  1. And beta 21 is out lol with fixed Gif support.
  2. On second thought, I looked into it and it was really easy fix. So yet *another* new beta is coming lol.
  3. Yes, this is a known issue. Gif images will not show up in Big Box unless used as animations for themes. I might come back to this soon, but I don't consider it to be a major issue in the mean time, as gifs are not commonly used for anything but animations (and it doesn't really make sense to do so as compared to png or jpg images).
  4. Alright lol, one last new beta is out that finally fixes the video issue that @LukeArio was having; it was apparently related to gif images, believe it or not. We're good to go for release tomorrow as far as I can tell.
  5. So! Thanks to @LukeArio sending me his folders, I got this figured out finally! Believe it or not it had to do with having a gif image for certain games. I had re-built the image loading mechanisms for 7.11 to make them a lot more performant, but the new mechanism does not support gifs for the main images, which was in turn causing the videos to never load. I'll have a final beta out to fix this shortly.
  6. Sure, that makes sense. If you can send me your data folder in a PM, I'll give it a test. I'm not quite sure how data could be affecting video playback, but it's worth a shot.
  7. Thank you all; I have all of these updates into the latest beta (including @Opak's update from after the last release). Still planning on releasing the official 7.11 tomorrow morning.
  8. Hey all, beta 19 is out. I'm considering this the release candidate for the official 7.11 release, which I'm hoping to put out tomorrow. However, there is still one outstanding issue that @LukeArio is experiencing that I have not been able to reproduce to save my life: If anyone else is experiencing any video issues with this latest beta, please let me know.
  9. @LukeArio For the life of me I can't seem to reproduce this. Are you still seeing the exact same issues as you were seeing in the video you posted earlier in the thread? Or is it a slightly different issue now (video coming up blank vs. previous video playing)? Have you tried using WMP instead to see if you have the same issues? Also, my apologies if you've already shared this info, but what version of Windows are you running? Thanks!
  10. Awesome @Grila. I'm more than happy to test things out.
  11. Hello all! It's that time again (finally); I'm hoping to put out the next official release on Thursday if possible. Thank you all for all you do! Also, here are the release notes: New Wall View for Big Box! New "Launch With" option for choosing an emulator on the fly New "Change ROMs Folder Path for Selected Games" option @CliveBarker @AFaustini @Wattoo @Opak @dukeemu @cyanjiang @Bardock @MajKSA Thank you once again!
  12. New beta is out folks to hopefully fix some video issues:
  13. Alright, progress! I finally found a bug I introduced for background videos that I just fixed, which should resolve @Naddel81's issues. I haven't been able to replicate @LukeArio's issues, but it's possible that this will resolve your issues as well, Luke. A new beta is out with the fix. I'm hoping to put out the official version this week.
  14. @Naddel81 @LukeArio This might help me figure out what the issue is on your machines. If you can, open up the LaunchBox\Data\Settings.xml file in a text editor (Notepad if nothing else), and replace the following line: <DebugLog>false</DebugLog> With this line: <DebugLog>true</DebugLog> (Basically, just change false to true.) Then after running Big Box for a while, hopefully you'll see a Debug.log file in your LaunchBox folder. If you can attach that here, that should hopefully help.
  15. Lol okay. Well one fix down. @Naddel81 Thanks for the video; what happens if you wait a bit? Does the video show up eventually? Also, does it only happen with background videos?
  16. @MrAwesomeFalcon Thanks for the report; I've fixed this for the next beta (which should be beta 18. I just put out beta 17 with a hopeful fix for some of the Big Box video issues I introduced in the 7.11 betas. I'm hoping that the video issues are fixed so we can look into actually putting out a release.
  17. @DFelten We dove into the details of all this in the live stream from last week: It's complicated and can be messy because of the rough title matching required, and we can only dive in so deep without creating performance issues. So, I think we're going to leave it as-is at this point. Per the actual title that is used on the game, I agree that it would be nice to have the option there, though it probably won't make it into the next official release.
  18. Hey all, just put out a new beta. Please let me know if this latest beta fixes any of the video issues that were introduced to you in the 7.11 betas. @Naddel81 @LukeArio @dragon57 that sounds potentially like a performance issue with VLC not being able to load up the videos from disk fast enough, which is a known/unrelated issue with VLC (not much we can do about that particular issue). I'll look at the LaunchBox VLC issues here soon as well; however, let's keep this particular thread focused on Big Box video issues that were specifically introduced with the 7.11 betas. For any new folks coming into the thread, please confirm if the issues you're seeing are new to the 7.11 betas by downloading the official 7.10 release and comparing.
  19. Thank you guys. I'm definitely still here working away.
  20. Just responded via email, @acidbottle.
  21. New beta is out guys with a couple of fixes from the live stream this morning related to alternate titles and searching the games database without a platform specified. I've also updated VLC to the latest version. Let me know if anyone sees any issues with this beta.
  22. Thanks @LukeArio and @kmoney. I just put out a new beta that includes the updated version of VLC as well as some other fixes from the live stream this morning. I doubt it, but please let me know if this happens to resolve any of the above issues. Thanks!
  23. @Naddel81 I haven't heard of these sort of issues for quite a long time, so it seems like maybe this is isolated? Have you tested it on any other machines? None of the VLC playback or video stuff has been changed in any of the 7.11 betas. Have you tried going back to the 7.10 official release?
  24. If you can zip up your LaunchBox\Metadata\Metadata.xml file, that might help.
  25. New beta is out guys; this fixes an issue with connecting LaunchBox to the games database. I switched the games database to use HTTPS which messed with that process a bit. Also, I've reverted to .NET 4.6.2 instead of 4.7. I haven't experienced any issues with 4.7, but it seems like I've been getting a lot of reports of various issues, so it feels like the stability of .NET 4.7 just isn't there quite yet. For that reason, I've reverted to .NET 4.6.2 until 4.7 gets a little more solid. Please let me know how the performance of this beta fares compared to the previous beta. In theory, performance may be very slightly reduced due to downgrading back to the .NET 4.6.2 framework. This is unfortunate, but we can go back to 4.7 in a few months once it's more stable.
