MAME not working

You can generate one using the command line

mame64.exe -cc

I remember having to actually start the program up,and save the settings from within MAME,in order for it to create the ini file

That probably works as well, I have just been in the habit for a long time now of generating the ini file as the first thing I do with a new version of Mame.

yeah either doing it from the command line or from the UI will get you the same end results.

Ok so I created the mame.ini file and edited it to skip the game info screen some games dont play saying "there are known problems with this machine" but im happy I got a step further and learned  . Thx for the help LordMunkus

This is normal unless you get a "No Nag" build of Mame.
