  1. Version 1.0.0

    61 downloads

Might as well share my collection with the group! A curated set of screenshots from various sources, and a bunch captured by myself to fill in the gaps. Based on a 1G1R set with region priority of USA > Europe > Japan All images are 160x144 PNG, native resolution, checked over for any recompression artefacts Again, these are native resolution. If you want a solution to these being 'low resolution' screenshots that look blurry in some situations: Batch upscale the entire set using image editing software (I recommend using XnView MP) with a non-blurry algorithm Modify your LaunchBox or BigBox theme views so that when large images are displayed, the RenderOptions.BitmapScalingMode property is set to "NearestNeighbor" rather than "HighQuality", it'll make them look nice and sharp Let me know if there's any issues!
  2. Oh, you said over WiFi rather than ethernet... That's harder to determine, given whatever router and standards you're using, signal quality over distance, etc. Not sure, but maybe fine with 'ac' wireless or above?
  3. Assuming a standard gigabit network with no other bottlenecks, speed should be 100MB/s, so speeds and seek times faster than the original CD/DVD hardware the emulated system expects, so no issues. Quick Google on Reddit seems to suggest the same. If you're still worried, some emulators should have the option to load the entire disc locally into RAM before boot (think I've got this set for Beetle PSX, at least) or there's probably an AHK script to do a local copy before emulator launches.
  4. Might as well add a bug while I'm here, as PS1 isn't working. AllGames.xml adds data as "Sony PlayStation" (which is technically the correct capitalization for the platform), but both the default platform name and scan-as name that LB uses is "Sony Playstation" without the capital S. Mind either correcting the platform name or making the platform match case-insensitive? Thanks.
  5. Hi Joe, thanks for the plugin and the recent updates to keep it working. I just updated to the new version of the plugin - I'd manually added the RA badge to all the games that didn't get caught by the auto-match, or needed them re-adding after tweaking the item name to my preferences. All those custom adds are now gone, presumably due to the switch from directories/files to the new singular Added.xml file. Any advice for converting all those over to the new format? No worries if not, I'm sure I can figure out some batch file / text manipulation stuff! EDIT: Never mind, managed to get it figured out pretty easily. Get a list of titles, sanitize the & symbol, add them to Added.xml and rerun the updater
  6. Sure, I can provide an update! Yes, you can fit (nearly) everything Wii downwards onto an 8TB drive! These are all full Redump sets, filtered to a 1G1R state (English version preference, then Japanese) using Retool. The Japanese sets of certain platforms (PS1/PS2/Wii) are sitting on a NAS, otherwise this wouldn't fit at all. Additionally, I've had to filter out multiplatform games to a single version (usually GC/Wii > PS2 > Xbox) which saved approx. 1TB pf space, and the Xbox collection is exclusives only because you're going to get a much better experience on PS2 or GC emulation anyway. If you're interested more in the 'fitting everything on an 8TB SSD' part of this project, so here's a quick audit of disc-based collections: All of these have been converted into a compressed format such as CHD, RVZ (GC/Wii) or CSO (PSP). Xbox emulators don't support compressed formats, so they've been compressed as 7Z LZMA, then LaunchBox does the auto-extract on launch feature. 'Extras' are things like translations, undubs and selected rom hacks. 'Japan' titles marked as remote (yellow highlight) now sit on my NAS, but are still listed within my LaunchBox collection 'Dupes' are multi-platform games that I've hand-picked to keep the better emulated version. These aren't imported into LaunchBox. Removed PS2 games that also appear on GC or Wii Removed PSP games that also appear on PS2 Some red highlighted entries need to have another pass at some point...
  7. To make it clear, I'm not the original author of the theme! I'm just fixing things as the original author no longer seems to be maintaining it. If you just wanted the new default details view, you could probably copy GameDetailsView.xaml from the default theme (/LBThemes/Default/Views) into Lambda, but it wouldn't have the fanart background, or have fonts/design generally matching the rest of the theme. There's also no 'theme files' for LaunchBox themes, just the XAML data that would have to be edited by hand, or using a more professional-based WPF editor (Visual Studio, Blend, etc.). It's not like BigBox, which has the Community Theme Editor to generate the XAML files.
  8. A bug that may have been introduced in 1.27, thinking about it: Right-clicking an item in List View no longer focuses the item that was just right-clicked on Context menu will appear for whatever the existing selection was, which leads to some confusion, and used to update focus correctly in previous versions. Happens on default theme as well.
  9. Spent some time rewriting Lambda's GameDetailsView today: Brought up to spec with the latest 12.7 changes, such as the new image/video carousel and all the missing fields Info pane at the bottom is much more condensed, taking up less room on the overall height Still needs a bunch more fixes to go, but just wanted to show progress so far. For example, I've never used fanart backgrounds or MAME high score functionality, so that's something I need to investigate and test. If there's anything you really want exposed as part of the options file, let me know, but should be able to finish this up in the next week or two.
  10. Yeah, I've never really liked the game detail layout too much in Lambda, and the default revamp is the probably the kicker it needs. I was only going to compile fixes rather than making more aesthetic changes, but I'll take a look if I get some free time.
  11. Dance Dance Revolution - Pending, Second Attempt Remove references to the Japanese release from the USA database entry (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/15651) Add new entry for Japanese release, copy over any previously removed data/images This single database entry currently refers to two different games, both named 'Dance Dance Revolution', that were released separately in Japan only and USA only respectively. Wikipedia also lists these as two separate games in their master list of PS1 games, as well as having two individual pages for each game on their site: Japanese Release A port of the original (1st Mix) arcade game, released in 1999. First ever DDR game on a home console. Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Dance_Revolution_(1998_video_game)#Home_version PSXDB Entry: https://psxdatacenter.com/games/J/D/SLPM-86222.html RemyWiki (source for Bemani/DDR info): https://remywiki.com/CS_DDR_1st_JP Screenshots (Main Menu / Song Select / Gameplay UI): Video: North American Release The first home console release outside of Japan, released in 2001. Sometimes referred to as 'USA Mix' within the community to differentiate it from the Japanese PlayStation release. Game engine / interface is based on 'Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix', another Japanese-only PlayStation release that pairs with the 3rd Mix arcade game. However, the song list is unique for North America licensing, and contains a 'best of' from the three Japanese home console releases that had been released so far. Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_Stage_(video_game) PSXDB Entry: https://psxdatacenter.com/games/U/D/SLUS-01280.html RemyWiki (source for Bemani/DDR info): https://remywiki.com/CS_DDR_NA Screenshots (Main Menu / Song Select / Gameplay UI): Video: For further proof that the USA release is a different game from the Japanese game of the same name, and instead based on Japanese 3rd Mix, here's screenshots from that 3rd Mix release (video here) Thanks for reading!
  12. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: 2nd Edition Edits: Existing entry (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/12885) will become the USA version New entry will be created for the Europe version, and data/images will be resubmitted These are two different games, released with the same name: Europe version is developed by Hothouse Creations and published by Eidos Interactive, just like the first edition. USA version is developed by Jellyvision and published by Buena Vista Interactive. Although uncredited on this particular release, Jellyvision developed all USA versions of the game series, and the UI reuses elements from You Don't Know Jack, Jellyvision's other famous quiz series. Further proof of being different games with different engines, UI, etc: Europe: USA:
  13. Konami Football Games (ISS / Pro Evo / J.League) - Pending Konami tends to use each game and engine for at least two releases - A Japanese-only release with teams from J.League (will have that in the name), and an international team release with ISS / World Soccer in the name. Trying to fix some incorrect data / links between all of these, so changes I'll be submitting are the ones in red. Thanks. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EV5MyCVKfVMAZeEcond08E2opsLODMYAFdQFpuIfAkY/edit?usp=sharing
  14. I've been adding some complicated changes to untangle some mistakes in the PS1 database recently, especially where regional versions of games have been paired up incorrectly. Some of these changes may be counter to existing sources on the internet (because Wikipedia is gospel, apparently), but have been self-verified by playing the games myself. Been posting explanations on Discord, but I'll post and update some explanations here too, if anyone sees these changes and wants further info. Cheers. Victory Boxing Series - Pending Kensei - The King of Boxing (Japan) has been marked for delete, and related images have been submitted to existing entry Victory Boxing: Champion Edition (Europe). Alt. names and images for Victory Boxing Challenger (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es) have been removed from Contender 2 (USA) and replaced with info/images for Victory Boxing Contender (Europe). Victory Boxing Challenger (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es) / Victory Boxing (Japan) have been submitted as a new entry. This is all over the place, all over the internet. From playing/inspecting the games themselves as well as YouTube videos, I've found these to be the correct region pairings - Contender (USA) / Dynamite Boxing (Japan) / Victory Boxing 2 (Europe) - Contender 2 (USA) / Victory Boxing Contender (Europe) / Funky Boxers (Japan) - NO NTSC-U RELEASE / Victory Boxing Challenger (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es) / Victory Boxing (Japan) - NO NTSC-U RELEASE / Victory Boxing Champion Edition (Europe) / Kensei - The King of Boxing (Japan) The current DB pairing of Contender 2 (USA) and Victory Boxing Challenger (Europe) is incorrect. The game has the same cover art and opening FMV, but it's clear from game modes, HUD UI, etc. that these are two different games. Dec 22 Edit - These changes passed moderation, but someone has been resubmitting the removed bad alt. name pairings, which is going to lead to bad imports / matches in the future. Will keep an eye on it. Dec 31 Edit - Found the Japan version of Contender 2 / Victory Boxing Contender! Updated above. Dance Dance Revolution - Rejected, Second Attempt... Submitting more proof in a new post below, please scroll down.
  15. As the theme hasn't been getting updates, and I've been fixing things locally as new features cropped up, I may as well fork and compile the fixes for everyone else. First release here: retroNUC/lb-theme-lambda-fix (github.com) beta-fix 1.1.2a 2021-12-09 -SideBarView: Fixed missing Filter button on search bar in later versions of LaunchBox -ListContentView: Fixed column sorting for date-related fields, such as 'Release Date' and 'Last Played' -ListContentView: Fixed missing column bindings (including Badges) that were introduced in later versions of LaunchBox lb-theme-lambda-fix-1.1.2a.zip

  17. @shadowfire, thanks for the stealth update that fixes Image View with LB 12.2. Could I request that you also add two other key fixes posted in the past comments of this theme (list view date sorting / search bar filtering function)? Thanks in advance!
  18. Another comment on getting Xemu working over the last week or so - I was getting mixed compatibility when using XDVDMulleter to processing Redump ISOs. Around 10% of games wouldn't get recognised by Xemu at all, and some that did hit 'dirty disc' errors in gameplay. Compiling latest extract-xiso and using that instead fixed all of the issues I was having.
  19. All depends on whether the data to be compressed already has some kind of compression. Older generations of disc-based console games don't have much compression and tend to just be loose files, so something like LZMA (used by CHD, RVZ, etc.) tend to have a significant effect on file size. With later consoles like PS3/WiiU, consoles now have enough power to decompress files on the fly without much overhead at all, so the developers ship with compressed data on the disc (LZMA, zlib, Oodle, etc.) Any further compression won't have much effect.
  20. I've found in general that importing anything with multiple regions in the filename isn't parsed properly on import, and ends up with an empty Release field. That's probably why it's prioritising Europe when deciding on a default, because the three data fields will be "Europe", "Japan" and "blank".
  21. I think some people manually remove unnecessary files (demos, dash updates), which is why you sometimes see smaller files. Depends on the tool that was used. Conversion to XISO removes the padding (especially on Redump) but doesn't do any compression on the data. What I did was individually 7zipped each XISO, then ticked the 'extract before launching' box in LB Emulator options. Adds an (up to) 30s delay when launching a game from LB while it extracts to a temp folder, but I think it's worth it to save about 30% on overall file size. Enabling LB's built-in Game Startup screen even shows an accurate loading bar!
  22. Hey folks, happy to be contributing to the database and helping to work through the mod queue. Could I get Mod/Admin clarification on a few issues that seem to currently be on the queue? Currently a fight between two people across Fanart entries for all the games in the Need for Speed series - Person #1 is deleting all Fanart that contains logos/texts because they want to use it as a background to combine with Clear Logos, while Person #2 is getting a bit heated in the comments and adding them all back in. I assume Person #1 is in the wrong with the deletions? No rules for Fanart regarding text/logos, and if Person#1 wants to have clear logos for a particular Clear Logo / Theme combo they're using, they should just manually remove/audit any fanart on their local machine. 'Homebrew' vs 'Unlicensed' clarification - I'm presuming if a homebrew game ever got a physical release, no matter how small or limited the quantity, it should be then classified as Unlicensed instead? Or are we only classing Unlicensed as non-authorized retail games that were released during the lifespan of the console? Someone was adding some altnames for NeoGeo games that were actually two regional titles rolled into one, a-la "Fatal Fury 2 / Garou Densetsu 2". My assumption is that this shouldn't be allowed? As long as singular altnames exist for each region, it'll show up in search/filter results through a person's collection. Thanks!
  23. It's all field tags, which I think is what LB uses as well. No rush - Was gonna tackle it as a side-project of my own, but happy to use yours of it's most of the way there.
  24. Thanks for the heads up, thought they were attached locally on the forum. Fixed!
  25. The initial plan was to keep using Linux and RetroPie once I upgraded to the NUC, but ran into the age-old issue of broken Linux audio drivers, given that it's brand new hardware. After a few weeks of struggles, I switched over to Windows and the unofficial EmulationStation Win32 build so I could keep my data/setup, but ended up with more issues and poor support (fair enough, given that it's an unofficial build). Finally made the switch over to LB/BB a few weeks back, and slowly adding over platforms. I'd like to make an XML converter app between the two at some point, as I wrote a load of custom descriptions that I'd rather not have to type again!
