  1. Something gets downloading to the location before the installer initiates right? Which I would assume is the installer itself. The old one just downloaded a zip file and automatically unpacked it to the location. The updater would download both the exe and the zip. Button 1 would unpack the zip. Button 2 with execute the installer. This is very easy. I may not know C sharp but I've already done this in WPF, Bat, and Autohotkey with other projects. And WPF and Autohotkey are just simplistic ways to get the job done faster and both can use C sharp along with it. So basically they are the same things but just done a little bit differently as far as format. Since you will just be choosing which file to open and extract (or open and initiate), that's is all there is to it. People make custom launchers for normal games all the time when they find there are not enough options with the original one. It's not complicated like you think. And you know more than me :)
  2. Everything is already set. You've already learned to master it other other way. And you've already learned how to master it this way. So basically it's like combining both to one launcher. One button with call a function to do it the other way (dump the files to the location from the zip). The other button with call the function to do it this way (installer). You already got it figured out ;) It's just the process of setting each to its own button.
  3. Never install games in the system's program files. This is how you use windows: System C drive is on an SSD. All your games and programs should not get installed on your system drive. Instead, they should go on a hdd with a different drive letter. This is also helpful when you need to reinstall windows and all your stuff will still be intact. Secondly, installing a program and moving it elsewhere afterward is bad practice. This is asking for registry problems or just a messy registry. If this must be done (because those requests come from users who don't know how to use windows correctly), you could make an option button that says Use registry/Don't use registry. If one presses Don't use registry, then it would unpack the way it use to. If the other option, then it would do it this way. Problem solved :)
  4. Youch! One of the best things about this program was that it was portable and left no registry entries :P
  5. Dpad bug from post #425 is fixed! Thanks. Sidebar to Game Area cursor bug is still there though.
  6. Hey boss, how far away down the list are these 2 small issues?: https://youtu.be/8Et-g5w9NyA *excuse my voice :P I just realized how weird I sound when I listen to myself on a recording. It doesn't sound like that when it's actually coming out of my head as I hear it LMAO*
  7. Hi. The normal launchbox mode. So I guess 'desktop application'. Edit: Pressing right on the dpad when on the sidebar seems to be responsive now since the new update. The controller altogether seems more responsive now. However, it makes the launchbox arrow pop up when using the dpad to go back to the game box area. Also, in the game box area, when shifting games, each time you hover over a new game, the windows cursor is in waiting mode for a couple seconds before moving on. But I guess this still applies to one of the things I said above.
  8. Yay, hotplugging and afterplugging work again! However, controller seems mostly unresponsive most of the time. It takes like 3 seconds to scroll to the next game when using the dpad. And sometimes it takes a long time before you are actually able to control launchbox after plugging the controller in when launchbox is already open. Controller seems to get stuck alot when using the dpad to go to the sidebar and then pressing right to go back to the game scrolling window. I like that a pause was added when scrolling through games when using the triggers to scroll (pauses on a game before moving to the next one while still holding the trigger down). I'd like to request that the pauses be longer or configurable.
  9. In the next update/beta update, can you add a hotkey that refreshes Launchbox (equivalent of pressing OK or CANCEL in the options menu)? It should be a 2.5 minute implement so it won't take alot of time. This would make manual changes to the ini more convenient and one could just press the hotkey to refresh launchbox instead of going through the steps to close and reopen to make changes update. Making the exe clickable again while already on to restart the program in the same state you left it would be a good alternative as well.
  10. So suppose you are trying to change the emu paths too, is there a way for launchbox to detect the games you already had allocated and it will rejunction the games back to their settings when you rescan for said games?
  11. If you've already set up your launchbox with games and now want to move the whole thing somewhere else, how can you easily re-allocate everything without doing everything all over again if the games aren't in the launchbox folder?
  12. Jason Carr said Yeah, I've noticed that recently too. I had that all working, originally, though with a tad bit of a delay (was trying to optimize CPU usage). Thanks for the note, I will look to fix this very soon. Any updates on this?
  13. Yes, someone else who wants the same thing I want! I've requested this before: -2 dropdown category selections in sidebar divided evenly with a divider with each have a scrollbar to be able to see all categories in case the list exceeds screen range -sidebar category selection sharing the same selection as the toolbar category selection (so that what you are viewing stays the same when toggling sidebar off).
  14. Yes, as they appear there. Kinda confused on what they do exactly.
  15. Thanks. Are there any discussions about options 2, 4 and 5?
  16. How do you access the voting system?
  17. I've requested something similar like what you're saying here: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/list-of-desired-featuresenhancements *Notice only the sidebar in the picture in that link while reading following comment* So what if a solution was to have the menu version and the sidebar version to share their settings. If you switch one in the sidebar, it will automatically be switched in the menu version. The the menu bar would look like the link's menu bar and the second arrangment box to be called what you said: "Filter By". So that way, both will serve their purposes while solving the issue (because there is a hotkey for viewing the sidebar). And it would also allow you to filter by a second category, being more organized. For example: Show only NES and Adventure games instead of just NES and Everything. Would you like it if it were like that as a solution? I believe I would. It might cut down on loading times or something too when browsing since it's showing less per. Unrelated but posting here so that I wouldn't have to make another topic but: With the button mapping, can you separate context menu and cancel from being on the same button? You could also separate every multi hotkey since each can be mapped to multiple buttons anyway.
  18. Okay, thanks. Edit: Some may not remember, without having to search online for this topic, that you can do that so if you could make a note of it somewhere on that page in launchbox as a reminder, that would be great.
  19. When viewing the sidebar, categories seem to do fine. But as soon as you hide the sidebar, all games merge together. May I request an option for the title bar 'arrange by' to share the same setting configs as the sidebar 'arrange by' or something similar that would solve this?
  20. I noticed that under import batch games that the option to type in what file extensions you want to capture is gone. This is useful for when you have games that are 2 files (like bin and cue for example) in a game's folder. Without that feature, launchbox picks both types of files and you end up having to going through every single file to exclude one or the other. Can we have that back (along with what we have currently) so that when that situation comes up, it wouldn't take so long to set up? If that feature is still there but somewhere else, then ignore this. And if so where is it now?
  21. I was 'bout to say, I could have sworn I remember it having it before lol. Thanks bud
  22. "As for disc switching, most emulators will allow you to save state on the "Disc Swapping" screen, load the next image then reload the save state. If we were to have LB handle all of this, we would need to know the default save state buttons, perform it, send a command prompt (if it can receive those while the program is running?) or a command to kill its self, relaunch with the next disc and automatically load the swap save state." Edit Game > Additional Apps > Add Application > Use Emulator allows you to swaps discs by right clicking on the game with the mouse and choosing the 'app' to run next (in this case, switching discs in emus). We don't need to use save states to switch discs. "Most of that would need to be user input, including LB knowing what Disc is what. So we could use that info to determine which disc to swap to next. We would have to force the users to keep the default Save State buttons. We could let them change what LB would use, but it would most likely need to stay a keyboard command. We could also allow them to select which save state slot to use for Disc Swapping as well. This would however also be a task in its self. LB would need to know each possible popular emulator and the various settings we talked about." The disc swap wouldn't auto detect what disc to choose next. It would display discs 1-4 (or how many ever you set it to for that game) and when it's time to change discs, a button the the gamepad (such as the home button) would minimize the game and display launchbox again. Then with the controller, you can select your next disc without using the mouse (just with the controller). Just like with the current technique where you have to use the mouse to select your next disc on the right click menu (at lease with epsxe for that's the only one I tried so far ~ do other emus have problems doing it this way?). The visual disc display over the game box would just be a faster way to access what we already have in launchbox.
  23. "However, it is a challenge (it's actually very difficult to do, believe it or not), and depending on the emulator it may or may not be possible to have LaunchBox insert discs while the emulator is running." Technically you already have this feature implemented except for it is in the right click menu only. The only systems that use multiple discs are PS1, PS2, a small amount for Dreamcast (if not just one game), and some games on Dolphin. But I hope a solution can be found.
  24. Edit: EPSXE doesn't seem to want to work when using EPSXE Shark. It works without Launchbox though. And launchbox plays the original exe. Anyway to fix that through launchbox?
  25. SentaiBrad said shinra358 said It's best to load cues instead for EPSXE or else CD sound based games won't play sound properly. Is there a cmdline for cue's? Generally speaking though, no you shouldn't have any problem if you load games from the source not the cue. Nah, loading from cue on EPXSE gives maximum compatibility. Some games fail to play sounds if you don't. Some even fail to play. For example, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is one of those games. Loading the .cue as the rom works though. Unrelated, I know Msi afterburner isn't a game or emu, but since we are talking cmd lines; does anyone know the cmdlines for it to switch to specific profiles? I can use this to set with 'Run Before' (to switch to an overclocked profile) and 'Run After' (to switch back to default clocks). This way, I can save energy when needed and only apply more performance with games that need it automatically. Edit: Nevermind. Found out it's just '-profile1', '-profile2', etc. following the program's path. Now to find how to prevent UAC prompt without completely disabling UAC. Edit 2: I noticed that there were no virtualboy cmd lines listed. Here are all the mednafen overall and system specific cmdlines: http://mednafen.sourceforge.net/documentation/#Core+Features%01Using+Mednafen%01Command-line I don't know about vbjin though.
