Arcade Playlists Missing Games

I know there are workarounds for this, but does anyone know if this is being tracked as a bug? I'd rather not import a bunch of non working games just to fully populate playlists. Right now the biggest one I'm missing is Arcade Classics.

I imported using a full mame 0.202 split set.

The team does not see this as a bug since they are specifically connecting the ARCADE Platform with the MAME Emulator, enough though no other platforms import is based on a specific emulator.

Sorry, I'm trying to understand the last part of your statement. If this is not a bug, what are we all doing wrong? Or is it expected that in order to fully populate playlists you have to take the bad with the good, so to speak?

You do not have to import a bunch of non-working games in order to fully populate playlists. I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but it definitely sounds like you're missing something.

The MAME arcade full-set importer does specifically allow you to not import broken games. That's really the whole point of the importer. It allows you to skip broken games, casino games, etc.

The new arcade playlists use auto-filtering instead of the previous game lists to build them out. So if you have the updated playlists, there shouldn't be any such thing as missing games.

What we need is a feature update, remove the radio button that says don’t import nonworking ROMs, and just have a larger checkbox filter list where it says don’t import mature and don’t import Tabletop, etc... also have a don’t import Niamo, model2, model3, etc..

...this already exists if you use the MAME full-set importer. Similar features are also available while importing standard ROMs for MAME.

I guess maybe I'm missing the new arcade playlists? Would those be installed with Launchbox or would I need to acquire them elsewhere?

You can delete your current arcade playlists and then go to Tools > Create Missing Arcade/MAME Playlists. As long as you have the latest versions, that'll do it.

I only just recently installed Launchbox, have they updated them in the past week or so? I'll give it a shot regardless.

The importer considers model3 niamo and other ROMs broken because they do not work in mame emulator, but they do work in demul and others, that’s what I’m getting at. So now you have to import broken ROMs which also include hardware sound cards and other weird things, even if you have checked to not import Mechanical

Okay, I think I maybe see what you guys are saying. An auto-playlist does not exist in LaunchBox for Sega Model 3 (for example), because MAME doesn't work with Sega Model 3 games. If you want Sega Model 3 in your collection, currently you should create a Sega Model 3 platform, import games to it, and select an appropriate emulator.

As for Arcade Classics, you can simply use the Arcade platform.

I don't know what's going on, but something isn't clear. What do you mean by "I'd rather not import a bunch of non working games just to fully populate playlists"? Do you mean that you're missing playlists?

I believe I'm only missing the arcade classics playlist, maybe it was removed at some point? I have 39, and best I can tell there are at least 40?

Others in this thread, admitedly a while ago, mentioned playlists are missing games, I haven't gotten that far yet.

Playlists aren't missing games, period. Previously they were in older builds, but the new playlists have it all covered. What list are you comparing to?

I think we’re using Arcade generally where it should be MAME instead.

i see Arcade as all of these games where it’s actually just games that work with MAME.

Yeah, I see what you mean. You can import Sega Model 3 to the Arcade platform if you want, and set up a playlist manually, but it's certainly easier just to create a new platform.

There was a list of playlists posted earlier in the thread, I haven't come across an official list

Whatever list you're comparing to apparently isn't a list of what's available in LaunchBox. All playlists are created when you use the Create Missing MAME/Arcade playlists tool. You don't have to worry about anything being missing.

I pulled up the hyperlist Sega Model 2 database (https://hyperlist.hyperspin-fe.com/)

Their total shows 66 games. My full 0.198 import shows 34.

I haven't cross-checked the entire list yet, but using Daytona as an example, their list has 8 versions.

image.thumb.png.9c42b8a24ab1c67aabc99d5f72f19680.pngMy LaunchBox entry shows the 4 versions, missing daytonat, daytonata, daytonagtx, and daytonam, all of which are in the MAME full set.
