Thank you all, good stuff here. I'll be back to this thread here soon as we start on some of this.
-
Woot! Thank you much. I'll get these into a beta soon.
-
The above issues should hopefully be fixed guys in the beta I just put out:
-
Beta 3 is out now guys with hopeful fixes for the above issues, as well as the ability to add custom command lines for Retroarch cores again. The drop down column will handle the core selection, and you can add any extra command line options in the command line column. The dialog should properly split up your existing commands to accommodate the new columns. I will admit that I haven't tested this beta as much as usual (because it's late and I'm tired lol), so fair warning there, but I wanted to get this beta out to resolve the above issues. Let me know how it fares.
-
I assume this is with the original LaunchBox and not LaunchBox.Next? When I've seen this happen in the past it's been because of an emulator changing resolution, which causes the window to resize. I'm not sure if LaunchBox.Next is affected by the same issue, but at this point we're going to put off any issues like that until we've fully converted over.

Yeah, unfortunately the wheels will not work for the game details view. Currently the game details view only works with the text list views. Hopefully we can improve that at some point in the future, but it will admittedly probably be a while before we get there. Yeah, agreed. There should be some various themes that work decent enough, but it would be great to have a theme that's properly optimized for a traditional CRT.
-
That is very good news.
-
It would be good to know if you're having the same issue with 8.1, because then I can pinpoint where the issue might be. I have a hunch though that 8.1 won't work either, but it's just a hunch. Let me know and I can send you a link to download version 8.1. Otherwise, you might already have a copy of the 8.1 setup in your LaunchBox\Updates folder.

This can be "solved" for other users in the future by adding the name that is used in retroachievements.org to the LaunchBox Games Database as an alternate title.

Come to think of it, if you're looking to convert your Hyperspin themes, often times the best solution is to record a video of the Hyperspin theme and then it can just be used as a background video in Big Box, which works extremely well. @CriticalCid has been helping out with that stuff for a long time; let me know if that makes sense.
-
GIFs do work, but they're not exactly ideal because they can cause performance issues. Animations can actually be done directly in XAML, but naturally they're not easy. The primary focus for "flash" in Big Box has been 1080p or 4K videos, just because it's often easier to build a video and play it in the background than a custom solution of sorts. GIFs are great for small animations though, just not large ones.

Exactly. The Spanish pack that is listed there is automatically updated every time I put out a new beta or official release.
-
Killer! Check out the first few posts of this topic and feel free to get started whenever you can @Kondorito. HUGE thanks for whatever you can do.
-
Thank you @Krakerman. I know the XAML themes can be fairly daunting at first, but we're all really looking forward to your creations, of course. Hopefully we can help get you going. The best way to learn is through examples, and they're everywhere in all of the existing themes.

Depending on your tastes, if you find Visual Studio Community to be a bit overwhelming, you might like Visual Studio Code, which is also free and is more similar to a straightforward text editor.

Thank you Clive. I'll modify the first post to note that we're looking for another Spanish translator.

fix the installer's cancelling directx installation
Jason Carr replied to Elmazz's topic in Troubleshooting
Yes. The only way to check if DirectX is installed is to run that installer, which requires admin rights. I have removed that DirectX check for updates in the past, but all it did was cause us multiple headaches and end users ended up with errors that they couldn't troubleshoot because of missing DirectX libraries. So as much of a headache as it is to some people, it's staying for good. -
You can do this by selecting a bunch of games and batch editing them (right click, Edit).

I think Cid's original theme is probably the best solution for 16:9 (having the wheel fade out to reveal the rest), so I probably won't be making a version for 16:9 myself, but anyone is welcome to it.

Awesome @Krakerman. So glad to have you in the community. Yes, Visual Studio 2017 will work perfectly fine, as will Visual Studio Code, or really any text editor, though Visual Studio should make the job a little bit easier. I assume you've found the tutorials on the YouTube channel?

Don't do it again or you will be banned. What you did was unnecessary and could have been handled without throwing people under the bus. This conversation is over. -
Mod Constantly Deleting Help Requests
Jason Carr replied to shinra358's topic in Website/Forum Support
Hi @shinra358, I spoke with the moderators and apparently there was one post that was deleted because it was in the wrong spot. Honestly we have no idea what you're referring to with the other two. That said, going forward I've instructed the moderators to move threads in this case instead of deleting them. However, I would ask that you not call out any specific moderators or the moderation team like this in the future or there will be consequences. -
Sadly the API does not allow for notifications to be displayed. That would be nice but it's also quite difficult for the retroachievements.org folks to implement.
