  1. Sega 32X Retroachievements Playlist - xml - clear logo - video

    View File

    Hi!

this playlist has 10 games, yes, very little, but funny!

    here the complete list:

    https://retroachievements.org/gameList.php?c=10

    NO MISSING THIS TIME! (ahhahaha)

You can find xml, clear logo (the same type that I have already used) and video (Used video from Nlash and uploaded by Benjam to keep an Unified style)

BUT, if you want to use a very cool Clear Logo I suggest to look here:

    Uploaded by @DerSchlachter

    That's all for now

P.S. Try Clayfighter 2 Prototype RA...5 minutes of fun!

    • Haha 1
  2. I have done it last year.

I suggest you to remove all and make a fresh new install.

Updating I had some doubled playlists and some doubled roms

    3) Unless you delete your playlists, they remains. But what can change is what inside the playlists.  If you add manually to favourite playlist, it does not change for sure. But if you add what you have marked "favourite" in LB and made the playlist checking the "favourite-true" games...I may suppose that data will be lost. In this case you can remove the actual favourite-true parameter from your playlist and it'll save the games checking the titles you have already in that list.

    4) You can do a backup of LB setting. But with a fresh new install you are quite sure to import what you need

I don't know about your case, but let me explain you a few things about the database moderation/submission mechanics. And also reasons why current moderation is really problematic:

    1) it takes only 3 moderators to let a submission go through. And there are so many moderators right now that if it happens to be three "trigger happy" ones just pressing the green button without much thought it might go through without actual/proper moderation.

    2) I've witnessed at least hundreds or even thousands of times a submission has gone through which has clearly broken the database rules (noting that as of today I have rejected over 35 000 submissions/changes but also accepted over 364 000 - so I know what I'm saying). That is why even if something is initially accepted, it may not be rightfully accepted.

    3) There is an ancient database bug that when adding a new entry, especially if you do add a lot of "new games" in the database, some of them will result in duplicates. Usually they are the next Launchbox ID. Like if you had the database create ID 334678 it could have made an exact duplicate (but without any media in it, just the texts) as ID 334679. There is no cure for this until the database will get a major overhaul.

I don't know if your case is a database duplication bug, or are the moderators (those who really look into things and take time to decide) seeing something that shouldn't be there. But that question is for those doing alterations on your entries.

Personally I think replacing duplicate/deletion entries bring other kind of problems. That's why when I frankly don't know what should be done; if it's green (accept) or red (reject), I press yellow (skip).

Thank you a lot for your reply. Seems I am entering a bigger world full of problems.

In my opinion these should be rejected. From my understanding these hacked subsets change NOTHING about the actual game and are just used to trick RetroArch in to giving you a different set of achievements. According to the guidelines that would not warrant a separate entry in the database as there is no significant difference between the original and hacked game.

Thank you for your reply. Obviously I can understand your thought BUT

What I mean, anyway, is that only if you hack that rom you can play the new RA. So, at the end, you are using an hacked rom. Not the official one.

If we enter the problem of "How much should be hacked a rom to be considered an Hacked rom"...we'll die before reaching a solution.

I apply a patch? Yes. ---> I hacked the rom.

    And we have 2 problems:

-1)exchanging complete playlists. Try to dl my playlist and add them to your launchbox, subset may disappear because they have same entry of the original game if we dont separate them

-2)If they are on the same entry, when I click on that game I can see only the achievements of the base rom and not the subset one. Ok, you can say it is not a great problem, but why I am using a feature that I cannot completely use? There are a lot of RA players and having a quite perfect UI that handle RA can help spread LB software.

But, if we speak in general of DB entries, what I cant understand is "DB has some space (HD) problem that cannot handle other entries? What is the problem adding a total of...100 roms (for all platform) for a feature that we are using?" I cant understand that.

I think we are blindly following an idea without improving or adapting it to the situation

Thank you again for your time!

  4. Hi again...

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Duplicate, Please Overwrite) Details - LaunchBox Games Database (launchbox-app.com)

I have requested this set. I have set the name: Guitar Hero III:  Legends of Rock [Subset - Expert Full Combos]

    It was accepted

Now it is changed to (duplicate, Please Overwrite)

Ok, who was? Why? I am making a lot of topics and who writes this does not reply? What is that?

There is a strict council that decide for the others? And I am not deserving a reply from this council?

    It is a joke?

Anyone is able to explain me, please?

What are mods for if a metadata is accepted and then the High Council is allowed to decide for the others?

  5. Sega Master System Retroachievements Playlist - xml - clear logo - video

    View File

    Hi!

    this playlist has 90 games.

    here the complete list:

    https://retroachievements.org/gameList.php?c=11

They are 91 but 1 is missing, they are updating...now I have learned that ^_^

This playlist has been done by the Anonymous_ONE (thank you), we teemed up. I have rechecked and added a different naming for some roms, so I hope that it works when you'll import it. (and dont worry if you check the playlist and see missing titles, some are doubled)

You can find xml, clear logo (the same type that I have already used) and video (Used video from Nlash and uploaded by Benjam to keep an Unified style)

I'll add, soon or later, the homebrew titles...they are accepted at last...

    That's all for now

SMS Ra are very funny! Played Bank Panic and already unlocked some. I love Bank Panic!!!

  6. Hi all!

I was searching, but cannot find it, if there is a Special Theme that exalt RA. Or maybe, someone knows how to do it and can give me some advice...I never done it...(never used theme creator neither)

What I'd like to see is:

I use a different general theme BUT when I click on my Retroachievements playlist, I can see my games list (horizontal, vertical, text, that is not important) and when I stop on a game, before choosing it, the theme shows me the RA TAB and maybe a snap video, or box, or something. But what is important that shows me the RA TAB, before entering the game and clicking on TAB.

What I mean, I'd like to find a way to show directly the RA tab.

    Anyone can help?

    Regards

    ^_^

  7. First of all, thank you for your replies!!

I am very happy to expand my own point of view

    18 hours ago, Kjetter said:

So, does this mean that if, just for the sake of argument, 5 versions (subsets) of some 4gb PS2 game existed, and you wanted to have them all in your collection, then you'd have to store the full game five times for a total of 20gb? Or are these patches stackable, exchangeable, or anything like that? This question isn't really relevant to the database or anything, I'm just wondering.

You are tragically right! At this address https://retroachievements.org/gameList.php?c=12 you can find Ps1 games and you'll see 3 different SUBSET for Final Fantasy VII (sic)

    18 hours ago, Kjetter said:

But to briefly touch on what you said about "how much should be hacked". I see your point here, and I definitively don't have a neat answer for the entire question, nor any interest in trying to discuss it - as you said, that would take forever. But I don't think it's unfair to suggest that if you need a tertiary program/service in addition to console/emulator and game to even detect that a change has been made then for all intents and purposes no change has actually been made to the game. I mean, nobody has tried separating out all the old romdumps that changed data for emulation compatibility from the unaltered good dumps? They are technically hacked, and in very much the same sense as these subsets as far as I understand; the data that has been altered is inconsequential to the actual game.

And as an extension to that point, you also have all the cracked C64 games, I don't think they get thier own entries either - especially since in some cases those are the only archived versions available. But they often contain additional music, changes to the dataloading, additional menus and credits, integrated cheats, etc. All easily detectable with your eyes and ears, and clearly different than the official release.

But yeah, regardless of all of that, I don't think it's always sensible to judge everything on the same standard. Old romdumps and cracked C64 games not being separated from their "parent entry" clearly doesn't cause any issue, but - as you outlined - it does cause an issue for the subsets.

I totally agree with you. And I repeat what you are saying, for the subset it is a little different because it creates an issue, in xml and in the LB tab. It is not my wish to enter new data in the DB (I am a lazy, old man), it is to use in the best way the RA data. And I think that adding some entries (100, maybe 200 in the future) it'll not create a great problem.

    18 hours ago, Kjetter said:

So hopefully some practical solution can be found that everyone is happy with.

I hope that. At the moment I am not able to think other solution than to insert new entries. I hope someone can find this agreeable or a better solution.

    15 hours ago, Suhrvivor said:

My take is that every rom hack should be judged separately, some hacks change the game so much that the result could be considered a new game, other hacks are so minor that it can still be considered the same game. I think that the achievementes hacks enter into the second category.

No one can negate that RA patches are in the second category. But we are creating 2 different hack categories? I think it creates a very difficult way to sustain in the long period. Anyway, you cant negate that a patched rom is an hacked rom 🤣

    15 hours ago, Suhrvivor said:

My concern is that when you import games it would grab the metadata of the wrong game instead of the one you want since they're named so similarly.

That is a problem, or maybe it is THE problem. And for RA feature is a good problem. So I was thinking that for some entries....it was not a great DB problem.

We have to think if we want to make RA feature to work how it deserve or in a bad way.

Obviously, anyone wishing to answer this question should put themselves in the shoes of those who use this feature a lot.

Thank you again for your time ^_^

so these subsets or whatever, they are modified to trigger a separate set of achievements different to those linked to the unedited game?

    Yes!

    25 minutes ago, Kjetter said:

But functionally they are the same game, no actual changes has been made to the gameplay or graphics?

I can understand what you mean, and you are right. You can read info here:

    https://docs.retroachievements.org/Subsets/#what-are-subsets

What I mean, anyway, is that only if you hack that rom you can play the new RA. So, at the end, you are using an hacked rom. Not the official one.

    And we have 2 problems:

-1)exchanging complete playlists. Try to dl my playlist and add them to your launchbox, subset may disappear because they have same entry of the original game if we dont separate them (someone has suggested to create a new RA platform for example @Jakatsu)

-2)If they are on the same entry, when I click on that game I can see only the achievements of the base rom and not the subset one. Ok, you can say it is not a great problem, but why I am using a feature that I cannot completely use? I thought I should speak about how registering them... I put ~HACK~ in front or [SUBSET] to the end...I was very surprised seeing that there was a problem adding the 7 hacked roms for Ps2...

Thank you very much for your reply, I like to understand and speak ^_^

  9. Hi again,

I see that some mod are going to delete entries of SUBSET ROM, or rejecting them.

Well. Our DB accept ROM HACK. If we dont want HACK, we have to remove all from DB (SNES-NES-SMS-SMD and so on).

But if we accept them...we have to accept. You dont like these SUBSET...I am sorry, but there are people who likes them and work on them.

Maybe some of you ignore what is an rom hack. Here a simple review:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROM_hacking

And to be very clear, here what you should know:

"Once a hack is completed (or an incomplete version is deemed suitable for an interim release) it is released onto the Internet for others to play. The generally accepted way to do this is by making an unofficial patch (in IPS format or others) that can be applied to the unmodified ROM"

So, you find the SUBSET patch at this address:

    https://github.com/RetroAchievements/RAPatches

    Now:

    Dot Hack Part 1 - Infection [Subset - Book of 1000]  PS2

    Dot Hack Part 2 - Mutation [Subset - Book of 1000]  PS2

Devil May Cry 3 (USA) (Special Edition) [Subset - Bonus] PS2

Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII Subset PS2

and so on ARE ALL HACKED ROM

it is not an Alternate version/name/family/gender or what. It is an existing game that has been modified by a patch, so it is an hacked rom.

Believe me, it is not so difficult.

    Thank you

  10. OOOOOHHH

    we have the final result:

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening - Special Edition [Subset - Bonus]

    was rejected for 7- 11

Here you can see the reasons:

    image.thumb.png.aea0427e2a5afd4373f5a2d7e8c9e479.png

I want to be very clear on that. I am not interested in forcing the DB. I can use a separated entry in my OWN LB and I'll be happy. It is mine collection.

Here I am only giving something to the community, working at my best on a LB features (RA).

A subset rom is an hacked version. STOP. If we dont want hack, remove ALL of them from LB. If you allow them...ALLOW them.

Have I to fight for this stupid debate? I have to loose time producing images, with a logo on it for all?

No thank you. For me this is an hobby, a pleasure. If people cant understand that having more entries allows to enjoy RA, to exchange easily playlists...it is not MY problem.

    Changes start from us.

Before adding other entries I'll wait for a reply here, from anyone that reads this

P.S. "Not clear what this is" Ok, I hope you are joking. I have mod about 3000 entries. Very few, you can say. Yes, because for each entries I have tried to research, study and understand. If you dont know what are doing...please,dont do it ^_^

I love you all, anyway ^_^

  11. 2 hours ago, Jakatsu said:

From the moderator guidelines (Rule 3): A game should only have 1 entry per platform.

Please don't add these kind of entries to the database, they are just duplicates to existing games. You can add them to your local LB/BB, but don't clutter the Games DB with duplicates.

I think in this case the Games DB would need a separate platform entry for Retroachievements, to where these entries could then be added. Then again, if you would like to categorize those games by platform, it would still require manual work from the user to create playlists for each platform.

    Thank you for your reply!

So, you are telling me that all the hacked rom we have in our DB (nes-snes-sms-md) should be removed?

Maybe with a retroachievements platofom we should resolve. But which is the difference to add a rom to ps2 or to a retroachievements platform?

"Clutter" is an interesting word. I think I am not cluttering the DB but I am filling it with the needed data for which the RA-feature was born.

    and

I am glad you took the moderator guideline Rule 3, but we need to read to the end:

"A game should only have 1 entry per platform.

Multiple Disc games don't get entries per disc. Still 1 entry.

Special Editions only get a unique entry on the Database if the game is significantly different than the already existing entry. I.e. Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition would be two separate entries."

There is more difference between Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 Goty or from a game and his hacked rom?

  12. Playstation 1 Retroachievements Playlist - xml - clear logo - video

    View File

    Hi guys,

this playlist has 506 titles for Playstation 1

They should be 507 but I am going mad if I find what I miss!

    https://retroachievements.org/gameList.php?c=12

This playlist has been done by @TrailerVert, we teemed up. I have only rechecked all. I had some problem importing. You can read here:

if you have got same error report please.

You can find xml, clear logo (the same type that I have already used) and video (Used video from someone here to keep an Unified style)

I see that @moudrost is compiling other playlists. I am very happy with that. More people work on these lists and more we complete the actual database. And we'll make happy @Azgorath I suppose ^_^ (you asked me for other playlists, right?)

I think that could be usefull not compiling the same playlist, so, Moudrost if you want to team up, we can save some time. And I can keep on going making logo and video if you need, Moudrost.

    That's all for now

P.S. oh, I am just debating a little on the DB entry on Launchbox. I'd like having separated entry for the subset Roms. If you want to join up conversation...there are interesting things:

  13. I was looking in "my change status" TAB

It is very interesting. Some changes are accepted without problem.

    BUT moderator are fighting for:

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening - Special Edition [Subset - Bonus]

    7 approvals and 7 rejections

I'd like to ask to people that reject this game how they handle what I am asking in this topic.

I think I deserve a reply, I'd like to learn, maybe they have a better solution that I dont know.

    Please, please, please

Have you tried adding the name as an alternate to the base game rather than creating a duplicate game entry?

    Dear @LonestarK,

    thank you for your reply.

I think I should reply Yes.
I have some entry that contains more than 1 game, in additional apps and then in alternate name. (like this:

In that way can work but there is a problem that I am not able to resolve.

For example, I am checking, atm, the psx 1 list that contains 507 titles. I have to add all the games to the playlist and then check if I added all. How I check it? I click on Ps1 RetroA playlist and I check the total number on the bottom. If it is equals...I know it is correct.

You can tell me "Hey, take track on a sheet!" Right

But Retroachievements has fast update and I should take track of all my playlist and then remember what I was adding in one entry...

I think it is easier for all if I have 1entry-1Rom in that playlist. And for the future I can track all in one place only.

Then, there is a little aesthetic problem. I click on Tetris rom (arcade playlist) and it contains 2 roms (tgm2 and tgm2p) . In the Retroachievements tab I can check progress for only 1 rom.

Maybe it is a minor problem, but it is not the RA feature was released for, I suppose.

Keep in mind that I am trying to make something that is userfriendly for all.

Thank you again for your reply!

    ^_^

  15. Dear guys,

I love retroachievements! It was a great integration in our loved LB

I am adding a lot of titles that are missing in our DB and that are what I write in this topic title.

I see that moderator are accepting them but there is a good fight on each title.

And I have only updated for Ps2 now (I have made a mistake on a title and mod have, correctly, rejected it, I'll do it again).

I think I dont need to mark why we need to have these roms in our DB, but I want to do it just to clarify.

    First, there is this:

I think that Eta Prime appreciate that on the forum we exchange playlist to facilitate also who have no time to create them.

Second, I have to check if I put all the titles in the playlist, matching with Retroachievements DB and so I have to check the total number and so I need separated entry.

Third, LB cannot filter games with badge or with RA parameter ( yes, it is linked to the second), and I have to add them MANUALLY!!! (I also requested that features but none have voted. Ok.

    https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6965/posibillity-to-create-autopopulate

    https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6929/add-developper-or-publisher-filters

Fourth, if the game titles does not match, LB/BB does not show the RAchievements tab (yes, it works then, but...why I shouldn't use that TAB if I want to use a LB feature?) and not add the badge (that is not official, I know). Yes, I can do it manually...AGAIN!

If I am doing something wrong, please, please, please, help me to ease my work here. I dont like adding hundred titles to a playlist, but if II try to do something I try to do at my best. And I like having a (near) perfect playlist.

What do you think? Help me, Thank you in advance!

  16. I try

    you should create

    Platform Category AMIGA

2 platforms ADF & WhdLoad - they'll contain all the games

3 playlists under ADF and 3 playlists under Whdload (what I think it's tragic, is that you should manually add to playlist, unless you have a paramater to insert in the filter tab to search what you need to add)

    With this you have

                                                                                          |------> ADF (with your roms)  and 3 playlists

                                                                                          |

Amiga (empty, it shows only the 2 platforms)-----|

                                                                                          |

                                                                                          |------> WhdLoad (with your roms)  and 3 playlists

    But keep in mind that:

in launchbox you see in that way

in BigBox if you put a playlist under a platform you cant see roms under the platform but only under the playlist. So it'll show ADF and when you click on it, it'll show you 3 playlists

    I hope it helps

  17. Hi all,

I am adding playlist xml files to my LB that comes from other guys. We are working toghter to make new playlists so we exchange each other to check titles.

Anyway, I have added a new xml file. LB closed. Then I'll launch LB and I find the playlist added. Good.

Then I check titles to see what I miss and I have noticed that LB have removed some titles from xml. If I look the files (I have a copy of course) before adding it, it contains all the titles, when I have added it, LB have removed somes titles.

Which titles? All the titles that refere to Subset  of existing roms.

    For example:

    Ps1

    in the list I have

    Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3

    and

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 Subset - Single Run

    Here the xml
    <GameId>dea9e231-47bf-4eb9-bd48-dab138f07e65</GameId>

    <LaunchBoxDbId>11667</LaunchBoxDbId>

    <GameTitle>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3</GameTitle>

    <GameFileName>Tony Hawk_-_s Pro Skater 3 (USA).7z</GameFileName>

    <GamePlatform>Sony Playstation</GamePlatform>

    <ManualOrder>-1</ManualOrder>

    </PlaylistGame>

    -<PlaylistGame>

    <GameId>24496923-30a6-462b-b5fd-a3a03d7f062b</GameId>

    <LaunchBoxDbId>11667</LaunchBoxDbId>

    <GameTitle>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 [Subset - Single Run] (USA)</GameTitle>

    <GameFileName>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 [Subset - Single Run] (USA).zip</GameFileName>

    <GamePlatform>Sony Playstation</GamePlatform>

    <ManualOrder>-1</ManualOrder>

I was thinking that could be the same ID, but I have created some playlists and uploaded on the forum and none reported me this.

Have I some option to check? What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you!

upload what they want to the database.

I think we should start from here. What I have to upload? I play Retroachievements, I love it!
I need a separate entry for Ps2 NFSU Most Wanted DEMO. I need it. But I think that all people that play that game, need that entry.

DB also is missing the Subset Rom in ps2...I was going to upload them...Can I do it? Everyone that want to play RA...need a separated entry and need also that the name match with RA name.

So, we should merge or we should non-merge titles? Finding a line I think it is impossible. So, we need a change.

We should choice, for example when importing, if merge or non merge same title but different versions. Yes, I think that multiple entries is the right way.

    Hi all!
I like to share what I have done for myself

You can find a playlist with 184 titles. At the moment they are 185 but I am not able to find Simple 2000 series Vol 116

you can find a simple logo and then I brutally copied an awesome video that was just uploaded recently in the forum and added the logo. If anyone thinks that it is a bad abit, I'll delete it. But I am not able to produce such good video.

    Have fun!

    I love retroachievements!
