NAS Install
in Noobs
@luckyforeal USe symbolic Links. I do exactly this... However you will have to do it for every emulator that is on your computer. Years ago when i set this up I found it to run really slow only because of the images folder. Currently I have images on the computers (backup and synced using rclone to all other computers), and everything else on the NAS. Here are my files. You will need to run them form host computer and change all of the directories to match yours. In most cases I tried to use the %appdata% type of shortcut. There is also a reg file listed in here that will move your dolphin main folder you run that before running the .bat file for the symbolic links. If you use these CTRL-H will be your friend to change all destination folders at 1 time. I have other emulators done also so ask if you need them in PM
Here are a couple of pictures of my drives the first one is my Videogames folder on my nas, the second is my backup folder inside that videogames folder, and the third is my c:\games folder which is where my launchbox and some emulators are installed at.

Ok, so i am exploring the possibility of removing my RocketLauncher install, and I have a couple of questions.
1. Should I remove it, if it is currently working: basically it usually works 100%, but sometimes after an emulator update it breaks and you have to find the new ahk file hidden in their forums.
2. I currently like the following features of Rocketlauncher
A. Ultimarc U360 Controller changing - Rocketlauncher automatically switches between 4 way, 8 way, 2 way, Qbert way, etc. Can Launchbox do this? If so how, I checked the options menu
B. Fades - I know that Launchbox has these but can they look as good as rocketlauncher and just simply put a picture up?
C. Bezel - I am currently using Bezel Project. I do not use Retroarch at this time for many of my emulators. Is there a way to make it work the same?
D. Pause menu - Again I know Launchbox has this, again is it equivalent
E. Instruction Cards
Obviously the first 3 are the most important. But the ultimate one is A the ultimarc U360 Maps

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I've noticed that lately the mame-arcade leaderboards aren't showing up anywhere in LaunchBox. Previously, I could see them in the details (right side) bar and also when right-clicking on a particular Mame game. But I've tried the default theme (and a few others) and they're nowhere to be found.
Update: Oops! I found the problem. When I renamed the "mame.exe" to "mame64.exe" the problem was solved
Why did you have to change the ame of mame/ was it because your system was set to mame64 or that the leaderboards required it to be named mame64?

So, I am aware of that section. However, the metadata still downloads or at least says it downloads. I decided that my files should be just about right and i do not anticipate too many more downloads so i set it to update all my media. It has now been 3 hours of it "Downnloading metadata for" XXX rom. I believe the option you speak of means that it simply will not download additional files for box front, if you already have a box front.
Thanks for your response!

Can we add seperate checkboxes here for Search Launchbox Database for metadata (Game information) and another for download images (media) from Launchbox Database. I already know my games are matched correctly but I need to add additional images. Occasionally I have had Launchbox freeze up during downloading alot of images. At that time I have to redownload the metadata also.
See pic below

Glad you are doing these again! Thanks

No, I don't think that it has changed. But of course you don't NEED Yuzu to run as admin for it being able to run. But I have found a way to run Yuzu as admin, without UAC prompt and with an exit script. First I added an "Yuzu Admin" emulator to LaunchBox. This is just an AutoHotKey script. When I start a Switch game in LaunchBox, LaunchBox passes the rom name to this "Yuzu Admin" script. This "Yuzu Admin" script then copies the rom name to a second script and after that the second script gets executed as a scheduled task with admin privileges. So that second script is elevated and starts Yuzu with command-line parameters and rom name. Also that second script contains the Yuzu exit script so I can exit Yuzu with Escape. All this is a bit complicated and maybe there are easier ways to accomplice the same.
@Korothcan you send the contents of your script here?

Just wanted to say thanks to @chilidogand the others who helped me get me xemu working in launchbox! Awesome work

I meant the LaunchBox / BigBox startup screens. One thing you could try that I can think of. Do the games run if you try them in CXBX directly? Sometimes an emulator in heavy development has a regression that prevents games that once worked from working.
What workes for me:
- Setting cxbx-ldr.exe as my emulator in LaunchBox using the /load argument in the command line.
- No ahk script except to close cxbx-ldr.exe
- Ticking "Use Exclusive Fullscreen Mode" in CXBX videosettings. (I myself use a Display Resolution 3840 x 2160 32 bit.)
- In LaunchBox "Manage Emulator" settings for CXBX Reloaded in the "Startup Screen" tab: "Hide all windows that are not in Exclusive Fullscreen Mode" ticked with a "Startup Load Delay" of 3 seconds.
One thing to note though, I do not have the games you mentioned as not working. (Blood Wake and Crimson Skies).
This worked for me Thanks!
QuoteDoes anyone know if I can rename default.xbe? I tried it on crazy taxi 3, but apparently crazy taxi 3 doesn't work anyway. I'm looking for an easy way to add to launchox. Thinking of making shortcuts. Any other suggestions
NVM all of this quote I found that awesome feature of using the names of the folders not rom files.

Yes, great write up. By advertising I hope to get more people intriqued by it and vote for it. Hopefully a new vote will be coming out soon

https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/5804/feature-request-multi-console-multiplayer
@Darkshade or anyone else. Can someone please explain to me how this feature request works. I am very interested in it, if it will work in my instance.
First thing is that I don't play many portable games. I could defiantly see how this would benefit portables, but what about consoles?
I would like to play console games between 2 separate computers like a system link configuration
Here is a snipit of the feature request submitted by Darkshade
Darkshadecreated an issue 2020-12-11My wife recently received some time off, and as such, I thought that it would be a nice idea to spend time playing some games together.
The sort of games I wanted to play with her were multiplayer co-op games, where we could go through a story together and actively complete the game together. She's a fan of The Legend of Zelda series, so Four Swords on the Gameboy Advance, Four Swords Adventures on the Gamecube and Four Swords Anniversary Edition (DSiWare) came to mind immediately.
Alongside games like Kirby's Amazing Mirror (Gameboy Advance).
I also wanted to give Triforce Heroes (3DS) a shot, before being reminded that it's 3-Player only.We started with Four Swords on the GBA.
I opted to do this through emulation because it would allow us to effectively play 'Split screen' while sitting on the couch and playing the game(s) through HDMI-out (mirrored) on the TV.For my purposes, I found that the ideal setup was to have two of the same emulator in separate locations from my usual Emulator directory for Launchbox (as not to mess with the settings).
They would each be set up with separate settings (for controller input and any other quirks required) so it would simply be a case of booting them up each time and selecting the game I wanted to play. -
Just wanted to put in my suggestion to add the ability to import games from the XBOX gamer pass PC app, as well as the new EA desktop app.
The EA desktop app is currently in beta and going live on like December 14, this will be the only way to access EA play through your XBOX gamer pass PC. I have 2 sit down racers and would love to be able to easily add Need for Speed through the app to my Launchbox app.
The xbox Gamer pass app allows you to add games from xbox gamer pc to your pc. Again with the racer I would love to be able to add the FOrza games easily to my Launchbox app
here is a link to read about the desktop app https://www.ea.com/news/ea-desktop-app
here is a link talking about it coming to game pass pc https://www.ea.com/ea-play/news/ea-play-coming-to-xbox-game-pass and https://indianexpress.com/article/technology/gaming/ea-play-now-available-with-xbox-game-pass-on-console-and-android-7045517/

So I can rerun it in the same folder and it will not lose my favorites? Thats really what this is about
-
Thats my point. Is there a way to simply upgrade mame? Whats the easiest way, so I do not end up with 1000 of duplicates.

Mame 64 0.0225 No Nag
View File
This is an updated NoNag. Mad9k is no longer doing them.
Here is a temp fix for future versions as I only update once a year.
Mame dev has come up with a compromise to where you can put this line in your ini file and then the nags will not show up for a certain amount of time.
Place this in ui.ini under UI MISC Options:
skip_warnings 1
This file is thanks to @nate67000 . If he has a problem sharing it here, I can remove his file and add mine i created. I just trust his more

Ok, I am needing a way to seperate the roms from a mame playlist, specifically Racing Games. I would rather just seperate any game that requires a steering wheel if possible. Any suggestions. Can clrmamepro do this? If so anyone have a tutorial?
-
Needing to upgrade mame and was wondering what the best way is to handle that.
1. download Mame64
2. download Mame Roms and chd to match Mame Version
So my question is when i go to add the media to launchbox, what is the best way.
Do i simply
1. Create a new Mame category and let it find everything the right way?
a. this causes me to lose all my favorites
2. Go to tools, Import, rom files
a. this may get duplicate games or still have old files that are no longer used.
Please advise

Any possibility to get xbox game pass games added to launchbox? They have a gamepass specifically for pc now and it basically works like live does.

One more problem!
Anyone use any kind of program or have any suggestion on how to make my controllers and mice learn in to same controller port everytime? For instance I have 2 ultimark u360 controllers that I need to always be learned in as controller 1 and 2. I also have a trackball and 2 spinners that I need learned in as mouse 1,2,3 everytime. My issue is now it is being learned in as mouse 5. How it got there I do not know.
Edit: This is a windows thing not an emulator or other software issue, but I am looking for a software or hardware solution!
-
So, I am having this problem that I just can't figure out. My setup is pc, windows 10, lo launchbox, mame .211, ipac ultimate, u360. Mitt problem is sometimes when we hit sw2 (s) and sw3 (q) in some combination. Occasionally it acts like we hit alt-tab and goes back to launchbox, but mame is still loaded. We can not duplicate it, it just happens sometimes. I think it really has to do with either launchbox or the ipac or possibly something strange happening to power on the ipac.
Any suggestions
Edit: someone in another group posted this. I do have rocketlauncher, ledblinky, winpac, and ultramap running on the system
q and s is the Exit Script hotkey in RocketLauncher which force closes RL. You can change that hotkey in RocketLauncherUI on the General Settings -> Control tab. Or remap the ipac

For what it's worth, as far as I can tell these weren't crashes at all. They seem to have been caused by Android devices killing the import process because it was using too many resources.
I would a hundred percent agree with this diagnosis.

@Jason Carr Here to. I noticed that Mame took 15 minutes to finish but Sega Genesis took like an hour. Unknown reason but nothing crashed! I am now done adding games to my shield and now to worry about other issues I will probaby run into with my setup!

I have a shield 2019 and I still have issues importing games, with newest update available to me. Can't check which version but I just reinstalled yesterday. So i set it to ame import and it goes for an hour or so and then I find that the app crashes. Of course then I wasted an hour of my life. It has also happened on Super Nintendo. I am REALLY looking forward to being able to import just the games and add the images later.
XBLA (Microsoft Xbox 360 Live Arcade) Rename Scripts
in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Posted · Edited by Aevans0001
Ok so this uses Bulk Rename Utility and I think it works pretty well.
This file will work on any file that is named the title id for Xbox 360 or Xbox 360 Live Arcade
These instructions will work on any set that is in jtag format where you have multiple fiolder structure followed by one file.
I attached a pdf with this manual with included pictures
Xenia File Rename Instructions
Step 1: Rip Games
Step 2: Complete the a Xenia Guide found on Google
Step 3: Download Bulk Rename utility here
https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php
Step 4: Download the Xenia.txt file from Here
Step 5: Install Bulk Rename Utility (Going forward called BRU)
Step 6: Load Bulk Rename Directory
Step 7: In BRU find your Xbox Live Arcade files you downloaded in step 1
Step 8: In lower left under Filters (12) Uncheck folders and check subfolders let it scan and finish
Step 9: Click Type in the upper right corner to sort by file type. Scroll down and click on the file “C3474230481B764B60F5BA68D5280641D9EDA1D858” and then scroll all the way down to the last file type of file is should be called “51A36D8B3D51B0E5983B9A0A63EB5EB4877F582358” If you did it right at the bottom it should say (775 Selected).
Step 10: Change Append Folder Name (9) with the following options Name: prefix Sep. ( Levels 2. Your folders should look like this. As you see I expanded my name and new name just to show you how it renames it. Basically it is adding the title id as the first 8 characters of the file name and then a space and a (
Step 11: Make sure the bottom left of your screen says 775 selected and hit rename you should see a summary of the command when it is done
Step 12: Click the check mark next to Append Folder Name (9) by the Rename button and change Remove(5) Crop After and (000D0000 next to it MAKE SURE YOUR GREEN TEXT LOOKS LIKE MINE
Step 13: Click rename and ignore on the 2 errors for Aegis Wing and Prince of Persia
Step 14: Now Change the (000D0000 to (00000002 and rename. Click Ingnore all and notice this time there are 13 errors
Step 15: Now we will remove The (00000002 out of that box and add it to the box right above, besides Words
Step 16: Now erase the (00000002 and put in (000D0000 the same box, click rename. You now see that almost all files are 8 characters long. Congrats that’s the hard part done
Step 17: Click reset at bottom left of BRU and Redo step 8, highlight all type: File programs (775 selected)
Step 18 Click Action - Import rename Pairs - Locate the XBLA.,txt file you downloaded in step 4. As you see the 8 character Files are now names. All 8 character files should now be green words
Step 19: Make sure the box next to Remove (5) is not checked, and in location Copy/Move to Location (13) enter the path where you want to move your Newly created Files. Uncheck Copy not move. I chose root to move to. Ignore all errors
Step 20: Now Add a new sub directory to move the duplicates to. Again I chose root/Duplicates
Step 21: Delete all directories except Duplicates and 007XBLA.
Happy Gaming!
