I use standalone Mame version 0.214 so my mame bezels are placed each in their own folder here: "...\Mame\artwork", for example: "...\Mame\artwork\3countb\Bezel.png".

From my experience, if you want 100% showing bezels then use game bezels only for Mame roms and stay away from console game bezels or use one console bezel for all games from each console (that would be boring though in my opinion) until someone comes up with a proper name matching solution. Start by downloading the latest mame roms. They are out there. By the way. All my non Disc based console roms are the latest no-intros.

As you can read from my attempt which nobody answered, be prepared for a lot of games not showing bezels after renaming the cfg files by using FatMatch. FatMatch will miss a lot of games names, no matter the settings, its better than nothing but its not a proper solution by any mean. Unfortunately, there is no proper solution to this. Take it or leave it. If you don't care about uniformity then go ahead. One will argue that its better not to have bezels at all rather than some games showing bezels and others not. Think about it. By the way, i'm only talking about console roms as all Mame roms show bezels.

Problem solved! RA mame core. For the benefit of people who break their heads on how to get this to work. Posting my configuration: Materials needed: neocd CHD's folder from mame SL CHD's. neocdz.zip from mame arcade roms RA with mame core installed 1. Make a RA platform specifically for NGCD with the following configuration: 2. A suggestion for the moderators: Make a simple step by step guides for each platform and add it to the forum. There is no replacement for a written material and some of the LB video guides are outdated and it can be difficult to find out for an answer from only using the search and many times the answer does not exist. This will make everything easier... and draw more people to use LB and pay for LBP.

I'm trying to load them in LB as i'm only interested in LB to load games. Mame is already configured in LB for my arcade games and NGCD. Neo geo cd CHD folder is already imported to LB. Here are some screenshots:

Sure, i'll use stand alone mame. I searched for guides and discussion here but found nothing. Did i miss something? Anyway, i downloaded neocd folder from mame sl CHD merged set and ditched the redump set because mame supports CHD's for neogeo cd, i put neogeo.zip and neocdz.zip bios files i downloaded from the web inside the neocd folder, entered mame and directed it to my neocd folder for roms , i tried to load games but non of them will load. What am i missing?

I got Redump Neo Geo CD set. Each game is a zip file. In each zip file there is cue file and dozen of bin files (like the printed screen shows). How do i make it work with the latest Mame/RA latest Mame core, inside LB? Can i play with the games zipped or do i need to unzip them? Do i need to convert the cue file and the dozen of bin files to other format? What about bios? Which is better for NG CD, Standalone Mame or RA latest Mame core? I imported the zip files but the games won't load. Also, i unzipped the files and tried to import the cue files of each game but i got en error message (second printed screen). neogeo.zip and neocdz.zip are inside "...RA/system". Thanks in advance!

I used FatMatch to rename my SMS cfg's (configured 65% accuracy) but for some reason as seen in the screenshot, it won't list "Aladdin (Europe, Brazil).zip"-----"Aladdin (Europe).cfg" while it will list other similarly related files like Ace of Aces (Europe, Brazil).zip-----Ace of Aces (Europe).cfg, 1. Why it won't list it? As you can see the list is alphabetical. Also, both files are present in their respective folders. 2. Is there recommended settings for renaming? I'm aware that there cannot be 100% accuracy and i read the whole thread and found no answers.

@dragon57 So i downloaded a clean (no demos, no betas, etc.) 1G1R (one game, one rom) no-intro genesis-megadrive set (USA, Europe, Japan) and more games seem to show bezels but still, some games won't show bezels, examples: Not showing bezels: Sipder-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (World) Showing bezels: Spider-Man (North America, Europe) What could be the problem? Btw, RA Genesis Plus GX core is updated. I PM'd you my Rom set list.

Do you have a list of how megadrive/genesis files should be named for the bezels to always show? PM'ed you as well in regard.

I uninstalled mega drive bezels from BP and installed them again from BP. Now, Most roms i try don't show any bezels, only a small minority do. What's next?

Done, but now games don't show overlays at all. ?

@dragon57On second thought... Aren't renaming is a solution only for roms that does not show any bezels at all (black sides)? All my roms show bezels. Again, my problem is that One wrong bezel (of other game) is displayed in many different games and that bezel is of bugs bunny genesis game. So i thought maybe its a retroarch wrong configuration and entered RA and found the bezel in the settings: Onscreen display>Onscreen overley>Overley display>bugs bunny in double trouble What is this setting for? What should be configured here? Is renaming all rom sets still the solution?

Got it. I downloaded "bulk rename utility", can you tell me what do i need to set there in order to rename the cfg files in the RA config folder?

As i wrote, bezels are showing, read 1. and 2. again, and i'll add: 3. One wrong bezel (of other game) is displayed in many different games. So, lets take SMS for example, in order to solve all of the above, i need to rename the cfg files in "...RetroArch\config\Genesis Plus GX" and the cfg and png files in "...RetroArch\overlays\GameBezels\MasterSystem" to the names of the rom files that are in my SMS roms folder, am i right?

The search begins then. Btw, When i bought my computer they said that one of the benefits of my CPU is that its good for overclocking. Do you know if games performance would benefit from overclocking my CPU? Does it worth it?

I installed bezel project for windows. Standalone mame bezels work fine. Retroarch cores rom bezels are mostly miss than hit, i tried genesis and SMS: 1. For genesis, wrong bezels (of other game) are displayed for most of the times. 2. For SMS its worse, bezels are also not covering the whole sides or covering parts of the game itself. What am i doing wrong? Should RA or the cores be configured specifically for the bezels to display correctly? Specific display configurations? Does bezelproject only supports roms from one region? Where are the bezels saved? All my console rom sets are of no-intro. All the the RA cores i use are the once that BP recommends. I'm a bit lost here. Thanks in advance!

And lb.xml and bigbox.xml, right? Aside of these folders and files, all the settings should reset to default, right?

Changed to d3d11 and games run fine now. I will lower my expectations from big box presentation until i get a new GPU. Can anyone recommend a dedicated GPU for my pc spec? It seems like a good time to buy one now that black friday is coming soon. Yeah, hopefully someone else can answer my other questions. That does not answer my question. I need to know EXACTLY which folders and files to keep. Surprisingly, no LB backup tutorial addresses that. From what i can learn myself by experience it seems that the folders and files that need backup are: Folders: data, images, manuals, metadata, videos. Files: launchbox.exe xml, bigbox.exe xml. Maybe i'm wrong though. Anyway, the last thing i want is to import Teras of roms, emumovies, etc. for like, 15 different platforms, again and again in case of a fresh LB install and possibly loose data.

Hello, I own and installed launchbox premium/bigbox 10.6+emumovies files+bezelproject files. Currently standalone Mame and retroarch (genesis gx plus core for SMS and Genesis roms, nestopia core for NES roms) but planning soon to install ALL consoles full sets of roms i can find from the 80's up to PS3 and XBOX 360 roms. My questions and issues are: 1. Bigbox program opening - I added a bigbox startup video. In the first few opening of BB the startup played fine but now there is a black screen and only the sound is playing, in each scenario, its impossible to skip the video with a press. Anyway, after the startup video ends there is about 5 seconds of black screen before the platform menu appears. How do i make the startup video display again? How do i make a smooth transition from the end of the BB startup video to BB? How do i press a button to skip the startup video in case i want to? 2. Bigbox unified redux displaying black background screen in platform view and some kind of "screensaver" like black screen with a line of information at the bottom - when i enter the vertical platform menu it goes black and only when i press up or down the menu appears for a second and then goes black again. When its black it displayes a line of information at the botton. How do i change the black background to something nicer in the platform view screen and disable this "screensaver" like black screen of information? 3. Standalone mame in BB - In game view screen it won't show any game videos, only images and when entering a game it shows this annoying "this machine is not working" and than another screen of "CPU, etc..." information before the actual game launches. How do i make the mame game videos appear? Is there a way to disable the 2 opening info screens before the mame game actually launches? 4. Launchbox premium/bigbox backup - how do i backup LB/BB and make a fresh install that will remember my configured emulators, platforms, imported roms, emumovies files? My emulators and roms are located outside LB folder. 5. Game view - How do i make LB/BB only display one region of a platform full set, say, EURO region, or only two regions of a platform full set, say, EURO and JAPAN? How do i make BB not display a rom that does not have a video or image information in the game view? 6. Slowness (hardware limitation?) - SMS, Genesis and NES games run really slow - unplayable. When i enter RA directly, say that i want to update cores, it also runs really slow. Standalone mame runs fine but it seems that my motherboard graphic card does not support HLSL (or is it?) which makes mame games look fake. BGFX acually work but currently mame cannot save BGFX on so its not an option. Hello, I downloaded "DEmul v0.7a (TZ-Split)" in the past from pleasuredome tracker. It contains a roms folder and a chd folder. How do i get this to work with launchbox? I read DEmul is the best emulator for dreamcast emulation (or is it?) so i would like to use it with the roms and chd. I tried to look for tutorials but found nothing. Where do i start? What consoles are better played through mame? Aren't software list roms named differently and will work only through mame? So standalone emulators are recommended for: Atari 2600 - Stella Atari 5200, kat 5200, Atari 7800, Prosystem Atari Jaguar, PPSSPP, Dolphin.

Ok, so what i get from that thread is that dreamcast should be played from outside retroarch, retroarch also saves game progress, is good for enhancing graphics for consoles especially, and makes all controllers compatible. I guess retroarch chooses the best emulators for each system and i will also follow the lb tutorial videos. There is mention there of retroarch option to play the games in 720p, really? How can i configure it? Can standalone mame played in 720p as well? 2. What about mame software lists vs retroarch vs standalone? No information on that... I tried to load mame software list roms (without the chd's) in my lbp but it just added mame arcade roms which i already have before adding it, strange... Does lbp even work with mame software lists and mame software lists chd?
