  1. To group games I usually use Playlist

If you want to put your games together with MS-Dos, then create a playlist

But if you want to add them apart, you should create a dedicated platform. Call it Doom Msdos and scrape it like Ms-Dos, should work

  2. Hi all!

That is a new error that now is happening.

Usually I use 2 different way to import roms:

    1) I select all the roms that I want to import and then I drag&drop in LB. Then appear the import screen that we know

    2) I select from tools "import roms", appears the screen, I select "files" and then add all the files that I need, inserting in the right up corner *.cue or *.fpt or others and then select all and click ADD. LB add all to the screen and I proceed.

At this time, instead, with method 1) it does nothing. If I drag&drop 1 or 2 roms it starts, if I drop more then 2 roms it does nothing. I have tried different ones, nothing. Instead if I pick 10 icons from desktop and drop them...it Starts!

With the second method LB show the message that I attach. If I select 1 or 2 roms it adds them, if I select 3...error. II have tried different ones but nothing.

It is very strange, maybe something has been damaged?

    Thank you!

Everyone has their priorities on features they want to see added. Every poll, I am surprised on what makes the cut or not from user vote side.  But specific to your idea, I don't use different themes on playlists now, and most definitely wouldn't use different themes at a platform/category level...visually I think it just makes it too much.  Although I geek out on all this stuff, my experience is friends/family that might use BigBox, prefer the "keep it simple" approach. Plus, a "good" theme is already a difficult thing to pull off.  Adding in more complexity (interface/graphics wise) means someone has to spend a lot of design time to make each of those categories/platforms/playlists themes mesh without looking like a jumbled mess and/or so confusing people cannot figure out what is going on.

Ultimately, for me, it isn't that it is a stupid idea, it is just that I see a whole bunch of things I would want to see added before that.

Thank you very much for your reply!

Yes, I understand what you are saying and it is absolutely true! I wasn't thinking about that.

My BB is a little confusing. For sure it is not simple because I like having a lot of different views, style and so on. But you are right, not everyone could like that mess!

This gives me the opportunity to reflect on myself. I think my BB reflects a lot of what my character is. I thank you again very much for this thoughtful stimulus that you have offered me.

  4. Vertically Oriented Games - playlist theme

    View File

    Hi all guys!
Your premiere amazing incredible video editor is here to present a new production!
Hollywood is searching me for new effects, but I am too lazy for it. 🤣

Anyway, my third attempt to make a video, I have stolen graphics everywhere and this is the result! 🤣

Ok, thank me when you laugh!

Ehi, there was this missing playlist video...so I have done for all!

    Happy?

    Love

  5. Hi all!

Sorry to bother you with my thought.

I am wondering because you all are not interested in this feature:

    https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6928/having-different-category-platform

I think I am doing some mistake or maybe I am not thinking it in the right way, so, please, help me to understand.

What I am asking with this feature is the ability to have different Themes in BB in playlist/category platform and platform, like we have at the moment for the roms.

When we enter a playlist, you know, we can set different themes. So, the Barbie collection can use Unified Redux meanwhile the Batman collection can use Cover Box theme. And this is very fascinating.

I'd like having the same when I enter Console or Arcade for example.

Arcade are a different world from console or computers, handheld, hack and so on. And I'd like having different themes.

yes, I am like a little child when I start my BB, I pass time looking my collection and trying to make it always better.

Dont you think that it should be a good idea?

I imagine the zelda "tree" collection with Pademonium set theme, meanwhile Arcade with Unified and "The best of" my arcade playlist with another one.

What dont you like in that?

We should study and create Themes only for a specific Category for example.

I love you all anyway, even if you dont vote it...but if you vote it I'll love you more!!! 🤣

    Thanks,

yes I have all folders games on a big hard disk so i will try your code this night.

But... How to do for use it?

    Must be .bat?

    Thanks

Yes, create a text file, copy the code in and then save.

.txt must be renamed to .bat to be launched

Try it in a little folder if you want to test it.

and how you would get a list of games that you have but are not even installed on your PC i do not know if that is actually possible at all.

effectively I have assumed he had the folder of each game, otherwise is quite impossible

  8. Aggiungo...direi che ti serva un singolo file di testo per ogni  titolo del gioco per poterlo importare correttamente.

E non un unico file contenente tutti i titoli, operazione di import che non ho mai fatto su LB e non so nemmeno se si possa eseguire.

Thanks, but I haven't installed all games and I don't have ink files, for this I would create a txt files with names of games for import and scraping on LB.

(ho cercato "batch command to create text file with folder name")

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20233707/how-to-create-a-batch-file-to-write-the-folder-name-in-a-text-file-inside-each-f

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33571767/batch-file-to-create-a-text-file-with-the-same-name-as-every-zip-file-in-a-dire

    La prima parte

    for /d %%a in (*) do

  10. I hope it can help.

When I import Windows Games I generally use the shortcut files. And usually all windows games have one.

depends on where you have put them but if they were in your windows folder, you should "add files" and then in the search box type "*.lnk" to search all the games files with the right title also. Search act in subfolder too.

It is the same process that you use when you import a lot of cue/bin roms.

    Sorry if it can help!

  11. Dear Mr. Shizzy,

I have not a right reply to give you. But I am here to quote what are you saying.

I have already meet this theme and I "vote" for having files separated.

    If we take, for example:
    https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/images/576

    Ridge Racer Type 4

you can see that with the game, not all version anyway, comes Ridge Racer Turbo Mode, that is a demo game of the first Ridge Racer playable at 60hz.

I'd like having it separated in some way and not only in "apps". Is not another version of the same game. Maybe the DB should be organized a little in a different way. Each bonus disc or extra disc should keep the link (ID?) with his original disc but having his space.

In my collection I can keep the bonus disc and not the original game from which it come.

  12. Organizzazione.bmp

This is a question that I have done a lot of time.

I find yours organization very interesting. Mine is more classic maybe.

I have divided in this way because of I have to show the right video in BB.

If I cant find an appropriate video is very hard that I put a voice in the tree.

Under computer, console and so on I have all the platform, not grouped like you. With your system I think that you navigate better if you have a lot of voices...and I have.

Under "I preferiti di xevvino" I have put a platform and a genre category in which I put my favourites games!

I miss pinball because I have not understood yet how they works and which one I have to use. But soon or later... ^_^

If you look, handhelds can be under console, web broweser under computer and my favourites undere playlist. Why I have separated? Because I want more voices at start, not too much but I prefer to start with a good set. I dont like to select too much voices to reach a game.

Anyway it is an hard work, it's 3 years now that I am working on it!

  13. I dont know if it can help but:

try to change the view in LB to "playlist" and then search them there. Maybe you have to select the right "parent" to nest them correctly.

The playlist name can be what you want. In some BB themes there are already some playlists images and if you want to use them you have to match the same name.

But LB can read a playlist called "SAKLJDKLASJDLKAJKSLK" to be used with any system.

Do people understand the magnitude of the possibilities here?

I think that you have touched a core problem.

No, normal people cannot understand what does it means! And it is quite normal. Each of us has his work and interests. I am using LB because is easy to use. I was using, years ago, hyperspin and rocket launcher and they were too hard for me. So I have searched and found this awesome software!

I admit that I had problems understanding the points of the questionnaire (mister? and who is he? I only know Mister x of Tiger Man!). I watched the video on youtube and it didn't clarify my ideas. Reading the posts here, I realize that I'm not the only one who doesn't understand.
it seems to me that the direction of LB is to simplify access for all. Let's help the poor computer ignorant to understand and use this great software easily.
Let's make it as simple as possible for everyone.

(we have not yet a bulk editor for playlists! HELP!)

I did not changed it on my behalf because I like the auto populate style and still have hope the "magic" behind it will some time gets an improvement.

I have playlists like "games done" "favourites" "hides" etc based on flags in the game details. and this per system.

nevertheless: I would like to have an improvement on the playlists as well. bulk editor AND also chance to copy a playlist to another system. I had setup the same 5 playlists throughout 50 systems or so. annoying. even tried copy paste the xml files did not worked for me.

    I totally agree!
Sometimes seems that editing xml or other stuff makes people cool.

Instead it is a big waste of time and I dont like doing it. Sometimes I have to do but I prefer to do something else.

Moreover, LB/BB should point to sell copy to all. To reach this target it should keep on simplify a lot of part. Managing playlist, platform is one of the base core, I suppose.
I appreciate a lot retroarch integration, the new mame import and so on. I hope they can add also these standard feature.

I think that there is a problem on the feature request. People that does not like to program or "hard edit", loose interest in putting feature request. Using bitbucket is not so easy like using a forum. Seems that became a "specialist feature request".

Anyway... I love LB and BB and the guys that works here, I am only thinking on how to make our games better ^_^

I hope that there is space for some reasonable critic... it is my work, cannot do different 🤣

I have similar issues just because of sooo many playlists based on filters. so every time I start BB or LB the system is recalculating the Playlists again.

    thank you for your reply!
I have read it, but I have not thought that old playlists should recalculate it each time...what a noob.

So I have removed autopopulate MANUALLY

(ehi, it is incredible that we have not a playlist bulk editor, I have added it immediately to future request:

    https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6958/playlist-bulk-editor

Vote it if you use LB)

and loaded BB two times (I have read that the first time have to precache new playlist)

but has changed quite nothing, maybe a little less, now it take about 5 minus I think

Do you think it is correct now?

I hoped in something better...and I have lost 1 hour to change more than 100 playlist...argh

Anyway thank you again for your advice!!
