Archive.org Collection Sync View File Easily download/sync any collection from archive.org to your local computer. Automatically scans for any existing files and checks MD5 checksums to make sure that all downloads are correct. To download, simply paste the archive.org URL into the top field, put the destination folder into the second, and click Start. To pause/abort a running download, simply close the window. To resume that download later, re-open the app, choose the same URL and folder, and then click Start. Existing files with the correct checksum will not be re-downloaded. Requires the .NET Framework 4.7.2. Licensed under the MIT License. Yes, that is a very good point. The system probably should not have been added to begin with. We have that issue with a few Arcade platforms. I remember originally fighting to keep them out of the database, because technically they're all just Arcade. But I think ended up losing that battle way back when...and now that we have them, there'd probably be an uproar if we deleted them. Oh well lol.

LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
According to the documentation, I don't see any scoped storage changes from Android 12 to Android 13, so it shouldn't be an issue. Keep in mind that there are some issues with certain emulators on Android 11+ (ones that haven't been updated or have been updated incorrectly). Generally it doesn't matter though because RetroArch works great for most platforms and most of the other important emulators work fine. So you should be good to go (but of course I can't make any promises because ...Google). -
Bezel project option not appearing in new update
Jason Carr replied to rubberfish's topic in Troubleshooting
It will only show up if the emulator is MAME or RetroArch. -
LaunchBox OS - A Complete operating system like Steam OS
Jason Carr replied to TrexBlazeX2's topic in Features
We would love to be able to do this eventually, but it definitely hinges on being able to put out a Linux release first. That is a difficult thing in itself, though. -
Not exactly sure what you mean here. I don't believe the LaunchBox Games Database contains platforms for CPS 1, 2, and 3.

There is a known issue on some devices where large archives (pretty much any disc-based format) do not extract properly. Our apologies for this issue; it's on our list to fix. Regardless, we don't recommend extracting disc-based formats anyways, because it's bound to be a fairly slow process on Android devices. We did add a new feature to the Export to Android process on LaunchBox for Windows to optionally extract archives for you, so there's that. Beyond that, the best format to use for PS1 currently is CHD, which is a compressed format that can be read directly by the emulator.

Thanks @Opak, I have this updated for the next beta.

Issues with the Latest Firmware on Nvidia Shield TV Devices - How To Fix
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
Huh, I have quite a few platforms on my Shield without any major slowdowns. But yes, those Shield devices are definitely getting fairly long in the tooth, especially when you compare them to modern phones and tablets. -
I'm not sure why the auto-updater would be failing, but you can always just manually download the latest version and install over top if you need to. It won't overwrite any of your settings or games. Just make sure that you install to the proper folder (and not a LaunchBox\LaunchBox folder), because the installer can be slightly confusing in that regard.

OG meaning Oblivious Gorilla, of course! If the Game Bar is off, I'm baffled. Maybe I'm the oblivious gorilla lol. Thanks for sticking around and thanks for the support. It's been quite a trip, and a huge blessing, this project.

Unfortunately not currently. However, you can run another import to import anything missing, but there's nothing currently to scan for missing ROMs. What I would recommend in that case, is just to delete the platform, and not delete the media. Then reimporting it will go very quickly and pick up all of your existing media. The only issue is that you'll lose any metadata changes that you made (like favorites).

@Zkyo Thanks for the notes. It sounds like the Shield's implementation of network storage is lacking (but I guess that's no surprise considering how much of a trainwreck Nvidia's whole OS implementation has been as of late). I've added the requests to my list. The folder path doesn't really matter on Android, but still should probably be updated, so that's on the list as well. Thanks!

@Mute64 The Bezel Project integration does account for this now. It scans for rough matches based on game titles and file names. It's not perfect, but should be at least as good as our matching with the LaunchBox Games Database.
-
@isamu If you have separate platforms on each, you can just copy the data files from the LaunchBox\Data\Platforms folder together, along with any media folders.

Is there anyway to stop list view from automatically expanding column width?
Jason Carr replied to LP64's topic in Noobs
@LP64 The Big Details theme from @faeran I believe does what you're looking for. -

@CadetStimpy You sir, are an OG. It's been a while. Good to see you're still around. It does look like somehow Windows has broken itself in that regard. I think it's trying to pop up the stupid Game Bar that everyone hates. You can turn that off under Settings > Gaming in the Windows settings.

@Zkyo This is definitely something that can be improved in the Android app. In an effort to keep things fast and simple, the XML files have to be updated when media files change, unlike on the desktop. Performance would be poor if we scanned the media files themselves every time. If you have a desktop LaunchBox installation, it would best to use the export feature to do this kind of thing. I don't think there's an easy way to do it otherwise, unfortunately.

Issues with the Latest Firmware on Nvidia Shield TV Devices - How To Fix
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
Thank you for clarifying all that, and sorry for any extra complication there. I do need to review a new setup process on the Shield devices with the latest firmware, as it shouldn't require all of that, but I haven't tested the process in a while, honestly. -
Thanks, I have these in for the release. Also, the translation packs have all been updated with the release notes.
-
I don't know that there's any way possible for us to improve that situation. As great as LaunchBox for Android is, it's still victim to Android's terrible design decisions from time to time (and even worse, the terrible design decisions of one-off devices). Everything is *supposed* to work correctly the way we've coded it for Android 10. But sadly, it doesn't always, depending on the device. Unfortunately we can't make progress on issues like this if there are no available solutions.

@GrafUberwald Thanks for the feedback and notes. Admittedly, the Android app does trade some flexibility for simplicity and ease of use, which is largely what you're running into here. The reason why LaunchBox for Android doesn't use Scrape As Arcade for SNK Neo Geo MVS, is because we do actually have a separate platform for SNK Neo Geo MVS on the games database. I'm guessing it's just not as well populated as the Arcade platform that also contains those games. I do think you can probably get away with adding that to the metadata, if you make sure that LaunchBox is 100% closed before you change the XML. Android makes that tricky. You'll need to use the Exit option in the app, as well as making sure that it's not in the app tray at all (in the app switcher, swipe it away). Or, you could just reboot the device to make sure. Otherwise, exporting from the desktop app should make it so that it works to honor that setting as well.

Thanks, man, traveling always really screws me up. Totally forgot about the welcome screen changes. We're still planning on releasing today, because it's already been too long since a release. But we'll plan on putting out a fix release relatively soon.
