  1. I would like to see this as well, so we should add it to the next poll.
  2. Good point about the marquees; I'll add that to my list.
  3. Think I answered you in the live stream, @AFaustini.
  4. This has come up before. As much as I'd love to not install DirectX for every update, we will inevitably get a bunch of reported errors if we don't. Previously we skipped out on DirectX for updates, but unfortunately users ran into too many missing DLL issues so we had to add it back in. As far as I know there's no way to install DirectX without elevated privileges.
  5. I'm loving that view, @Maddoc1007. I trust you got this solved since I saw the video of it. Right now the placement of the videos is a serious pain point with the themes, so that is pretty high up on my list for the theme improvement stuff. I should have a better solution for that soon.
  6. Great to hear @PixelMonster; thanks again for the purchase. If anyone else stumbles on this thread looking for a solution, please just email us at support@unbrokensoftware.com per the above.
  7. Alright guys, beta 2 is out with these changes: - Improvement: The Clean Up Images option from the Tools menu in LaunchBox has been modified to also remove duplicate images - Improvement: the Clean Up Images option from the Tools menu in LaunchBox has been tweaked to add a Cancel button and use all cores on your system in order to vastly improve performance Keep in mind that going forward, as long as you haven't unchecked the background updates option, the new beta version should be downloaded in the background and you won't be prompted to update until the download has completed (in case you're wondering why you're not seeing an update notification). You should still restart LaunchBox in order for it to look for and start the download in the background. Also, please make a backup of your image folders before running the updated Clean Up Images process, just in case we run into a nasty bug or something.
  8. Yes, there is a lot that can be done there going forward. That's not a focus for this upcoming release, but agreed. Right now we download as much as possible really. In the future we can look at providing more options and whittling it down.
  9. I was thinking about that; we do need options to clean up the other types of media as well. It probably won't make it into this release but we'll get to it.
  10. Create a BitBucket ticket for that if you can, @Sir BLaDE. It's a major pain because we'd have to get a bunch of new data for it, but hopefully we can look into it the next time we update the MAME metadata.
  11. The images with big long GUID-based strings (55c7e3c1...) are the result of having more than one game in your platform with the same title. In that case, the game ID is appended to the file name so it can be mapped correctly. The duplicate images you're seeing there are because you have several games in your collection with the same title. Individual games have to have separate images with the current way things are set up, otherwise we'll run into a ton of problems. The CRC checks only look for duplicates within a single game.
  12. I got too much in my head to remember what specific bug that was, honestly @Porl Hendy.
  13. Currently, no, though that would be nice, agreed. But that will have to wait until a later date probably, since we were focused on CRC checks and identical images for this go around.
  14. Yeah, the logic there has been changed in the beta since we added CRC checks to the images. It should download any new images now in the beta.
  15. Hi @DjBlades, we're actually working on this process right now. The latest beta should tweak it significantly. Are you using the beta or the official release?
  16. Sadly, I'm not the best person to help with emulator issues. Got my head too far deep in the code.
  17. @hansgruberr No problem, just email us at support@unbrokensoftware.com.
  18. Everyone learns differently, but I myself have never found a book that helpful in learning a language. These days, at least for me, the best course of action is to set out to build something and Google any questions that come up.
  19. And our first 7.10 beta is finally here! Changes so far: - Improvement: LaunchBox and Big Box updates are now downloaded automatically in the background so you don't have to wait for them; this can be disabled under Options > General > Updates in LaunchBox (PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS WILL ONLY APPLY TO THE NEXT UPDATE, NOT THIS UPDATE) - Improvement: CRC checks are now used to eliminate duplicate images when downloading from the LaunchBox Games Database or EmuMovies on imports and metadata/media updates I am planning to tweak the clean up images process to eliminate existing duplicate images as well, but this isn't done yet. There are several minor theme additions to this beta as well by request from @CriticalCid; I still have plans to get back to tweaks for themes again here soon. Cid, unfortunately I have not yet gotten the video swapping to work. Tomorrow I'm planning to focus on ExoDOS @eXo, and then I'll be back on the cleaning up images thing.
  20. I wish I was 20 years older so I could've experienced the absolute beginnings of personal computing.
  21. Assembly is disgusting! Use machine code!
  22. It does seem to be generating more interest than I expected; we'll probably put it on the next poll in a couple months.
