@kmoney Hmm, yeah that seems to be happening for me as well. I'm not sure why because I know I tested the update function when it was originally put it and it was updating the existing ones. I'm not sure what to suggest there. You can either remove the config with the "Remove config" option in the plugin first or just delete the folders in the PCSX2\ini folder before downloading them and they'll come through correctly. New configs: Battle Engine Aquila Bombastic City Crisis Cocoto Fishing Master

And if anyone wants to make that change to their configs without redownloading everything, you can do that easily with Notepad++. Just go into the inis folder, do a search for PCSX2_vm.ini, drag them all into Notepad++, then do a search and replace for: VsyncEnable=1 to VsyncEnable=2 Replace all in all open documents > save all > close all

Okay, so the games that already had Vsync disabled still have it disabled and everything that had it on has been changed to adaptive.

Alright, in that case I'll just shift all of them over to adaptive.

I did some more reading/testing and apparently the Vsync function in PCSX2 is essentially there to account for disabled desktop composition/non-Aero/etc. If you go to PCSX2, right-click and go to properties, and in the compatibility tab check "Disable Desktop Composition", then try a game in PCSX2 with Vsync disabled you'll see a significant amount of screen tearing. So the Vsync function is apparently PCSX2's way of providing a workaround in that situation. I guess that makes sense since PCSX2 doesn't use exclusive fullscreen to begin with. With that in mind it really doesn't seem all that necessary, since I can't imagine that being something that would actually be needed for most people. I'm curious if the "adaptive" setting is any noticeably different from "off" for you @Thornback because, if not, that might be a better compromise. If the results are the same as "on", then I guess I can just turn them all off, and just tell people that if they have desktop composition disabled that they're going to need to enable Vsync in the configs. I would hope that adaptive could just work for both cases.

V-sync doesn't cause stutter per-se, but it does increase hardware demand, which can in turn result in slowdown/stutter. Shaolin Monks is actually fairly demanding, more than you might expect. I've disabled Vsync in other one-off cases like Shadow of the Colossus where it's a particularly punishing game on hardware, but I'm not sure that I'm willing to just do that across the board, since it's really just not necessary in most cases and I'm not convinced that you're never going to have tearing with it off. The option is there for a reason, and it's not "all this does is make your games stutter". I'll go ahead and update the Shaolin Monks config to remove it, however, as it does seem to improve performance a bit there, and the game kinda needs it.

Pretty frustrating night. I spent a whole lot of time working on Beyond Good & Evil but unfortunately it's just not quite in a satisfactory state for me. It's particularly frustrating because it's really close. I am adding a new section at the bottom of the sheet for orange status. These are ones that I will not be uploading configs for to github because I'm not happy with them in the state they're in, but you can at least see what you can do to get closer. There are a lot of notes on it. Basically shadows become a problem early on, and require you to periodically swap to software and then back for them to update. They're basically stuck while in hardware and don't animate. This wouldn't be so terrible were it not for the fact that there are times where it can make huge dark sections on the ground that are stuck there until you swap back and forth to clear it out. Software doesn't seem to have any issues except that it's unplayably slow at times, so that's not really a viable option either. I'm going to look around to see if I can find some kind of custom pnach file that will just outright disable the shadows altogether. If that's possible than it'd be in pretty good shape honestly. I also noticed that I had neglected to enable cheats and widescreen patches in the new configs I added yesterday, so I've updated those. If you downloaded those previously, you'll want to update them. It's because I started using 1.6.0 to make the new configs and had forgotten to enable those by default like I had in 1.5.0. New configs: AirForce Delta Strike Barbarian Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse (dear god this game is complete garbage)

Couple new configs tonight. 007: Everything or Nothing 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker AirBlade Jak II I was happy to discover that Jak II is quite playable now. No more random speedups and slowdown, no more black eyes on characters. It is on the demanding side but performance is pretty consistent with the settings included. As a bit of an oddity, the game has to be fullbooted otherwise it starts in Japanese o_O Like Amplitude, that's covered by the config as well. Tried out a couple others that I'd previously tried and found to be broken, all are still broken unfortunately - Primal, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and Power Drome.

Thanks! Technically yes, although I've decided that for the time being I'm just going to make it simple and just work on filling in the missing bits from my physical collection. I've got a lot of stuff that I haven't made configs for yet, so I'm going to start there. The last time I tried Primal it was unplayably slow. If memory serves it was extremely punishing on the CPU. It's been a while though.

I didn't have to do that, but glad you got it sorted. All I did was literally just change my path for PCSX2 from my 1.5.0 exe to the 1.6.0 exe and then restart LB. If it makes any difference though, my emulator is just named "PCSX2" though. Not "PCSX2 1.6.0" or whatever. So that didn't change from one version to the other.

I just pushed through a small update for Dawn of Mana to remove large framebuffer. It doesn't improve speed per se, but it does help with memory spikes which the game is fond of, so it makes it a smoother experience. At some point I'm going to have to go through all these and just remove it for pretty much everything that doesn't need it for a very good reason. I mostly removed it in cases where I could see a very measurable increase in maximum speed with it off, and only removed it elsewhere when I saw it help with spikes like this one, but that can be a little bit harder to spot depending on how frequent it is.

Allllllllllllright... everything's been pushed through and the sheet has been updated. A few notes: Every single config has been touched, because the formatting in the configs changed a little bit, so even if there were “no changes”, there were some formatting changes that took place in the background. The only games noted in the update log, however, are ones where some value or setting actually changed from the previous version. I made it a point to add a lot of additional notes for each game, so consider revisiting the details spreadsheet if you’re at all curious about this stuff and just for things to be aware of. If one of the Bob deinterlacing modes is being used and you decide to change the scaling, do not change to a non-even resolution scale (i.e. 3x or 5x) as this causes a slight amount of jitter. It’s not super obvious, but I noticed it when changing several games that were set to one of the Bob modes to a scale of 5x - stick with 4 or 6 (or 8 I suppose if your hardware can handle it). I don’t know if this is a bug or what, but I encountered it pretty consistently in my testing. As part of the update process, I went through and benchmarked everything with the framelimiter off (the results of which are now listed on the sheet, in the final column), and made a few adjustments here and there as the result of those tests. MTVU has been enabled and large framebuffer has been disabled in cases where A) a performance improvement might actually matter (in other words, if a game is running at 800% speed as-is, I didn’t go out of my way to see if I could get it to run any faster; 200% and below is basically where I started looking into potential speed improvements) and B) where it actually made a difference in my tests (because sometimes they don’t have any speed impact whatsoever). The amount to which it made a difference was at times as small as 15% or as much as 100%, it varies by game. There are also some cases where disabling large framebuffer doesn’t necessarily result in a consistent speed improvement but can help with sudden performance spikes. Truth be told, in my opinion large framebuffer really shouldn’t be enabled by default in PCSX2 (and I notice that now in 1.6.0 it isn't, it was in 1.5.0 dev builds though), and this has even been acknowledged by a number of devs in their forums. Primarily all it does is makes it so that FMVs don’t flicker in and out while playing in a pretty small number of games, and in those instances you can generally use the Software FMV hack as an alternative anyway; and the tradeoff for large framebuffer is at best no performance impact and at worst a substantial negative performance impact. It should be noted, of course, that the benchmarking results are specific to my hardware, but the changes should, generally speaking, benefit everyone. I have read that on some AMD CPUs MTVU is less beneficial, so your mileage may vary but that’s kindof a given since everyone’s going to have different hardware and varying amounts of overhead to begin with. If someone had good performance with a previous config and are suddenly getting very bad performance with the new one, I definitely want to know about that so I can take a look, but I’m not anticipating much of that. At worst performance should be pretty much identical and at best it should be better than it was before. FXAA was added to many of the games (and this is noted on the sheet). It actually looks very good with very little impact on performance for the majority of games. It’s not as dramatic as the old MSAA, but it also has nowhere near the performance impact (and doesn’t create visual bugs like MSAA did on occasion). There are some instances where it does have a noticeable impact on performance that are mentioned in the notes. Whether or not it was kept in these cases depends primarily on the difference in final speed with framelimiting off vs the visual benefit of FXAA. In some cases it may have a noticeable impact but you might be talking about going from 450% max speed to 375% speed, which should still be well within tolerance for most hardware. In some cases you might be talking about going from something like 200% to 175%, which I’m less inclined to go for unless it makes a very significant improvement on the visuals - which is primarily a combination of A) the aesthetic style of the game and B) the scaling value. FXAA doesn’t yield as much of a benefit with 6x scaling as it does at 4x scaling (for reasons that are probably obvious), and by the same token speed impacts tend to be greater the higher the scaling, so you’re taking a bigger performance hit for an increasingly negligible difference in visual quality. In some cases I opted to A) go down a single scale step (but no lower than 4x) combined with FXAA rather than B) up a single step without FXAA where the performance between these two options were equivalent, because 1x down + FXAA will usually look a little better between these two (so long as the scaling is 4x+). In some cases FXAA makes very little difference visually one way or the other, depending on the aesthetic style - it’s more obvious with lots of clean, bright, lower-poly angled shapes than it is with a lot of busy dark colors on high poly models. Issues status on Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits, Burnout 3: Takedown, Kya: Dark Lineage, Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix, Shadow of the Colossus, and Twisted Metal: Black went from yellow to green! I added a new config for Spartan: Total Warrior because it's no longer broken. Shadow of Rome no longer requires 1.2.1 for proper audio in cutscenes. Woohoo! Someone had reported a while back that the Nanobreaker config wasn't downloading through the plugin. I took a look and discovered that the ID# had actually changed since I originally scraped it, and what was on github was the old number, so I've fixed that. I'll have to go through the others and verify that all the numbers are still correct. Beyond that, it's not something I'm going to know about unless someone tells me, so if anyone does encounter a game not matching, please let me know! Now that all this shit is done I can actually get back to working on some new configs. This can mostly be mitigated with the proper settings, but it is nevertheless slightly buggier visually than it was in 2711, so I’m including instructions for the proper settings to use on 2711 on the details spreadsheet. The included config is for 1.6.0, and should be sufficient for the vast majority of people. I swapped over to 1.6.0 in LB and retested the ones that I tested last night and they're all working correctly. I'm going to continue pushing the rest through. I do not anticipate any issues there. One note when changing over versions, be sure to restart LB afterwards, because the Configurator plugin will continue to use the previous version until you do.

Technically they're not identical, but they should be synonymous as far as the configs are concerned. Technically these were all tested with 1.5.0-dev-3400 but very little changed between then and 1.6.0 - primarily just some changes to the Onepad plugin, which isn't touched by these configs anyway. I did grab 1.6.0 and plan to test these with it, but there shouldn't be any significant difference between them.

Not... gonna... make it. Need... sleep... I've pushed through 50 of the updated configs so far. I'll push the rest through tomorrow morning. You can see which ones are updated by looking at the list on github.

15 updated configs tested through the downloader: all A-okay. I'm going to push them all through, then update the sheet and post the changelog once complete.

Alright... final pass is now complete. I uploaded a new config to Github, downloaded it through the plugin and everything came through correctly. I'm going to try a couple more to cover my bases but assuming everything goes well there I'll be pushing them all through.

Huh, good to know for future reference. Weird that that would have anything to do with it.

Hmm, yeah I'm not sure what would cause that. Maybe Alec has some idea. Hopefully it's something simple. I guess the good news is, in lieu of the plugin there will eventually be another option as Alec mentioned earlier.

I tried that and it just wants to download it as an xml for me. Ah okay, I thought it might be something like that. Was acting weird. Thank you! I'm not sure what to tell you then. What exactly is happening? An error on LB start? An error when trying to use the configurator? Or it just doesn't show up at all? Just to give another status update, I've made a lot of progress today. I'm at 224 / 92%, so if it's not done tonight, it'll be done tomorrow.

Actually that github link to the zip isn't actually working for me (as in the zip itself literally doesn't download), I don't know if it's just me or what. The one from the comments on the plugin page works though (and I did have to unblock it when I downloaded it). This has to be used in conjunction with the complete plugin from the download page, you're just replacing the .dll. https://forums.launchbox-app.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=48381
