Hey guys,

Refer to this topic about creating dynamic auto-populated playlists. In there you will have the steps to create them, and you can select the value "Star Rating".

That's good to know and when I get some time I'll get around to it. I think the issue is more that there shouldn't be a need to go through all that just to sort the list of games in the gameview. There should be a sorting option by default.

Hopefully BigBox will get these at some point.  Jason is focusing on development of Launchbox Next and then the poll items. He has a pretty big list of things he is looking to tackle.

In case anyone did not know LB does have this feature.

In Launchbox under Tools >Options>Search there is a check box to "Use community ratings when filtering and arranging by Star Rating". Also includes an option to specify the minimum number of community rating.

Then under "Arrange By" in Launchbox you will see Star Rating option.

Additionally, In "List View" there are columns for "Star Rating", "Community Star Rating", and "Community Star Rating Count" that you can arrange by.

Maybe it's just me, but I did find it odd that the default minimum votes was set to 6. There are a few consoles that don't have many votes on games (Amiga there are tons) that don't get arranged unless someone finds this option. I would think default would be 1 so they all get arranged, then the user could set it higher if they so choose.

I think the point of not setting it to 1 is to get some type of average. Personally, I would hate to have someone to come along and randomly rate games 5 stars that are junk games and with just the 1 rating those games get ordered at the top of my list if sorted by highest rating.

I'm Dredging this topic from the deep, as I can't find an answer anywhere else...

How do I sort by community rating in BigBox? When someone clicks into a playlist, they expect to see bangers like Mario 3, not a bunch of chaff and also-rans! I'm sick of shit like 1-on-1 Majhong-Blitz and Aardvark-AssBlasters topping my lists! The obvious solution is to sort by community rating (although I'd also like to be able to sort by release date if possible). How do I do it?

If this isn't an official feature, is there like an .ini I can edit to make it happen or something? I really don't want to make lists that pare everything down just 4 stars and up.

Elsewise, does anyone know if HyperSpin has this feature?

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I found this comment funny, because that exactly what someone did with a bunch of junk Casino games.  1 vote total, 5 star rating.  I promptly deleted those "games" from my list.

And there should be a filter or something for BigBox.  Like, don't show games that are 1 star or less.  Having to make a playlist for every little thing gets old.

In LaunchBox, go into Options and head to Data > Search. Make sure the option to use Community Star Ratings is turned on, and then you'll notice a number underneath. If a game has under that number in votes, it shouldn't show up in dynamic playlists and the like. This means that the casino games with only 1 vote would be ignored. I think the default number is 5 votes, but you can change it to your liking.

Interesting.   I didn't know about that.   But this approach would require turning every 'Platform' into a 'Playlist' essentially.  Not that I'm against that, it just seems a little counter-intuitive, and then having BigBox show/default to Playlists.
