Troubles with arcade(cps1, cps2, etc)

Hello Launchers,

I've been having trouble getting Emulators to work properly(mame retroarch and others of the like)
As soon as I launch a game in launchbox I get a "iniatializing" followed by a black screen pop up that immediately crashes, I'm mainly trying to get Capcom play system games to work at the moment.

All my other emulators seem to work fine, i've tried these emulators with launchbox on multiple pc's and set-ups but nothing seems to boot.
Currently i'm on all the current patches for all software, drivers etc so I have no clue on what I'm doing wrong, i've also checked out the YouTube Tutorials on the LaunchBox channel.

If anyone is really feeling fancy and could possibly link me to their completely configured mame files (with working roms  I guess)  That would be very nice.
Again, all of my other emulators are working fine and without any issue's. It's just these arcade emulators I'm really having trouble with so any help is apreciated.

When you went through the import process with MAME did you allow LB to move or copy your ROMs if you did then you have to set the directory location in the MAME.ini file as its only looking for the game in the ROMs folder in your root MAME directory by default.

Nope, I just let all the roms in the Rom folder where I keep all mame files. As for Lb, I always select it to keep the games in their default directory to avoid confusion.

Have you tried the games in mame without LB? It sounds like you haven't set the roms folder in mame to the one where they are stored.

How do I go about doing that, the whole mame UI is very unwelcomming and confusing to me for whatever reason.

Open MAME. Go into configure options, then configure directories, then select roms. Go to the folder with the roms in and press tab to select it. Then select previous menu until you get to the general settings and select save configuration. You can tell if its done right by selecting the "available" option in the left side menu, if they show up in there then its seeing the roms. If not make sure you selected the right folder. Alternatively you can put your roms into a folder called roms inside the mame folder which is where it looks for them by default.

Did that, but a lot of games are still just crashing in launchbox. All roms come from the same exact download. Why is this such a pain.

Are you sure you have the right version roms for your version of mame? Also what type of romset do you have? With merged and split you need the parent rom for other version of the same game to work, often thats the japanese one.

I downloaded this rompack.
And i'm on the latest version of mame I could find on the website.

removed link to roms, as it's not allowed on the forums.

I think those roms are just massively out of date. The same games in their seperate MAME roms section are newer but still a few versions out of date now. Unlike with other emulators MAME emulator and ROM versions have to match. The more out of date one is from the other the more problems arise.

Hmm, so where would I be able to find up to date roms for Mame? I'd love to have a complete library of Cps1 2 and 3.
I usually get all I need from (website names removed) but those sites don't really update regulairy I guess.
