spektor56 Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 Would be cool if guides for the games could be uploaded (ex nintendo power). https://www.retromags.com/magazines/category/usa/nintendo-power/?sort_col=field_20&sort_order=asc&per_page=24#.V1HmdPkrJhE Quote
SentaiBrad Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Well for the same reason we don't provide links or downloads to games or BIOS, it would be the same idea here. I even see some times get DMCA takedowns for them uploading guides or older magezines. I agree it would be fantastic, but to stay safe saddly that's not something we would be able to do, I'm sorry. I do have a love and appreciation for guides though. I remember using the crap out of my original Ocarina of Time guide for the N64. Quote
spektor56 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 you already upload box art and logos from games, don't see how this is any different really. (copyright law applies in both cases) Quote
Clads92 Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Hey just a little question about magazine, I understand we can't upload them, but how can I import them on a category in Launchbox Maybe create a platform "magazine" with soda reader as emulator ? Thank you Quote
DOS76 Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 You can definitely do so it basically as simple as you described to add any media to LB you just won't get any images or data for it because it isn't designed to scrape for anything but games. Quote
Clads92 Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Thx for reply, so it's like HyperSpin Must learn to find how to generate a cover with the first PDF's page Quote
DOS76 Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Yeah if Jason could add thumbnail support for pdf. cbr and cbz files that would be awesome that would allow you to automatically get covers for comic books and anything PDF Quote
Clads92 Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 @Jason Carr If you hear us this will be awesome Quote
SentaiBrad Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 If it's a magazine that you want specifically tied to a game, either for articles or walkthrough's, you can also use the Additional Apps feature. It wont be as easy as just importing the entire set like roms, but it will be more customized and specific. Quote
Clads92 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Thank you for the reply but I talk about entire magazine «Nintendo Player» or «PlayStation Magazine» but the video is interesting ! Quote
SentaiBrad Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I know what you're talking about, and Additional Applications still apply. As long as you have default programs set up, you can add anything you want. So say you add the mag as the "application", set a name, right click the game and it should be there. If your default programs is set up, it will launch with the program you set it to launch with. If not, you can add the full path to the application as a default command line parameter and it should launch a custom program. If I recall, this is a situation I highlighted in the tutorial as well.
