Thanks Cid. Much appreciated matey ?

Thanks DV. Unfortunately that won't work. I don't want to move 'every' platform over. I just wanted to move a couple of them over. So my Platforms.xml will have duff info in it if I just copy it across. It's not a problem though... I'll just open the first install - take photos of the settings - open the new install and copy them in. Job done! Thanks for your suggestion ?

Hi all, I'm currently building a new arcade cabinet and want to start a fresh install of LB in it's honour. I've added the MAME system but would like to add a load more - some of which I already have on an existing LB installation (my old cabinet that's being replaced). I initially thought it would be a case of copying the following files/folders: /Data/Platforms/PlatformNeeded.xml /Emulators/EmulatorNeeded /Images/PlatformNeeded /Manuals/PlatformNeeded /Videos/PlatformNeeded But then I realised that I would also need to edit the /Data/Platforms.xml to add that system in. And then I wondered if there are other things I may have missed?? So... is there a tool that allows systems to be ported between LB installations? And, if not, do you know which files I need to edit? If there's a lot of files and hassle then I'll just recreate the settings in the new installation but just thought I would ask as I already have about 8 systems set up and working well on my old LB installation and it would be easier to just copy them over rather than start again on each one ?

Excellent! Simple as that!?! Thanks ?

Hi all, Just a quickie... I have the MAME Bios files but (ideally) would like to put them in a separate folder out of the normal MAME emulator and Roms folder. I can't find a directory setting in MAME for 'bios' files and I can't see in the .ini where it could be changed? Can anyone confirm if you can do this or not? Thanks ?

Hi all, @dragon57 mentioned a while ago (when I got my dynamic marquee) that he was working on a "marquee project" to create marquee's for as many games as possible. Does anyone know the status of that project? At the time (end of last year) there was nothing released but the project was full steam ahead. I just wondered if there had been any releases? I'm just building a cabinet using the dynamic marquee I got last year so would to be able to use these marquees. I've also found Mr RetroLusts excellent tool for creating our own marquees in the download section. Thanks for any news on this ?

Ahhhh... I didn't realise your script actually downloads the CHDs as well! That would be very very handy. Thanks for your efforts. Everyday, people like you make it a little bit easier for people like me ?

I think that's what I'll do - separate them out. I didn't realise you could do that but it makes perfect sense (it also really appeals to my OCD!!) ? Thanks (as always) Neil
-
Thanks Neil. I currently have them just in their own folder eg. 636jac02.chd is inside a folder called "btltryst". All these folders are inside my "Arcade" folder along with some roms. Am i correct in assuming that this is the "right" way?? Or is there a better / neater / more conventional method? Cheers John ?

Is there a 'correct' way to unzip these? What is your script does? At the moment I just have them all unzipped to their own folder? Do I need to be doing something different or is there a better way? Thanks ?

I've sent you a PM on this subject.

Sounds like a great idea (assuming it's not a major headache to implement). Would be one for Jason to add to the poll if it's do-able I think ?

Well... as promised... another update on the build. I worked on it all weekend and also had Monday as a holiday from work but didn't get very far as it was really slow and frustrating progress. I couldn't get the control panel to lift up without hitting the monitor bezel. I tried various hinges and mounting brackets so I wasted a LOT of time building and rebuilding things. I've made the control panel four bloody times so far!!! Anyhoo... getting somewhere now.... I decided to put a radius on the front of it as I think it looks nicer and it also gives you something to lift it with (the sticky-out bit). I've put a pull-out drawer in for the keyboard and mouse and made a cover for it from 6mm MDF so that it looks tidy and the wires from the buttons etc won't snag on it or inadvertently press keys etc....

I'm now third? on Toki and I'm somewhere around 6th on Frogger. Some of the top scores are amazing. Agreed that this is the an amazing USP for LB and, when word gets out, should be a massive draw for new players looking for a brilliant front end.

Next was a shelf and a bezel for the monitor. The monitor had a fixed stand with it and I actually had to jigsaw the front part of the plastic stand away to get the monitor to sit close enough to the bezel. The bezel is made out of 6mm MDF board that I got from B&Q this weekend. It's cheap but sturdy enough for the job and should look good when its painted.

Next was making a shelf for the stereo speakers to sit on. I'm going to have a small sub woofer in the base of the machine as well. I've wrapped the shelf with some audio felt stuff that they use in cars. It should stop the speakers from rattling. I've put brass hooks either side of them and an elastic band to hold them in place (I told you this wasn't a Rolls Royce!!!).

I'm going to be using an "extended LCD" as a dynamic marquee at the top. So I cut a bezel for it out of some 3mm board I found in the shed. I needed something to hold it in place so just shaped a couple of bits of gash wood I had and mounted them to the top strut so they would rotate and hold the LCD in place.

Hi all, I'm currently in the process of building my own cabinet. I built one a few years ago but there's a lot I would change about it so I decided to take the plunge and have another go. I'm hoping it's going to have a modular control panel to enable me to swap out controls to play different games (steering wheel / joysticks etc). I'll say up front that I'm not a woodworker! I do have quite a few tools as I'm a keen DIY'er but I've never been taught anything to do with woodwork (or DIY in general) so this isn't going to look anything like as good as some of the home-built cabinets you see knocking about. I thought I would put up a few photos of the progress in here in the off-chance people find it interesting and it might help someone else who's planning on having a go at it to start their own project... It's built out of 18mm MDF for the sides and visible parts and 18mm Plywood for the base / top and non-visible parts.

Yep. Had the same on Galaxians too. I'll just delete all my high scores and start again. It's no bother ?

@Jason Carr I've just sorted it now. I disconnected from the launchbox database and reconnected and synced games. Then played Frogger but still had the same problem. But it occurred to me that although I got a high score on the global rankings it wasn't a high score on my own Frogger high score table. So... Deleted my Frogger high score file and played again. Got a high score on my own table which then uploaded correctly to the global high score table. I'm guessing the code is looking for a change to the hiscore file in order to decide whether to upload or not? Anyhoo.. sorted now - thanks for everything as always ?
-
Thanks angerman... at least it's not just me ?
-
Frogger has stopped recording my high scores now :-(.
