dmaker
Is it possible to take all role-playing games and have them listed as a platform so that I don't have to jump around between the views? I think that would be pretty awesome. Thanks
Lordmonkus
While it may not be precisely how you want it you can create / generate a playlist and have it showing in the platform category of your choosing. Beyond that though right now you cannot have it be a sub category of a platform (eg: Super Nintendo > RPGS). This is something I have been bugging @Jason Carr to implement for a while, hopefully we will get it soon.
dmaker
Sorry, I'm not sure we're on the same page. If we are, I apologize for the further confusion. What I would like to see is like this: Platforms>Genesis >NES >SNES >Custom Platform (all games from all platforms that match "Role-Playing") Is that what you understood me to be asking for? Retro808
I think how LordMonkus described would still be the only way to make a genre platform that would include games of a certain genre from all systems. You would have to make a custom playlist called "Role-Playing", set it up to include all the games you want, then make sure in the Edit playlist screen to check the field to "Include this Playlist in Platforms Lists". Then you would have: Platforms> Genesis SNES Arcade Role-Playing (and this would list all RP games for all systems - per the specs you set up in you custom playlist)
Lordmonkus
1 hour ago, dmaker said: Is that what you understood me to be asking for? Yeah, that's how I understood it. If that is how you want to do it then that is easy enough to do right now and if you wanted a little bit of separation create a category called Playlists (or whatever you want) and then put all your custom playlists in that category. What I am looking to see implemented is something like: Platforms> Genesis> RPG Action SNES> RPG Action

dmaker
I think I get it now. It's too bad, I was hoping I could save myself the trouble of playlisting each game and just make a playlist of out of a genre in a few clicks and then have that playlist appear under Platforms. Oh, nevermind. Was easier than I thought. I just held down the shift key and quickly selected all games in the Role-Playing category and added them to a playlist. Easy peasy! Retro808
Yeah, playlists are pretty easy. You can also have the playlist auto-populate any time you create a new playlist or if you want an existing playlist to add games to it any time you upload new games. Just right click the playlist and edit. There is a tab for auto-populate. You can have it auto by name, series, genre and so on. A whole slew of options are there.
