Since you have not used Retroarch before it can be a bit overwhelming to new users but I wrote up a guide for beginners so give that a look over to help you out.
-
Much like how the database is done, a Wiki should be mostly done by community members who wish to contribute and moderated by a couple of people.
-
Yup, that's why I said it would take time and dedication like the game database
-
A Wiki page would be a good thing to have. There are people out there that prefer to read things instead of watch videos, especially those on slow or limited internet. It would also be nice to have the important information all centrally located rather than spread out over a forum for people to search through. Building and maintaining a Wiki would certainly take some time and dedication much like the games database.

Cool, I even cross posted it over on /r/Launchbox as well

Version 7.8 - Released March 21, 2017 - New Premium Feature: Playlists are now available with a ton of new options! They can also be displayed next to your platforms in LaunchBox and Big Box. - New Premium Feature: Custom filters have now been replaced with auto-populating playlists, which are much more flexible and more performant! - New Premium Feature: Playlists can now optionally created on imports to divide up Arcade platforms into various subdivisions such as Capcom Classics, Namco Classics, etc. These playlists can also be created after the fact using Tools > Create Missing Arcade/MAME Playlists. - Improvement: Platforms and playlists now both have a Sort Title field that can be used to custom sort them - Improvement: Theme videos can now be downloaded for playlists as well as platforms using the Download Platform/Playlist Theme Videos option from the Tools menu - Improvement: New controller buttons and keyboard mappings have been added for each view type in Big Box (switching between platforms, playlists, genres, etc.) - Improvement: Platforms (and playlists as well) can now be managed directly in the sidebar via right click instead of always using Tools > Manage Platforms - Improvement: In order to better support some MAME games that don't have an associated zip file, LaunchBox will no longer complain that the ROM file does not exist if the emulator's "use file name only without file extension or path" box is checked - Improvement: Updated the list of Patreon producers in the About dialog once again! As always, thank you very much to all producers! https://www.patreon.com/launchbox - Fixed: Renaming platforms was creating duplicate platforms - Fixed: When exiting Big Box with the exit shortcut key or button, the last platform used was not being saved

No problem, when it comes to cartridge based console roms the No-Intro sets are the ones to look for.
-
If you downloaded No-Intro romsets then each game should be their own zip file instead of multiple roms inside the zip. You could then go and delete the regions you don't want to have. If the sets you have downloaded have multiple roms inside the zips then unfortunately there is no simple and easy solution.
-
Yeah. I can't help you with Android support.
-
Not sure what to tell you then aside from if you have a regular keyboard plug that in and see if it works.
-
Use your keyboard, F1 brings up the Retroarch UI, Enter and Backspace to accept and back out a menu level, use the arrow keys left and right to change settings. Go to the cogwheel menu, down to Input and the Input User1Binds, then User1DeviceIndex. Left or right to change it to your 360 controller.
-
Yes.
-
If your "circuit board" can run Windows and has a hard drive or USB thumb drive hooked up to it then yeah.
-
You will need a PC. Launchbox doesn't run on a Pi because the Pi runs on Linux and Launchbox requires Windows.
-
I assume you are using the stand alone which I don't use myself but there is probably a command line parameter to use for it. I use Retroarch with the Nestopia core.
-
Yes, make sure you have good bios and good disk images.
-
Yes that was a typo which I will fix. I suggested the Mercury core because it uses high level emulation for the Snes' special chips like dsp and others. If you use the standard BSnes core you will need dumps of those special chips.
-
It will work over USB.
-
The first thing that stands out to me is that you are loading a mednafen_bsnes cfg file with the snes9x_2010 core. Do you actually have the snes9x_2010 core downloaded ? I would just use the Snes9x core (without the 2010) or BSnes Mercury Balanced.
-
I just use the command line version but if you need a UI there is an addon exe called Arcade that provides the exact same functionality as MameUIFX.
-
What I do is I have an emulators folder and then sub folders for each emulator and version number. I then have a roms folder and separate sub folders for each platform. I also keep my emus and roms separated.

No, do not simply copy over update rom packs. These update files only contain the updated rom files and not all the rom files so you could be copying over and over writing a .zip file with missing files. Example: Old .zip contains roms a,b,c, and d, the new one contains an updated rom c file and nothing else. So in the end you would be updating your old .zip with a file that only contains a single file and not the whole rom. You should either use a program like clrmamepro to update your romset or if you want it to be easier and you have the bandwidth download a new fully updated rom set.

Here is an example of using a custom command parameter. I am using Retroarch and the BSNes core for my Snes MSU games but certain games need to use the Snes9x core because of no .bml file. Click the use custom command line parameter and then enter the parameter in the box below that.

You can, you just have to set custom command line parameters for each game.
