About This File

These are CTC theme/template files you can use and modify to your heart's content to generate custom marquee images with the amazing Community Theme Creator. The results will depend to what media you have gathered for your games.

======HOW TO USE======

1. Download and Install CTC (Community Theme Creator) 2.5 or above: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/2115-community-theme-creator-for-bigbox/

2. Install the template to the "My Theme Projects" directory in the Community Theme Creator directory.

3. Select the template in CTC, click Modifier "View" and select "Custom images" most right icon underneath "Modifiers".

4. Click "Edit Custom Image" if you want to change anything.

5. Go to Menu > Render Custom Images > Uncheck! "Save Games Images using Database ID" if you like to use game titles as file names instead of database numbered file names.

6. Pick your render selection: "All Games", "All Games for Selected Platform" or "Selected Game"

7. Once rendered go to "\My Theme Projects\[name of template used]\Custom Images\Custom Images 1\Games" here you'll find the render results in their platform named directories.

8. To use these images as marquees in Big Box move the images to it's sub directories inside Launchbox\Images\[platform name]\Arcade - Marquee\

9. Enjoy! and don't forget to thank @y2guru for his amazing software that makes all of this possible.

Tip: CTC can only export in .png format which has a larger file size than .jpg. The marquees generated in 21:9 for example are around 5mb large each, if you need to save space on your disc you'll probably want to use an image batch converter to convert them to .jpg.

Is there an easy way to scale to marquee size of 1280x390 without manually needing to rescale and move each element after changing the canvas size?

My guess is it's easiest just to batch resize after rendering the images at the current resolution of 4K.

Not that I know of, yeah I think batching them would be the fastest way.

The marquee displays for me, but the background image does not. It's there with the actual generation and it's in the actual image, but when the image displays on my separate marquee monitor, everything EXCEPT the background image shows up, and instead it's just a black background. What am I doing wrong here?

Thats strange. Have you correctly followed the instructions and moved the images out of the CTC folders to the correct arcade marquee folder? The reason I ask is when the images are correctly generated it would be impossible for the background not showing in LB/BB as the image is one merged file.

This is sooooo frickin' cool.  Nice setup. simple, and works.  This type of stuff makes me really want to get started building an actual arcade cab now. is 21:9 a pretty standard ratio for marquee monitors? Also, any relatively inexpensive options that you would recommend?

Thanks :) I use an 21:9 LG Ultrawide, was around 175 bucks back then, great picture.

Is there any chance you could make a version of this that outputs at 1920x360 so they could match up with Jason's marquees that work on the pixelcade LCD ?  I tried editing the theme, but could not get certain images to ever show up, I only got about halfway through and gave up.

Its been a while that ive used this, have you set the correct resolution of the canvas and can you provide more details on which images dont show up?

Yes i changed the canvas resolution, and attempted to resize what I could down, but it was very difficult because they were then so large they were way outside of the bounds of the canvas.  For some reason arcade cabinets wouldn't show up for me.  And I changed no attributes at all other than resizing.

Here you go man, try it out. As for images not showing up I vaguely remember CTC was more strict on naming conventions than LB was but I think Dave did fix that in the end. If for some reason your cabinets still don't show can you post a screenshot of your cabinet images folder in details view so you can see the names clearly?
