Johnny T
Hi all, I'm trying to curate my list of Atari 2600 ROMs. I've been through and deleted some of the ROMs. I "Scan for Removed ROMs" and it finds a list that I've deleted and I tell it to remove them. I then scan for removed ROMs again and it doesn't find anything... so far so good.... However, if I power LB off and then go back the next day and "scan for removed roms" again, it finds a load more ( nearly 100 of them!!). Do I need to somehow 'refresh' the cache or something after it has 'removed roms' ?? Thanks PS... Not sure if it's relevant but I have "Allow deleting ROMs when deleting games" ticked - although I'm not sure that's relevant if it's just removing 'removed ROMs' as, presumably, it should just be updating the xml file for that system?? faeran
Hi @Johnny T, I'm assuming that you've imported the folder of your Atari 2600 ROMs. Is this something that has happened to you consistently, or just once? Were you able to tell whether it's finding the exact same games again that it needed to remove?

It's happening all the time with Atari 2600 roms - I'm just working on curating that system so I've not tried it with other systems yet. I'm busy experimenting with it at the moment to try and make a pattern out of the behaviour. I'll post back if I come up with something. Thanks ? C-Beats
Hey @Johnny T could you take a look in your \\LaunchBox\Data\ folder and tell me if you have any sort of backup files in there? We typically get these type of reports when users have extra data files in that folder that don't really belong there. If you're not sure feel free to PM me a screenshot.

Johnny T
Removing the Atari 2600 backup.xml seems to have sorted it I think!! A big thanks to Faeran and C-Beats for your help guys!! Very much appreciated. Hopefully that will be it sorted now. I've deleted a couple of other *backup files I found in the Data/Platforms/ folder too... Thanks again
C-Beats
Not a problem you're not the first person I've seen with that issue. Do you know off hand how those files got in there? I'd be curious if we can find a common cause that we could potentially see about fixing or improving.

I've been doing a lot of work on making a script that easily shows me which games I'm missing (and various other things ...) maybe it was a file I created many moons ago?? Can't say for sure
neil9000
Its skraper usually.
Retro808
@C-Beats We tend to see two common reasons for this. One is more often the culprit over the other. 1. People using Skraper. It has a backup feature that only has 3 options (Off, Backup Existing XAML then Update, or Edit original Xaml with no backup). It does not allow the user to specify the backup location. If it did, Skraper would cause less issues as you would be able to have it place the backup outside the \Data folders. 2. User manually creates the backup. Number 1 is typically the most common culprit we see.
Johnny T
I have used Skraper briefly a loooong time ago so it *could* be that. I'll just set up a quick file check for *backup* files in my tool and alert me if they come back. Thanks again
C-Beats
Thanks for that, I had my suspicions but was looking to confirm.
