MAME (native or via RetroArch) works great on my ST-V games.

Thanks for the info. I've had the problem over the last 48 hours. It roughly coincided with the update to beta 11 and I was worried that it was a bug. Just curious - are the platform videos downloaded from Launchbox servers or from EmuMovies?

I am no longer able to download platform videos through LB (v7.8 b11). When I try and download the platform videos in batch through the LB interface, it takes forever and then generates a list of errors. Is this a known issue?

BigBox can't find roms on mapped network drive (but LaunchBox can)
smpetty replied to smpetty's topic in Troubleshooting
@Jason Carr - IIRC there was a beta build that had problems launching either LB or BB. A thread on the forums suggested running as an administrator which did fix the immediate problem. I guess I never changed back.... -

WooooooHoooooo! @ckp - you 'da man! Thanks so much, that was the problem. Turned off "Run As Administrator" and BigBox works perfectly with the network drives. Much appreciated! Spent lots of time on this one! Scott -

@ckp - I do launch BigBox (and LaunchBox) as an administrator. Could that be a problem? -
BigBox can't find roms on mapped network drive (but LaunchBox can)
smpetty replied to smpetty's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks @ckp - The mapped network drives remain active and the drive letters match the platform data xmls. It's an odd problem. LB works perfectly. BB says that the network drive roms don't exist. If I launch LB from BB (Switch to Desktop Mode), the launched LB says that the network drive roms don't exist. If I close BB/LB and reopen LB, everything works fine again. I'm stumped and frustrated... -
BigBox can't find roms on mapped network drive (but LaunchBox can)
smpetty replied to smpetty's topic in Troubleshooting
@Jason Carr - Thanks again. Unfortunately no change in the problem with 7.8b3. The files are unzipped roms (DS, PS2, Wii. WiiWare, PSP roms). Anything else that I can do to troubleshoot the problem? -
BigBox can't find roms on mapped network drive (but LaunchBox can)
smpetty replied to smpetty's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks so much for the help. Here's what I found when running your batch file as the emulator for my network drive roms: When I run LaunchBox.exe, everything works well and the ROM path is correct. When I run BigBox.exe, I immediately get an error: "The ROM file you've specified does not exist." No console window opens with the batch file. When I run BigBox.exe AND THEN SWITCH TO DESKTOP MODE, I immediately get an error: "The ROM file you've specified does not exist." No console window opens with the batch file. This is very strange and I'm stuck as far as what else to do. @Jason Carr - any other thoughts or suggestions? -

Thanks for the reply, Jason. This is the error that I get: "The ROM file you've specified does not exist." If there are any log files or other information that I can send, please let me know. Scott -
BigBox can't find roms on mapped network drive (but LaunchBox can)

Still struggling with this - any ideas would be most appreciated... -
I use my main PC to share the biggest (storage-wise) rom sets with my family room LaunchBox installation. LaunchBox.exe on the family room computer sees both the local roms and the roms on the mapped network drives without a problem. Everything works perfectly. BigBox.exe on the family room computer sees the local roms but cannot locate the roms on the mapped network drives. It says that they are missing. Any ideas? I'm running Windows 10 x64 on both computers, running LaunchBox and BigBox as administrator, v7.8-beta 1.

Hi Jason - The problem was related to the Mayflash Wii Bar, specifically with the bar set in mode 4. It was grabbing all of the controller assignments and causing Retroarch and other emulators to crash or otherwise misbehave. I'm sorry for the false alarm. I put LB v7.0 through the paces after switching the Mayflash Wii Bar from mode 4 to mode 1 and it worked perfectly. Thanks, Scott

After upgrading to the official release from 7.0 beta 27 (or 28?), I'm having big issues. I was having no issues before this release. I can play several games on several systems, but, after a while, everything just seems to stop. I try to run a game, the "Game Loading" screen appears, nothing happens, the "Game Loading" screen disappears after 10 or so seconds, and I'm back to the selection screen. This has happened with multiple systems on RetroArch as well as Demul, MAME, and Daphne. Eventually, the platform videos won't display and LaunchBox freezes. I can't escape it with CTRL-ALT-DELETE and have to manually reboot. Usually, after a reboot, all is well again. But just now, after a reboot, BigBox froze immediately at my Arcade platform screen - no platform video and no response. All of this is running BigBox on a dedicated Windows 10 64-bit installation that has been rock solid with LauncBox on all of the v7 betas. I did earlier today add the Mayflash USB bar and setup Dolphin to use Real WiiMotes. That's the only change other than the LaunchBox version updates over the last 48 hours. Any ideas? Also a BIG kudos to the LB team. I love this FE. Was a longtime GameEX --> HyperSpin/Retroarch user and love the simplicity, elegance, and stability of LaunchBox. I also appreciate the friendly and helpful atmosphere on the forums and the amazing responsiveness and work ethic of the team members. I'll be buying a lifetime license when my annual license expires. Scott

SentaiBrad - Thanks - very helpful info. Where can I find the Database so that I can check some of my filenames against it? DOS76 - Thanks - I did this very thing but still have discrepancies in what is displayed. Weird.

I'm a long time GameEX and Hypespin user who switched to Launchbox several weeks ago for the sake of simplicity. My setups had gotten so intricate and complicated between RocketLauncher, Hyperspin, and the myriad support files that, when problems arose, I found it more and more difficult to fix. The switch to Launchbox has been virtually painless. To keep things simple, I have a Launchbox only setup - no RocketLauncher support - and I have all of my systems up and running beautifully. I also prefer the less busy BigBox interface to Hyperspin and with the newer themes, Launchbox IMO is the best-looking front-end around. I also really appreciate the friendly and helpful attitude consistently demonstrated by Jason and all of the higher ups on this board. But I'm frustrated by one area and that is media scraping. I have an EmuMovies account. I also have two Launchbox setups - one on my main home office PC and one with the living room TV. Several of the systems are renamed - Commodore 64 (Disks), Commodore 64 (Tapes), Commodore Amiga (WHDLoad), and Commodore Amiga (Disks), So here are my questions: With most of the Arcade based systems, I am never sure what system I should be scraping. For instance, for LaserDisc, I get precious little media whether I scrape Arcade or LaserDisc. I get no images or video for the most popular LaserDisc games like Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. For Sega System 2, Sega System 3, Sega Hikaru, Sega Naomi, Sega Naomi 2, Cave, and Sammy Atomiswave I get different mixes of media depending on whether I scrape the system name or Arcade. Is there a way to scrape several categories at once for one system? Is there a way to combine what I get from scraping multiple categories (one-at-a-time) for one system? Why are some big titles devoid of images and other media (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc.)? Using the same roms and scraping the same sources, I end up with different sets of media on the two setups. The most glaring difference is in the Sammy Atomiswave category where, on my office PC, I have a full set of nice looking box fronts but on my living room PC, despite multiple attempts scraping multiple sources, I have an incomplete set of images. I am picking the same Image Type in LB mode. I even deleted the Sammy Atomiswave media in the living room PC LB folders, copied over the same folders from my office PC, and the media sets still appeared differently. Could any of the problems have to do with how my ROMs (and bins and isos and etc.) are named? When I imported the games into LB, 90% or more of the roms were identified and named correctly by the LB importer, but some systems, particularly the Arcade subsystems, had fewer matches requiring me to manually type in the game title. Also for the non-Dreamcast Demul rom sets (Naomi, Naomi 2 , Hikaru, Cave CV1000, and Atomiswave) I'm using empty text files as the "ROM" and have Demul set to look in my MAME ROM paths for the matching ROM. Works perfectly but again maybe the name of the false ROM (a txt file) is messing with the scraping process? Finally a couple of questions about the scraping options: When scraping, is it best to select or deselect the "Prioritize images over the Launchbox Games Database and Wikipedia?" checkbox? The last choices in the "Download Metadata and Images Wizard" are confusing. Specifically, what's the difference between "Yes but do not replace any existing fields" and "No do not update games with existing metadata." Thanks much for the best frontend software and a great community. Scott

Need help creating batch files for Future Pinball
smpetty replied to smpetty's topic in Troubleshooting
Jeez... I forgot all about BAM. just finished moving from a well established Hyperspin/RocketLauncher setup to a much simpler and easy to maintain/understand LaunchBox only setup. I was using BAM and most of my tables have the additional physics for BAM. Thanks for bumping my memory! -

Need help creating batch files for Future Pinball
smpetty replied to smpetty's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks for the reply! The problem is the command line syntax: FuturePinball.exe /open <full name & path of fpt table file> /play /exit I can't figure out how to get the /open command in front of the .fpt filename and path. The command doesn't work if it follows the .fpt filname. Scott -
I would like to add Future Pinball to Launchbox. The only way that I can seem to make it work is to create a batch file for each table that contains this text: "Future Pinball.exe" /open "filename.fpt" /play /exit The name of the batch file would be filename.bat I have a list of the filenames (I have 424 tables) and I would like to automatically create batch files for each table with the above structure. Is there a utility that will do this for me? I'm not a programmer. Thanks in advance! Scott
