I've been using kega to emulate sega games.  I'm now using bigbox and after launching kega in fullscreen there is no way to back out to games menu.  What's the next best standalone sega emulator that works good with bigbox. I don't want to bother with retroarch. Thanks for any advice.

I use mednafen for NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, Master system, genesis, playstation 1, sega cd, and sega saturn.  I love it.  Especially being able to re-map controls on screen, on the fly.  (ALT+Shift+1 for player 1).

I've never used that emulator... but are you sure?

"In addition to supporting uncompressed games, Mednafen supports loading games from several different compressed file formats. For non-CD games, Mednafen supports loading from naked gzip- and Zstandard-compressed files, and ZIP archives."

I don't use Kega for my Sega games but I still have it as an alternate emulator in LB. Launches fine and exits back to LB with exit key.

If Retroarch with the GenesisGX core is not an option for whatever reason my suggestion for an alternative Genesis emulator I would suggest Mame, it's fantastic.

Dear god why ? Just use Snes9x for SNES and for NES use Mesen or puNES, both are far better NES emulators.

Well I gave one reason why in my comment.  I just really enjoy the way it runs. I also like the easy way to keymap the save states with rocketlauncher, and how it works with the bezel feature. I've never been a fan of retroarch and its interface.  I only use RA for a few handhelds that I can't emulate with other programs.  It's also nice to emulate all those systems with just that one emulator.  Been running smooth for years now.  No need for me to re-visit the setup just yet.

Ya it won't load zip files. If I unzip then it will load .gen file.

I honestly wouldn't really worry about the compression space savings on such small files like genesis roms.  Just unzip them and run the individual files.
