  1. So if you deleted the platform but not the games, all of the games still exist in LaunchBox. You need to delete the games then a platform in LaunchBox. So LB thought you were trying to import duplicates. And yes, we saw that TGDB is up again, but no we will not be switching back to use them. From the next version onward we are not utilizing TGDB at all. Our database is a mirror of theirs however, we just need to alter some of the importing rules.
  2. Thank you, I greatly appreciate that.
  3. That must be a bug. Thank you for letting us know. The switch from TGDB to LBDB will create some odd issues like this, so we need to obviously get those ironed out ASAP.
  4. I am unsure how many of you like to watch YouTube or Streams, but I love doing them. www.youtube.com/SentaiBrad http://www.twitch.tv/SentaiBrad I am starting to stream more and more often again. My goal is to be partnered with with Twitch by sometime this Summer, and that will require a lot of support so I thought I would let everyone here know, if they don't know already. I know a few of you are subbed to be on YouTube, and I greatly appreciate that. I've never really advertised it specifically like this before, but I want to be able to really grow what I do to help support my family. Candidly, Jason provides me with a job that I never thought I'd have. We've created our own jobs, and this is no different for me. I do lots of gaming stuff, things related to LaunchBox, and of course everyone knows I am the Content Producer for our YouTube channel and mod here. If you think it would be fun to watch, then please check it out. Only subscribe and follow if you like what I make! I don't like trying to pressure people to follow or sub if they don't like the content, if you do then I appreciate the love. As with our YouTube channel, I would also love to know what everyone would want to watch me play or stream. As I am writing this post, I am about to go Live with a Stream. I am playing Diablo 3 for about an hour then an insane JRPG on the SNES called Eternal Filena. When I have no clue what to play, I use LaunchBox on Stream to pick it for me. Come, hang out with me!
  5. Remember those two gigantic layoff's Microsoft did? They did away with high level developers and QA. The user base is their QA now. And the fucked up part is that if you're in the insider program you don't even really need to manually reply back, though obviously that's good too, but they should know what happens as long as you're connected to the internet. I don't mean this as in "Microsoft is spying on you", I don't think that at all. I have the box checked to send back usage info and errors, crashes etc. But every user is a QA tester. On one hand, this makes sense. Major bugs usually aren't caught until several million people are using it, but on the other hand little shit is getting through too now, so... I don't know. I'm gonna go stream though instead of think about Microsoft. xD
  6. Older emulators are always nostalgic, but if there is no more support then what can you do. No, I don't think I am in the Insider Program. I quite honestly don't know if I would want to be for my OS.
  7. Minecraft doesn't use the conventional exe or file structure that most games use. Personally, I would get a 3rd Party launcher and add that regular exe to LaunchBox and go that route. I personally love the Curse launcher. It is simple to use and you can download mod packs and texture packs directly in the UI. You can even download single mods so if you fall in love with a new mod pack, but it is missing the Mini Map mod for example, you can add that in manually. Of course, you can also launch vanilla MC as well through it.
  8. It's probably because Kega is not being worked on like Derek said. There's really nothing that can be done about it unless someone develops it further. I mean, it was made before Windows 8 was even announced. This is a really good reason to switch over to Retro Arch. I did a Sega Tutorial Episode, but I think you knew that. On the W10 note, I've actually not had any problems with it at all. I don't know if that just makes me lucky or what... but I love W10.
  9. kmoney2315 said I thought they were, the shutdown button is going to work great in my arcade cab! Well that was the point! We heard from everyone making a set top LaunchBox or people who were intentionally trying to run without a Keyboard and Mouse (except for when you need it for windows) so Jason added this in. Drybonz said SentaiBrad said Did you name the platform "Super Nintendo (SNES)" ? Along these lines, it might be helpful if you could change the platform name only as it shows in the LaunchBox sidebar, etc... without it affecting the platform name for metadata and image searches and folder names for image storage, etc... I sometimes like to change the platform name so that it fits in a more narrow sidebar or groups alphabetically with other platforms... but it's a pain to have to change it back and forth so that an image search will work. Now that we have our own Database things like this can get changed or fixed over time. The platform names will still need to be a specific name, but over time that can go from just "Super Nintendo (SNES)" to just SNES, or we can certainly add in Super Famicom and if all your games are under that (because let's be honest Famicom is a badass name), then it will know to look in the SNES section. We've said the primary reason is TGDB, but also there is a performance question that we have about it. If we add in a bunch of logic to the importer it could make it take a lot longer, it could also add no extra time at all. So if we do decide to expand the list of usable Platform names we'll need to test it vigorously.
  10. Then there is something wrong with your setup in LaunchBox. A setting, a line of text, a letter, something is off. The only time I get no loading with RetroArch, because it does happen to me too, it is usually something is off with the associated platforms list (which is super important for RetroArch), the games are set to the wrong emulator that I changed for testing, there is a wrong or missing BIOS (but SNES doesn't require them), or I just typed something in wrong somewhere during the process. It happens to me too sometimes but it is usually a small mistake that I just missed.
  11. Did you name the platform "Super Nintendo (SNES)" ? This is certainly not normal behavior and since it is a fresh install, there is nothing that should muck it up other than the name of the Platform or the importer rules are off. Here or the BitBucket works. It is a Beta release and this is the Beta Thread so no worries.
  12. Cid, you can go ahead and edit your posts now. I apologize for messing up the images. >.<
  13. Damn it, the images were there an hour ago. Let me have Jason give you editing permissions.
  14. Jason Carr said Maybe I should buy you a camera, Brad. :) I'm expensive, you can't afford me. ;)
  15. So far our community is really amazing, we've barely had to deal with shitty people. Though, I needed to stop Jason himself from using meme's. At one point the thank you button was a giant meme... thank god I got him to change that.
  16. Well that just depends on the setting you changed, yea. If it was a general setting then that will be the RetroArch.cfg, if it is core based, deleting the core settings for a specific core out of the core config or replacing it with a default one will work too.
  17. Yea that I knew, but I don't know who has been giving editing or not. That'll need to be fixed... but it doesn't come up that often.
  18. Multiple files in a zip can effect it easily. Also deleting the core file wont change the settings, if you do want to try new settings open up the RetroArch.zip you downloaded from their site, and move the RetroArch.cfg in to your RA root folder. Make sure to back up your current RA.cfg if you feel it necessary. This will reset RetroArch back to default. Deleting the cfg doesn't quite work the same, it changes a lot more settings then it should, and this is the easiest way. Just make sure to change the System path setting for other consoles that require BIOS files, if you haven't already. If you did though and change cfg files, you need to reset that stuff.
  19. I just edited his placeholder post with the post he made below me. I didn't know he wouldn't be able to edit after I posted, I thought he could. Which by the way I'll have Jason allow to edit posts. So if they're the same, I'll delete Post 39. If Cid also wants the posts merged I'll merge them too, but for now I'll leave it how he intended it.
  20. GatoSoft said EDIT: I almost forgot: what about metadata from GameFAQs? It have a lot of artwork and info of even rare and obscure games. Could be possible to add support for GameFAQs in LaunchBox? o_o? Yea, we researched at least half a dozen places. We could force out the information if we wanted to, but then they could IP Ban the users who connect. If they don't have an API it won't happen, which they don't. There's also nothing that says users can't have images from GameFAQ's and have them on their HDD. A lot of my JRPG's have images only from GameFAQ's. keltoigael said Metadata submission inside of LB would be fantastic. I know myself and a few older Hyperspinner's would not have any issue with submitting artwork and the likes. I am glad people think that would be awesome, because we do too, and that is exactly what we plan on doing. Just please give us some time to get that sorted. We still have a difficult road ahead of us just making sure our database works, is stable, and will be sufficient for our community. We need to make sure that it is stable before adding in tons of features. If it turns out to be less stable then we hoped, then adding in features to let users add data from within LB will make it more unstable unfortunately. Jason goes full time with LaunchBox this weekend though, so stuff like this will get done a lot lot faster. We also need to check with EmuMovies, because now we have their data integrated.
  21. CriticalCid said @SentaiBrad it seems I couldn' edit my placeholder post and it just created a new post. Maybe you can delete the placeholder then. Also if you want further information's for your video tutorial I would be very happy to help. @CrticalCid Can you confirm that the placeholder post I just edited matches the second part of the tutorial? If so, I'll delete the second post.
