mthompson239
Currently have a arcade mame cabinet I built. Lately I have been thinking of redoing it a bit to go from the small 19" square screen to a spare 50" Plasma screen that hasnt been touching in more than 2yrs. What I am thinking is, a rotatable mount to meet the needs of arcade as well as pinball. Now onto my question, since there will be no DMD (I believe its called) or marquee...all this data needs to be present in the main/only monitor used. So with that being said, which pinball emulator would be the best choice as well as most accessible tables. -BigBox V8.
alnyden
Personally I'd vote for Pinball Arcade. Every table is well designed and the playfield looks good in vertical orientation. (Only negative being it's not easy to launch specific tables directly from BigBox). Future Pinball is a lot more work to setup and I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. mthompson239
Well I have ditched the rotating monitor idea and ended up going with Pinball FX3 via Steam for at least 1 of my pinball solutions to start.

So, how does the Pinball FX3 look? Any pictures?
nathanddrews
I have my plasma on a rotating mount to change between landscape and portrait mode for vertical games/pinball. http://a.co/5kx0xBN

That looks very cool. How well does that play, and what is the lag like? Or does the lag have more to do with the keyboard encoder that you're using... If you are using one I suppose. I guess you could be using a controller.

I'm struggling on a rotating build. do you have a part list and perhaps a little how-to on your build ? perhaps pictures of the back to show of the actual mechanism ? that would be so awesome! I included a link above to the mount I use from amazon. Otherwise, I have a thread in the Builds subforum with details about the rest of the setup. The only extra setup required is configuring games to run in portrait mode. PinballFX has a specific mode that needs to be activated by contacting the developer. MAME can do it on a per-game basis. Likewise other PC games like Ikagura can be set up for portrait mode. Latency for pinball is like everything else, it depends on your display, software, and controllers. Mine feels fine, but I'm not a hardcore pinballer. Edited July 24, 2018 by nathanddrews

alnyden
I use this one to switch between horizontal and vertical. It attaches to the back of my cabinet. I pull the monitor out slightly, then rotate. Works great! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MIBN16O/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=
