher, I very much recommend watching Simply Austin's Rocket Launcher videos on YouTube.
