launch box with Altirra Emulator ( Atari 8 bit )

might be a dumb Question,   will Launchbox work with Altirra Emulator,  i do not seem to see it in the list of Emulators ? ( for Atari 8 bits )

I do not see why it would not (if it accepts command line operations it will for sure work). LaunchBox is pretty emulator agnostic as it is said often. You are not stuck to what is in the drop down list. Just manually add the emulator. The drop down box is also a free form text field so you can call the emulator what you want.

Altirra doesn't require any special command line in Launchbox and should just run the games directly even if they're compressed. As an option though, you can add "/f" (remove the quotes) to the default command-line parameters if you want the games to open full screen.

Got it to i have to figure out which cartridge mapper goes with each game

Not completely sure, but I think Altirra automatically detects the mappers with the latest version

Altirra's does have a compatibility database function but at least from what I could tell was only for 5200 carts (been awhile so may be wrong).  But here are some tools to figure out the header type:

There is also this html file for drag and drop of rom to add header but it isn't always 100% (i.e., may show two types and have to figure which one).

With some google-fu there are also some "car" extension rom packs with headers already applied floating about.
