Just in case you don't want to wait for me, any new changes will also be reflected in the changelog in the app and on the website 😉

For me, it seems like the Launchbox startup notes are always a bit out of date.

Sounds like you might be confusing the welcome screen vs. the changelog under Menu > Help > Changelog

When we import a game, if we select Retroarch as the emulator, it lets us select the core to run it with, but when we edit a game, if we select Retroarch, it doesn't let us select the core.

This is useful if we want to put a game with a specific core within the same platform. Now we can only do it via the command line.

I'm having issues with the current beta with the arrange by section.  No matter what I choose to sort by, it remains in alphabetical order.  I can go in an out of options and suddenly it changes to whatever I want to arrange by, but the minute I switch to another platform or edit metadata for a game, it goes back to its default in alphabetical order again.  The only fix I can find is go to the options and click okay every single time to get it to sort the way I want, but those changes are reverted the instant I go to another platform or make any changes of any kind.  I appreciate if this can be looked into.  Thank you!

Can you confirm what theme/view you are using? If it's what I suspect this likely isn't an issue related to the beta.

@erling1000 It still expands the column, this fix is for example you dragged Genres to the left next to Title it wont jump back after editing a game (i think i don't really use list view).

I did notice if you pull the second column to the left a little it won't expand the first column when you scroll (until you close Launchbox), but i agree it should be fixed as default.

Thanks for info 😊 yeah it should by default be fixed column size not expanding. I guess dev’s mostly use Big Box, so they does ‘t notice? 👍🏼

I honestly can't remember the last time I opened Big Box for personal reasons. I live pretty exclusively in the LB app. I just don't utilize the datagrid view ever. If you just want a fixed column size it's pretty easy to alter that in the theme XAML. Something like that is so subjective to each individual user we'd never be able to make everyone happy. We have the theming engine to allow for really minute granular changes like that so at least users have a possible way of changing things that a global setting would be hard to enforce/implement.

Beta 4 is out with the following fixes:

  • Fixed: Secondary platforms under Associated Platforms will now correctly respect M3U checkbox settings
  • Fixed: A rare issue where specific custom themes could incorrectly sort games when using Arrange By options

Maybe I'm not understanding how its supposed to work, but the "Import Roms - Multiple Platforms" doesn't appear to work in the current Beta 4.  (never tried it before).

It never gives the option to align "imported thing" (rom/folder) to "platform"

Should it?

Omni Theme with List View is the one I'm currently using.  I absolutely love this theme as it shows RetroAchievement progress as a percentage per title.  I apologize if it's not related to the beta.  I know I've sorted differently in the past, but starting using this app again recently.  I may have been using a different theme before but couldn't remember.

Beta 4 is, for some reason, crashing halfway through the update and even during a clean installation while beta 3 installs fine.

Try to go into your LaunchBox\Updates folder and delete any beta files and try to download it again.

It happens on the page directly after you choose your root folder. However, I'd love to hear what you feel is missing from that page.

This definitely was specific to Omni, but it should be fixed using beta 4.

I can confirm after updating to Beta 4 that Omni now sorts correctly again.  Thank you so much for your timely response and help!

What I did:

Import Multiple Roms (next)

Selected three folders - NES, SNES, PS1 (next)

This page was blank.  No options.  Nothing to choose.  (next)

This was the media download page.  I canceled out at point.

In the single rom workflow - You choose folder(s), then next page you associate a platform.

for multiple, I was expecting you'd choose folder(s), then the next page you'd have a grid with the folders (or individual files), a drop down for each to associate a platform, and then a third drop down option for "scrape as"

@faeran

It might be something with my file structure.   I did it again, but this time just choose "NES" (under NES I have separate folders for each region).  This time it had the expected page with 'folder to platform' alignment (however, no dropdown choices, manual entry only).

Is it intended to only select a single root level folder?
