    Good for BigBox?

I'm sure someone more knowledegable will chime in but I think the answer will depend on what games you are running. Obviously, BigBox is just a front end that will launch anything so, if all you're playing is MAME games I would say that your specs are more than enough. However, if you are planning on using BigBox to launch some of the latest PC titles then maybe the specs need beefing up a bit? At a guess, those specs would run the majority of retro games without an issue I would think (decent price too).
  2. Thanks ninja! Yep, 32" CRT is going to be massive and very heavy!! Make sure your dimensions will fit through doors etc. Quite a few people make removable control panels just so that the cab is moveable around the house. I think mine would *just* fit through the back door into the house if I took off the T-molding but I'm hoping to not have to move it for many years as it lives inside a summerhouse I put in the garden. Good luck with your project. Would be nice to post some photos when you get started. I've enjoyed building this cabinet so far. It's a lot of stress trying to get everything right but it's a nice feeling when you finally get to a stage where you can play something. ?
  3. Some superb additions there. Love the idea of making our own snaps. Will be brilliant for MFME too (fruit machine emulator) as I use laumchbox for that and you can't find snaps for the fruit machines online most of the time. Great work as always Jason. Well done ?
  4. Superb!! I was just scratching my head around the Github site with what to do. I've got that program now so I'll have a mess around with it. You're a star Neil! Thanks! PS. Sorted it now. Thanks again
  5. Wow!! There's some work gone into that!!!! Hats off to CoinJunkie and the rest of the team!!
  6. That's great Neil. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have a look and see what I can find. Worst comes to worst I'll just remove bezels altogether. It would be nice to have them though as I do like the look of them. Thanks (as always) for the great help matey. Much appreciated
  7. Hi Dos, thanks. I would have to do every one though. I did consider this but realised that I was probably reinventing the wheel and there would probably be bezel packs available to suit. It's not just Galaga. That was just the example I was using.
  8. Yours doesn't have a border at the top/bottom though Neil. That is what I was looking for May I ask where you got your bezels from? (Or even be a bit cheekier and wonder if you would consider uploading them somewhere for me?)? Cheers ?
  9. Hi Neil You're right. I'm an idiot. I've got the hard drive out of the machine at the moment and I'm currently doing some work on some of the software so can't post a photo unfortunately. This is the bezel for Galaga on my 'house' PC..... I just wondered if there were any bezels that didn't have as thick a border top/bottom (or maybe no border top/bottom)? Thanks
  10. I am setting up LB/BB on a new cabinet and thought I'd try bezels for the first time. I tried Arkanoid and Galaga and I love the fact that on Arkanoid I had the instructions at the side (i.e. what bonuses do what thing). However, due to the size of the bezel it really restricted the size of the game window. So much so that Galaga was tiny on my screen?? I'm not sure if my system is somehow squashing the screen further as well as adding a bezel (is there a setting for that anywhere??). But I also wondered if there was a MAME Bezel pack anywhere that had minimum interference with the vertical size of the game window? I've googled it and there seems to be loads of bezel packs out there for all kinds of frontends but thought I'd ask what others use and if someone could help? Thanks ?
  11. And at the weekend I finally managed to play my first game of Frogger on it!!!! Still a LOAD of work needs doing on the control panel / wiring / LEDs / software set up etc... but good to finally have a game on it after all the hard work so far ?
  12. A lot more progress over the last few weeks. Here are some more progress photos....
  13. I think it's a polite way of saying 'gobby shite' ? It's what used to be written on my school reports many many years ago ?
  14. Yep, I hope they deliver what they promise but they look great so far and the guy making them seems like one of the good guys as well. Fingers crossed.
  15. Oh well... it's not a major problem and I completely understand not bothering with it if it's a massive amount of work.
  16. Yep, I find his videos really good. Very succinct. I've ordered some of the new Sinden Lightguns for this new cabinet so will be looking forward to trying them when they arrive (hopefully Aug/Sep time). ?
  17. This is brilliant Jay. Thanks for sharing the link and the artwork etc. Much appreciated. I'm just looking at setting up a jukebox on my cabinet now. Also using this great video from Mavericks Arcade about setting up the LEDs with LEDBlinky to react to audio ( ) Cheers ?
  18. Anyone know whether this mod ever got implemented? Just started looking at setting up a jukebox in my BigBox software. Thanks ?
  19. Great advice folks. Thanks for taking the time to give me your various methods. I think I've got a handle on it now thanks to you all. Much appreciated. Cheers ?
  20. Thanks for the info DOS (I've just downloaded it now and thanked blackpudd). Are you using a split set too (just out of curiosity)? I'll give the technique a go. Sounds like you would only need to run TorrentCheck now and again anyway to do a file clean up. Really appreciate your help. It sounds like a great system and exactly what I was after. ?
  21. That's great, thanks. Space isn't an issue so I'll just stick with the split set then. Thanks again for your help ?
  22. Hi all, I have a full "split set" of MAME ROMs that I have audited with RomCenter. I'm wondering if a "merged" set is easier to maintain as I'd like to keep updating them as new updates come out. I just wondered if anyone who's OCD like me and likes the full set manages to stay on top of new updates etc? Do you use the merged set or split set? How do you cope with updated Roms etc? Any help on this would be great. PS. I do know that it's not necessary to have *all* the games and I personally have a playlist where I use LM's All Killer No Filler playlist as my 'go to' games. However, occasionally I like to dive into the unknown and just pick and play a few games I've never heard of before. ?
  23. What can I say? I'm an idiot. I checked when I read your post and I don't have one on my MFME installation. I *do* have one on my main arcade LB installation which is probably where I got muddled up??
  24. These links still work for me matey? They download and unzip correctly. I don't have one. I just enable the Exit on Escape function in the preferences of MFME matey.
  25. Yep, you gave me my first laugh of the day The sun is cracking the paving stones here in sunny Scotland so I'm having a lazy day. No jobs being done. Just chilling with my missus and then firing up the homemade cab later with a few beers. I've not played Street Fighter II for years (since it came out) and my normal goto games are Frogger, Toki, Galaxians, Tekken 3, Fighting Hawk and a few others.... however, going to have a go at it later in your honour (won't be anywhere near any high scores though I'm sure!!).
