Deleting a rom and all associated media?

Hi @Gangor

To also delete the game from your computer when you delete it from LaunchBox, go to Tools, Options and enable the Allow Deleting ROMs when deleting games tickbox.
This has limitations. For example if you have an arcade game that uses a game rom and a CHD, this will only delete the working rom, the CHD will be left.

You can also use LaunchBox to delete certain media associated with the deleted game. Go to Tools and click on Clean Up Images. This will delete associated game images such as box front, back, and so on. It will not delete a video or manual.

There's no need to use the Clean Up Images every time you delete a game. When you do use it it will remove all images for all games that have been deleted (are not present anymore) over a period of time.

When a user wants to go through a large set of rom files recently imported to clean our ones they don't want, to delete the media then delete the file manually, takes a very long time, which is why partly the function exists. When you do this, it is sometimes accidental to get click happy when going through 100's - 1000's roms.

Wow, it was just a suggestion that is just 1-2 lines of code to send it to the recycle bin instead of permanently deleting. Didn't expect to be shot down in flames ;) Anyhow, got to get back to house clean the roms...

I totally agree with you! Or implement a function/tool that removes roms not listed in the library from the selected platform at least. Not that the "spare" rom's in the games folder take up much space or anything, but it would be great to have it as clean as possible!

I am just double-checking it does video as most other things I've read have said it does not delete videos too, but that info is also a year older than this thread.

Thanks

With regard to the recycle bin, would it be easier to move them to a ROM BIN folder like Radarr & Sonarr do, if I delete a film, it can move it to a folder for review, as stated it should not be necessary, just trying to think of ways that work for all users :)

My solution is I keep a copy of all my games in separate folder on my hard drive. When I add an emulator, I copy the games folder. That way if I make a mistake, I can retrieve the game from the original folder.

Yep that's one way, but seriously, it would take the dev 2 seconds to move it to the recycle bin rather than destroy the files completely. And if he is using C# like I think he is, then its literally changing one line of code to make it a lot more user friendly
