I spoke to @Jason Carr about this list today and he said he was going to have a look at it and see what in the list is actually relatively simple to implement. The list did grow to be fairly large so he is going to have to prioritize it based on demand and ease of implementation. I have done all I can do at this point is nudge Jason in a direction I would like to see some improvements made to Launchbox. Edit: Any posts beyond this point with suggestions will not be added to the current list but feel free to post anyways and I will re-visit this thread at some point in the future when Jason gets a good amount of the things on the list checked off.

You cannot judge the overall quality of an emulator based on 1 or 2 games, it has to be done as a whole across it's library. Unfortunately right now Dreamcast emulation has stagnated but hopefully the new Redream core for Retroarch can pick it up and improve on a system that is in desperate need of a good emulator.

Do Homebrew / Patches / Translated Roms go in the DB?
Lordmonkus replied to DocCaliban's topic in Contributions
As far as I am aware of at the moment no. I generally stay out of database stuff and leave it to others to worry about and deal with but from what I have gathered the few times I have seen people discussing it is that is something that is planned on but right now there is no simple way of handling it. -
Nope, that CPU wont cut it at all. I have an AMD 8350 @ 4 GHz and Mario Kart doesn't run at a stable 60 fps, it runs more in the mid 50s with some places getting up to 60.

Just drag a rom into your Launchbox window like I do in the video. That will start the import wizard where you pick which platform and emulator that rom or roms is going to use. So for example with the Sega Master System, drag any rom for it into LB, choose the Sega Master System platform and your Fusion emulator in the wizard. Once the import process is done you will have the Sega Master System platform on the left and your game in that platform.
-
Just drag a game in and it will start up the import wizard. Here's a short tutorial video I did which should give you what you need to get started. I know it's using the Retroarch emulator but all the steps are the same with other emulators.
-
Import at least one game for the platform and the platform will show up.

You don't need to add a new emulator. Simply add Sega Master System to the associated platforms window for the Fusion emulator you already have in Launchbox.

Well as far as making some "custom wheels with certain games" goes that is very easy to do using the playlists feature. The simplest way is to start by picking out a game you want in a specific custom wheel. Right click it and Add to Playlist > New Playlist and call it what you want to call it. From there you can go along to each game you want to have in that same playlist and Right Click it > Add to Playlist and instead of New Playlist, add it to the one you already have created, it will show in the list where it says New Playlist. There are other methods of generating playlists as well by auto populating them based on certain criteria such as keywords, developer, publisher and lots of other. Then to see your playlist on the left hand side with your platforms up at the top left choose Platform Category from the list, or Playlists if you to see only Playlists. Now if you want custom art for your playlists then you might be able to find some nice artists around here to do some for you and you can come to an arrangement with them for that.

What exactly are you wanting to hire someone to do ? My recommendation is to take the time to learn what it is you want to do. That way when something goes wrong or you have a catastrophic drive failure (they do happen) you know how to get things back up and running how you want. Lots of helpful people and information here on the forums already to do most everything.

I'll add it to the list. Edit: I combined it with another "List View" improvement suggestion and gave it a * since they went together well.

lol don't feel so bad, I was looking at it for typos and missed it as well. -
Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
I honestly don't know since those are 2 systems I have never messed with before so I don't know if they would need any extra command line parameters like some of the consoles going through the Mame core such as the Atari 5200. From my experience if you are able to just load a core and then load content through Retroarch on its own it works just fine through Launchbox as long as your command line parameter and platform name is correct which it looks like it is from what you are telling me and showing in your screen shots. -
Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
That missing step about the "configuration per core" doesn't make any difference. Right now I am at a loss as to what the problem could be and I don't have any Game and Watch games to test out to try and reproduce the problem. -
Portable PC for Emulation: Want Advice!
Lordmonkus replied to onebadveggie's topic in Collections and Builds
Fair enough but you will still be upscaling no matter what when using a modern display, it's just how things work. For example a 240p console such as an NES or SNES will still get scaled up 4 or 4.5 times @ 1080 depending on if you use integer scaling or not. In the end though if you don't plan on using shaders you don't need a relatively fancy graphics card. If you do want to use shaders you will want something a little better than on board video. That current build you linked looks to be very good. that CPU will handle PS2 and Dreamcast no problem and the graphics card will allow you to use shaders or if you decide after you want to upscale the internal resolution in PS2, Dreamcast and Wii games it will handle it just fine. The most important thing in emulation when you start getting into the more modern systems is the CPU. The new stuff needs a lot more CPU power than the older stuff. -
By the looks of it Advanced MAME does some things a little differently. Right off the bat I notice you have the "Use file name only" box checked, with the normal command line version of Mame and Retroarch that box check breaks it.

On my HTPC where I use Controller Companion a lot I use Retroarch and ePSXe only.

Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
It's not necessary to change it, I was only suggesting to change it for one game for testing purposes to help me narrow down the possible causes for your problem. Though having said I personally would suggest Retroarch with the Genesis GX core over Fusion but that is just my personal preference. Hmm, ok so your Retroarch does work for Genesis. That rules out what I was just thinking about your ANYTHING TO DO WITH GAMING folder and how you have it named with all those spaces. But since your Genesis does work with that same folder name that isn't the issue. The fact that it is a custom platform doesn't matter. As long as the platform name in LB matches with the associated platform for the emulator match up and the command line parameter isn't messed up it should work. If you right click a game in your Game and Watch platform is the option to load Retroarch in the menu ? and if so does Retroarch actually load ? -
That is weird cause it works for me.

Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
Yeah you are doing it incorrectly. To change your emulator for your Genesis games you can either change one or you can use the "bulk edit" tool to change them all. For testing purposes just right click a game and edit, then in the emulation tab like in the screen shot I posted before change it to Retroarch and then try and load the game. Right now I am seeing some weirdness that looks way off to me. The 2 paths I highlighted with orange are different. -
It does not.

Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
Yes please. Also, have you set your games to work with the Retroarch emulator ? Just checking the "default emulator" box doesn't set that, that is only for importing purposes. if you can right click a game and edit and get me a screenshot of the emulation tab that would help. -
Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
The latest version of Retroarch works fine and is full compatible. I see in your Associated Platforms you have Sega Genesis, does that work for you ? -
In BigBox you can set a controller button combo to exit your emulators which will work for the vast majority of emulators, though there may be some oddballs like ePSXe which requires an AHK script to help it along. Edit: In Controller Companion you can set per program profiles to do things if you need.

Game & Watch/ Retroarch games not loading
Lordmonkus replied to Happy Horus's topic in Troubleshooting
Do any of the platforms using Retroarch work ? Like your Genesis platform for example ? Is your Game And Watch platform named the same in Launchbox as it is in the Associated Platforms window ?
