What version of Retroarch are you using? Are you using a sideloaded version or the version from Google Play? What's the version number?

Black Screen When Launching Games Through RetroArch
Jason Carr replied to Afro Pear's topic in Android
RetroArch can be very finicky at times with things like this. For those of you running into an issue on the desktop (not Android), did you use the automated RetroArch installer? In either situation, this issue is always a configuration issue or some kind of system-specific driver or missing installation package issue, or something of that nature. Unfortunately though it can be many different things, so it can be difficult to figure out. We can rule out the LaunchBox configuration though if you can post screenshots of your emulator configuration in LaunchBox.- 18 replies

LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
We have a fix for this coming very soon (in the next Windows beta). To be honest, I'm not sure. Probably worth a shot. -
We are working on a fix for this. Ultimately, this whole issue is Google's fault, because they have screwed the pooch over and over again with their poorly designed Android permissions changes. Regardless, we are working on trying to navigate the terrible documentation surrounding these changes. We will get it fixed (as well as it can be fixed) soon enough.

@Tromzy There's no need for this, as you can easily do just that within the file browser dialog. For example, if you want to import only .cue files, just add files in the wizard and then type *.cue into the search bar. Then just select them all.

LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
Yes, of course it can be done. It's on our list. I'm on vacation currently though, so it will be a bit before I'm back tackling new things for the Android version. -
Yup, there are definitely settings coming to tweak that stuff.

@GabiAle97 Thanks for doing this research. Not sure why emulator developers sometimes decide to reinvent the wheel, but it's probably because Android does such a terrible job at making the standards obvious. Yes, when we add AetherSX2 (hopefully soon), we can use this info to get it added correctly.

@Cervious Not currently, but those features are coming. What details are you looking for?

Do you mean while playing the game? Good to know; I'll look into this. -
LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing

@thewhite I've confirmed that this is incorrect in the exporter for the 12.6 release. I've fixed it for the next beta, but it may be a bit before it's out because of the holidays. -

I don't think the folder location should matter, but I also don't really know what you're running into. If you can run enable debug logs in the options and then run a media download, we can look at the log file to see what might be happening. You can attach the latest log file here (from the LaunchBox\Logs folder). @thewhite I'll take a look at the exporter code. I believe I tested that successfully though, so I'm not sure how the lines would have been crossed there. -
Yes, video snaps are available in the latest beta. Details are here:
-
By chance, can you run a test and revert to an older version to see if things are any faster? We've had one other person suggest the same thing, but we haven't been able to replicate. My guess is that it's related to some kind of outside influence rather than the new releases, but I'd like to narrow it down.

Are you sure you enabled video downloads? I don't think other people are having any issues. They should show up under LaunchBox\Videos\Platform Name. I do plan to add it here soon. -
LaunchBox for Android New Version - Beta Testing
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in Android
Hey all, I have LaunchBox for Android 1.0-beta-1 out today with the following: Support for gameplay videos has been added! They can be downloaded from EmuMovies via the Download Missing Media option or exported from your desktop collection. A new option to enable hardware decoding for VLC video playback is available in the Options screen; however, some devices have stability issues with it, so you may need to turn it back off if you experience crashes A new Background Fade option is available in the Wheel with Details and Text List with Details view settings that allow you to control how dark the background video or background image is New Background Video and Stretch Background Video options are available in the Wheel with Details and Text List With Details view settings Performance on lower-end devices (such as the Nvidia Shield) is much improved during navigation This release is of course the videos release. Currently in beta 1, only background videos are supported, and only in the Wheel with Details and Text List with Details games views. Further options and views surrounding the videos are coming, of course. This beta should be perfectly usable with gameplay videos in your games lists, assuming you like the background videos approach. We do need as much testing on this as possible, as obviously adding videos is a major change that will need a lot of testing. Also note that you can now using the latest beta (12.6-beta-1) of the desktop app to export videos from your desktop collection, or you can download them from EmuMovies on your device. Let me know how everything goes. -
Beta 2 is out now with the following: Improvement: The Export to Android feature now has support for exporting screenshots and videos (for the next upcoming Android beta/release) Fixed: Rare error downloading metadata and media for Steam games Fixed: Rare "The notification platform is unavailable" errors on some odd systems Fixed: Launching Xbox or Microsoft Store games as additional applications was sometimes loading the Xbox Companion app instead of the game We're hoping to put out a bugfix release with these fixes later this week, so any extra testing you guys can do would be appreciated.

The first 12.6 beta is out now here:

You are always able to edit metadata in the XML, but only if you do it correclty. If LaunchBox is crashing as the result of an XML edit, then the XML edit was ultimately not done correctly. We generally don't encourage text edits of the XML files though unless you're a developer, because it can be difficult to do them correctly. The XML is definitely updated when the play time is updated. The issue might be that you're not closing down LaunchBox completely before editing the XML files though. We have had higher than usual traffic lately, but outside of the same one-off issues where users in some areas just have unfortunately bad Internet connections to the servers, things should be working fine. We haven't received any other complaints on that. If necessary, you can always use a VPN. We'll look into this.

12.6-beta-1 is out now with the following: Fixed: In rare cases, some cached images in Big Box were being incorrectly sized/stretched; if affected, please clear your Big Box image cache (introduced in 12.5) Fixed: The Big Box FlowVideo control (for theme developers) wasn't always stopping video playback properly when used in a platform view Fixed: When using the drag and drop import wizard and selecting "None of the Above", the options to import from the specified folder only and to use the folder name were missing Fixed: Additional applications from Amazon Games and Epic Games were not always showing up as a version in the context menu (introduced in 12.4) Fixed: Retro achievements weren't always being loaded properly in Big Box (introduced in 12.5)

Thank you all; I have all four translations updated for the next beta. I also corrected the Korean language name.
-
That makes sense, but unfortunately we already tried to cater to the desktop Linux crowd. It resulted in interest from only a handful of people, even after emailing the majority of our audience about it. I'm sure there are more than a handful of users who are interested, but at this point the desktop Linux audience has already been proven to be much too small to be able to focus on.

Thanks as always to you guys for your help. We're hoping to put the 12.5 release out early next week, so once again it's time to translate. The translation packages are all updated. @Kondorito @Cauptain @Nyny77 @Opak @dukeemu @cyanjiang @Just001Kim @MajKSA @gamehacker @alexposad @k_kutsugi @Bardock @Soomin papa

@Soomin papa The new translation should be in 12.5-beta-1 and 12.5-beta-2.
