  1. Multiple files in a zip can effect it easily. Also deleting the core file wont change the settings, if you do want to try new settings open up the RetroArch.zip you downloaded from their site, and move the RetroArch.cfg in to your RA root folder. Make sure to back up your current RA.cfg if you feel it necessary. This will reset RetroArch back to default. Deleting the cfg doesn't quite work the same, it changes a lot more settings then it should, and this is the easiest way. Just make sure to change the System path setting for other consoles that require BIOS files, if you haven't already. If you did though and change cfg files, you need to reset that stuff.
  2. I just edited his placeholder post with the post he made below me. I didn't know he wouldn't be able to edit after I posted, I thought he could. Which by the way I'll have Jason allow to edit posts. So if they're the same, I'll delete Post 39. If Cid also wants the posts merged I'll merge them too, but for now I'll leave it how he intended it.
  3. GatoSoft said EDIT: I almost forgot: what about metadata from GameFAQs? It have a lot of artwork and info of even rare and obscure games. Could be possible to add support for GameFAQs in LaunchBox? o_o? Yea, we researched at least half a dozen places. We could force out the information if we wanted to, but then they could IP Ban the users who connect. If they don't have an API it won't happen, which they don't. There's also nothing that says users can't have images from GameFAQ's and have them on their HDD. A lot of my JRPG's have images only from GameFAQ's. keltoigael said Metadata submission inside of LB would be fantastic. I know myself and a few older Hyperspinner's would not have any issue with submitting artwork and the likes. I am glad people think that would be awesome, because we do too, and that is exactly what we plan on doing. Just please give us some time to get that sorted. We still have a difficult road ahead of us just making sure our database works, is stable, and will be sufficient for our community. We need to make sure that it is stable before adding in tons of features. If it turns out to be less stable then we hoped, then adding in features to let users add data from within LB will make it more unstable unfortunately. Jason goes full time with LaunchBox this weekend though, so stuff like this will get done a lot lot faster. We also need to check with EmuMovies, because now we have their data integrated.
  4. CriticalCid said @SentaiBrad it seems I couldn' edit my placeholder post and it just created a new post. Maybe you can delete the placeholder then. Also if you want further information's for your video tutorial I would be very happy to help. @CrticalCid Can you confirm that the placeholder post I just edited matches the second part of the tutorial? If so, I'll delete the second post.
  5. On the safe side, I would unzip a few games to test, and don't change their file extension that will do more harm then good. Otherwise... I am a bit stumped myself. You seem to have done everything correctly.
  6. Jason Carr said CliveBarker said I just have a question: can the same thing happen to our database if the community grows a lot and the hosting costs become unaffordable? That's a definite no. Thankfully LaunchBox has a very good revenue stream now (we're making money on LaunchBox Premium sales), so we can afford a good server that can easily handle the load. TheGamesDB.net (at least up until now) has been run on a virtualized (low-power) server because they don't have the revenue for a server that can truly handle the load. We have a physical server that can easily handle the load, and can upgrade it if necessary. There's too much banking on the LaunchBox database functionality for me to ever let it fail, so that shouldn't be a concern. Hosting costs are minimal compared to the income of LaunchBox sales (which are now paying my salary and feeding my family, praise the Lord). I rely on that income too. Like Jason said, we can not let it fail.
  7. Computers some times have fits, especially depending on where things are being installed, and how the program updates.
  8. Thank you for keeping the links in the tutorial legal, I very much appreciate that.
  9. No problem! It might take a bit of work, but eventually we're also going to have a really damn good Database as well. Enjoy LaunchBox and your games.
  10. Yes, thank you to those who stuck it out with us. We'll have a better future this way and I hope that we can create a better database as a community.

  13. Yea, this situation sucks really bad but we gotta move past it, and we are. I look forward to creating a better database with the users here.
  14. Well GamesDB is no more. They have been effectively shut down as their service provider pulled their plug on them. We will not be using them going forward, update to the new Beta for the new scraper. As for your images, yes you can use them, but it takes some work. In your LaunchBox's Image folder are a list of consoles. In there is a folder for each category of image. They need to be named after the game so Legend of Zelda in LB, Legend of Zelda (U) as the file name the picture can be named Legend of Zelda or Legend of Zelda (U).
  15. Actually Cid, if you would document that for me and PM me the steps for it so I can adapt that in to the MAME Tutorial for next week I would greatly appreciate it.
  16. I've already posted about this here: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/troubleshooting/some-new-information-on-the-current-unfortunate-gamesdb-situation
  17. That I do not know, but rest assured that Jason and I are fixing it. We'll have a solution soon.
  18. Off the top of my head F2 and F3 or F4? F2 is certainly save if I recall.
  19. duhmez said Same here been down 2 days now which is sad as I just got Launchbox and am trying to add my SNES collection. I also just paid $60 for lifetime emumovies membership and cannot import them. Hope it come sback up soon. EmuMovies is fine. GamesDB is having the problem.

  21. Sharing the XML wouldn't be viable. All of the paths to roms and emulators would be wrong.
  22. Just so everyone reading this knows, GamesDB is not shutting down. Their hosting site has locked them out completely. The owner is a nice guy, and is trying hard to get his site up and running again. Unfortunately It does look like it is time for us to part ways with GamesDB, meaning we will either be adding a new scraping source to LaunchBox (Likely GiantBomb since MobyGames isn't ready to go) or create our own. We had plans for this but with the recent events it looks like this will be happening sooner rather than later. Either way, everyone will be notified soon with our plans. Thank you all again very much.
  23. Yea, Jason and I feel horrible for new and existing users. You all paid for this and now a core function doesn't work. We're grateful that so far we don't seem to be under attack by any users. So far the reception has been really good as to not be mad at us. I've always said we have a great community and times like this warrants that praise.
