Any way to launch another program from launchbox, eg plex, kodi, etc

I was thinking about replacing the windows shell with launchbox, is there any way to launch other programs such as plex from within launchbox?

Hi @wraslor, absolutely. You can launch whatever you want from LaunchBox. Just put the application startup EXE in the Application Path. Be sure to leave everything else at the defaults (don't check Use DOSBox, emulation, etc.).

How do I get it to show up in the platforms area? I added plex but it showed up under all platforms in the middle of all my games

@wraslor when you add it like you add a game make sure you type the name of the platform you want and it will show in that alphabetic order see image If you want it to show on the top of the platform list put a 1. before Plex

Well, what you could do is create a platform called "Programs" and then put Plex in there, along with your other programs. Or, you could create a Game with "Plex" as the platform and "Open Plex" as the name of the game I suppose...

Or if using a seperate partition on your harddrive or seperate harddrive for media plex, films, music etc you could install a previous version of LaunchBox ie:4.9 on that partition harddrive and use that for all your media then create a shortcut to that version and add that shortcut to newest version of LaunchBox ie launching LaunchBox from LaunchBox or even Bigbox only thing you need to do is to rename that shortcut to something else like mediabox or what ever name you like.

I know this is 4 years old, but I cannot follow the instructions give here. I would like to launch the Plex application from BigBox and was hoping someone could explain how this can be done?

The process is just to make a new game, call it Plex, and then point the Application Startup field to plex's URL.

Drag the shortcut onto the Launchbox window to start the import wizard, choose the "none of the above" option so that it is not associated with a emulator and name the platform the shortcut is to go into.
