Nice! I was not expecting a Palcom video. The cld 1750 as the player is a nice touch.

@mothergoose729 Really? It required a Bios for me to run Disks. I have a over 500 MSX2 disk games and a lot are the big titles like Snatcher, Aleste and Metal Gear 2.

I couldn't find a tread on this topic so I hope this helps someone. Step-1 I used the "DISK.ROM" bios from the Ru-MSX emulator which can easily be found in a google search for RuMSX 0.41 [Windows] [32-Bit Intel]. Note: There are other bios files that work but this is the only one that has worked on all MSX2 games I tried and I tested about 30 games. I know RuMSX comes with a public bios called C-BIOS but I am not sure if its apart of it, so I am reframing from just uploading a zip. Step-2 Download BlueMSX here http://www.bluemsx.com/ Install open program go to file>ROM 1 select "DISK.ROM" (or you bios of choice) That's it, the emulator remembers the last ROM image you loaded. After this simply add the emulator to launchbox and then add your games. The .dsk files open up no problem with no extra command-line parameters needed. But you will need to swap disk for multi-disk games. I'm not sure why but I couldn't found any information on loading dsk files through the BlueMSX Libretro on retroarch and this method is pretty easy.

Hey Guys, @DOS76 @neil9000 The only thing I changed was the ampersand in the file path. I was on a phone and made some typos hence why you see my comment edits. Hopefully this thread will help someone else or the development team. @neil9000 No worries on the speed of you commenting, Launchbox easily has some of the best support I have ever gotten especially for what is basically freeware.

What a weird glitch!
-
@DOS76 I changed the path from "G:\Emulators & Roms\# Front end\LaunchBox" to "G:\Emulators & Roms\1 Front end\LaunchBox" and everything works now.
-
@DOS76 I just copied my entire luanch box folder to a flash drive and everything works GREAT as is! But videos do not work in its original location, everything works except the video. By path to launchbox is "G:\Emulators & Roms\# Front end\LaunchBox"

@neil9000 l did this and just tried it again, no dice! No video still just a black screen in the background.
-
@neil9000 The theme I am trying is cityhunter. I selected the theme and confirmed, the theme and fonts work just no video. I when to opinions and tried ever view, also scrolled through them with the quick key I assigned. Maybe there is something missing or corrupt?

Neither Video for Platforms or Themes is working on Launchbox (version 7.10) 1-Set Video playback engine to VLC 2-scrolled through ever view mode in bigbox 3-Made sure platform videos are in the correct folder and connected through Tools>Manage Platforms 4- Made sure the theme folder is correctly named and in the correct location. 5- Under options>videos the platform videos have been selected and unselected. 6-Favorite games have turned on and off. Did I miss something?

Run Zipped Games with "Media (CD-ROM)" Sub Folder
GuroDragon replied to GuroDragon's topic in Troubleshooting
@DOS76 Thanks, I was afraid I was going to have to do that. The Sega Saturn has a lot more Japanese games than American, my Japanese folder is 330gb zipped. The Saturn did very well in Japan in fact it was Sega best selling console in the Japanese market but got crushed in every other country, Funny enough Tom Kalinske (CEO of Sega of America, Inc in the early 90s) approach Sony after they got dumped by Nintendo and Sony agreed to market the Playstation under Sega's brand name. BUT Sega of Japan said NO, they got their first hit in Japan by releasing the Saturn but at the cost of loosing all other markets internationally. In the end loosing BADLY to Sony even in their own country after a couple years. -
Run Zipped Games with "Media (CD-ROM)" Sub Folder
GuroDragon replied to GuroDragon's topic in Troubleshooting
@fromlostdays I added them by the zip file and would like to keep them zipped. My games folder for the Saturn is 498GB, it would be well over 1.2TB unzipped. The games work zipped with "Extract ROM archives before running" checked in launchbox, when the archive opens directly to the CUE and iso like this. The problem is that most of my 7z archives open with a subfolder "Media (CD-ROM)" which contains the ISO and Cue like this. Is there anyway maybe via "Custom Command Line Parameters" to point the emulator to the subfolder folder after being unzipped to play. I would think this is a common issue as I have a lot of CD games with this "Media (CD-ROM)" subfolder, especially multi disc games. If you could help that would be AWSOME! -
Run Zipped Games with "Media (CD-ROM)" Sub Folder
GuroDragon replied to GuroDragon's topic in Troubleshooting
@fromlostdays It's for the Sega Saturn using Retroarch. Some files are cdd and the rest are cue. Most of the 7z files have a folder inside called " Media (CD-ROM) " so when you open the zip file it is Media (CD-ROM)>Akumajou Dracula X ~Gekka no Yasoukyoku~ (1998)(Konami Digital Entertainment)(JP).CUE for example. -
I have a lot of zipped games with the exact same "Media (CD-ROM)" sub folder. The same emulator plays zipped games without the "Media (CD-ROM)" sub folder when you have the "Extract ROM archives before running" checked. Is there anyway to point the emulator to that folder after being unzipped.

Getting the NEC PC-FX working in Launchbox with Retroarch
GuroDragon replied to GuroDragon's topic in Emulation
Good to know, you guys do great work. I just assumed it was marked as less important due to the PC-FX being kind of obscure. Are there any plans for mobygames scraping eventually? I saw they launched their API. -
Getting the NEC PC-FX working in Launchbox with Retroarch
GuroDragon replied to GuroDragon's topic in Emulation
Kishin Douji Zenki FX Vajura Fight is a good one. Chip Chan Kick! is an excellent bullet game but a little......weird! I downloaded 74 games but haven't played them much yet, just using them to test and make sure everything works before I posted. I'm new to this system too! The PC-FX seems like another "Anime Machine" like the NEC PC-9800 with a lot of interactive media like a lot of the early CD-rom based machines. 90% of its games are Manga in art style. -
I Watch @Jason Carr's video on "Emulating TurboGrafx 16 & CD" and he explained not being able to get the PC-FX working through Retroarch. Here is a very simple way to set up. The Normal steps 1-Download RetroArch 2-Download cord "mednafen_pcfx_libretro.dll" in Retroarch 3-Imporant your PC-FX games- Unzipped (zipped they wouldn't work), Add games by their .Cue files 4- Set RetroArch as the default Emulator 5- Under Associated platforms NEC PC-FX set the Default to Command Parameters to -L "cores\mednafen_pcfx_libretro.dll" The Important part 6- You need a Bios pack which you might be able to find somewhere like emulationparadise.me. Hint hint. 7- Download the bios pack and disregard the "fx-scsi.rom" and place the "pcfxbios.bin" and "pcfxv101.bin" into the "system" in your Retroarch directory. With these settings the PC-FX worked excellent out of the box with my Dualshock 4 controller on 20 different games. The emulation qaulity is very good to excellent, beyound just playable. This is MUCH easier than using mednafen directly. MagicEngine- FX is a poor working emulator some how, cost $15 and is much harder to use. Hopefully a fellow Otaku found this helpful.

@SentaiBrad I saw the posts from eXo and Jason about using Launchbox for his Windows 3.0 upload, looking forward to it. @fromlostdays What file exchange method would work best for you? All the Exodos images total about about 1.1 gigs.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone but this is how I got the eXoDOS 2.0 collection with all inform, images and play function into the current 7.5 version of LaunchBox. The "Export to Launchbox" feature in MEAGRE does not work with Launch 6.0 and up (from what I know). This install only works if you have no DOS games currently installed, make sure to have your eXoDOS 2.0 collection folder in its permanent resting place before setting everything up. If you have input please feel free I am a Noob. 1) Download the eXoDOS 2.0 collection 2) run the Setup eXoDOS.bat in the eXoDOS folder and complete the setup. 3) After the setup is complete run MEAGRE check that is everything is running, correct and all info and images are present 4) Download Mergre 2.5.2.3 from https://sites.google.com/site/meagrefrontend/download 5) Replace the MEAGRE.exe with the new 2.5.2.3 (the MEAGRE.exe from archive.org is the old version) 6) Download a copy of Launchbox 5.7 (this is the only version that worked for me) 7) Install Launchbox 5.7 in a temporary folder, make sure it works 9) Open MEAGRE from the MEAGRE.exe 10) With MEAGRE open Go to Edit>Export to Launchbox 11) Find the LaunchBox.xml in your Launchbox 5.7 folder click Open 12) After the import is complete go to your Launchbox 5.7 folder find the "LaunchBox.xml" right click edit, once open find (cltrl f) "ImagesReorganizedFor5" change the "<ImagesReorganizedFor5>true</ImagesReorganizedFor5>" to "<ImagesReorganizedFor5>false</ImagesReorganizedFor5>" and save. 13) Open Launch Box 5.7, the games, info and images should be present. If not Refresh the images. 14) Upgrade Launch Box 5.7 to the current version of Launchbox (right now it is 7.5) 15) Go to the now upgraded Launch Box 5.7 directory folder and under Data\Platforms folder move the DOS.xml and PC Booter.xml into your current version of Launchbox Data\Platforms folder. 16) Now go to the upgraded Launch Box 5.7 directory folder and go to the Images folder move the DOS and PC Booter folders into the Images folder in your current version of Launchbox. 17) Open your current 7.5 version of Launchbox and all 5193 games should be installed and working under the DOS and PC Booter PLATFORM. With me I left the dos games zipped and they worked great, not ever game has box art but all have at least screen caps and more than enough information for you to know if you want to try it out. If you to want avoid installing DOS games all day this is as easy as I think it can get.

I am a Noob here but want to express my thanks for all the hard work @Jason Carr @eXo @donarumo have done. I have been emulating since I wee kid in the 90s but it was Launch Box, retroarch and the Exodos that pushed over the edge to put a proper collection together and buy a raid box. Its really easy and fun now to browse your favorites and discover gems you missed.

The zip files work when I open them in retroarch, but not launch box. I am trying this for the Turbografx -16 with mednafen_pce_fast but I have this problem with the Atari Lynx and Handy. Like I said the associated platforms are name correctly. Here are a couple screen grabs, if something is wrong please do tell!

How do I get retro Arch to open 7zipped games better? Some consoles using retroarch via Launchbox with zips work and others do not. Check list -Associate Platform section is character perfect -Command-line sections is pointing to the correct core -Extract Rom archives is checked -Games work in Retroarch Zipped -Games will open in Launch Box using Retroarch unzipped But games do not open in Launch Box using Retroarch zipped Any solutions?
